    great video. my washer is 12 years old. clutch bearing just failed. Why can't they just make it with replacable bearings. sad. going to cost me near $500 canadian with shipping to get the part (and buy a socket!). whole new machine is $815 taxes in... damn.

  • @davidtisler82
    @davidtisler82 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    While you're at it, check your washer to see if you have a Hose Clamp or Glue on the inbound side of the discharge pump. If so, that is not a factory connection. There is not supposed to be any Glue or Hose Clamps on anything according to LG. Squeeze clamps only. Most of the LG washers had to be reconditioned, then sold as new. The hose is 2 inches too short and the travel of the tank, to offset a lopsided load, will one day rip that hose off. I repaced 12" of drywall in my whole washroom. Contact the FTC.

  • @69Dartman
    @69Dartman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You weren't intending to rebuild that part, you just wanted to take the bad one apart to see why it failed and no intention to reuse any of it because you already have a brand new assembly to replace it with. Every one who is freaking out doesn't understand what is going on. I have a Kenmore/Whirlpool he top loader that I bought as a demo for cheap. It ran nicely for first three years and after that the main shaft tub seal fails after about a year and you have to tear it completely down and replace shaft, tub bearings, and seal. It's involved process and if you get cheap parts or have a bad day it will start leaking right away and you have to do it again in about a month. The parts in OEM are usually over 100, and the cheap Chinese kits are around 50. I have redone it about 4 times since I got it in 2013. I have given up and ordered a LG 7900 top loader from Costco with a 4 year warranty and I wanted to see what the bearing setup is like in the machine I'm getting. I supposedly won't have to worry about it for at least 4 years but I want to know what I'm up against if I ever have to deal with it myself after the warranty expires. It looks way simpler than the Whirlpool direct drive setup as you just replace the whole setup rather than trying to knock everything out and completely replace each part and hope you got it right. Even at 100 bucks it looks like you have a much better chance of a successful repair the first time and it should last longer too.
    If you have direct experience with the 7900 setup let me know and I'll keep the info saved for hopefully much later. I now have a really nice bearing tool, and a bunch of shafts and dead bearings for a Whirlpool... 🤬

    You can do this if u want, but if u want to fix it, search this, buy the part and your washer will be running again

      @petevargas7835 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BayouRepairGuy I'm not doubting your experience at all, but I had the E6 error on my LG washer and it was simply a little plastic motor assembly which took me more time to lean my machine over than it did to replace the object in question...$40 later it worked and trust me I'm a complete rookie at appliance repair, unlike yourself.
