In the Novel, Aemond planned all along to kill the Prince and the _Baratheon_ was WITH ABOUT THAT MURDER and even AIDED IN IT! But of course the show did it their way and you guys are right.
Remember even Viserys said that the _"The idea that we control dragons is an illusion. They are a power men should never have trifled with!"_ It's the reason, I believe, he rode _Balerion the Black Dread_ exactly ONCE (the show & the book) and after Balerion's death the King never claimed another dragon, because, again I believe, he realized 'first hand' that the Rider really has no ABSOLUTE control over a beast of that magnitude!

Aemond is a grown ass 20 year old man, who held on some grudge over a joke that his OWN BROTHER started, and chose to bully a 13 year old child who was under a peace banner. No matter what, Aemond is the real bully in this situation. If he really was vengeful over that damn joke, he would have taken it out on his brother instead. Damon still has issues. When Rhanerya mentioned the Song of Ice and Fire, he realized by him never hearing of it that Viserys didn’t share it with him. Damon was the heir for 10 years before Rhanerya. It further showed Viserys didn’t trust him and didn’t really want him to be heir. He hoped Aemma would have a son, but she all those still births.

Lucerys was only 13 and Arrax is probably around the same age. In the book, she was SO grieved that she collapsed after finding out about Lucerys and tried to end the war right then and there. It was only when Daemon wrote her a letter swearing vengeance for their son's death did she realize that it was a viable option, and from there on out, she chose violence over peace. Lucerys' death was literally her final straw and was the last of her morality. I liked that this show showed us how affectionate and gentle she was with Luke over the years, so it really sells us as to why this would be her breaking point.

I like that these guys joke around but they are still very engaged with the content. They're one of the only reactors I've watched that remembered small details like the page from the book that was given to Alicent and actually understand the nuances of what will happen in the future because of what's currently happening in the show.

The small dragon was scared because Luke was scared. He spit fire as a reflex of being afraid. The big dragon took the fire as assault & responded. Aemond should have left the little guy alone.

The pink dread shit only happened on the show, the show wanted everyone to feel bad for Aemond being bullied for not having a dragon. But all of Rhaenyra’s kids had dragons hatch at birth. Aegon II and even Aemond’s youngest brother Daeron had one too. His sister bonded w DreamFyre. He was just the odd Prince out. No one taunted him, he just didn’t have one.

This was one of the best first seasons ever in television history (imo) the acting, the production, *THE MF WRITING* and the cinematography was just next level. Can’t wait for season 2 🤘🤘

Luke and Arrax were both being terrorised and it definitely seemed like Arrax was trying to go for Vhagar’s eyes so that he could escape without pursuit since he couldn’t outmanoeuvre Vhagar in the storm. It just didn’t work.
The thing I love is that he never even wanted to be heir to driftmark or anything he was only defending his mom cause she did that for him all his life about being a bastard , and you can clearly see he was already terrified and had nothing to prove he wanted to get the hell out of there. For everyone saying his dragon should have been faster , can you not catch up to a little kid when he is running away lol ? Great season can't wait for the second one !

Lucerys' death was really hard to watch - I was rooting for that little guy. Aemond didn't mean for that to happen, but he started a chain reaction by chasing the kid with his dragon. Eventually instinct took over, Arrax reacted out of fear then Vhagar went after him. Now all attempts at peace are gone. This was such an amazing season - really enjoyed your reactions! Can't wait for season 2!
He was such a sweet boy. It breaks my heart knowing he didn't even want to get involved in the first place, and was only trying to be a loyal and flial son to his mom.

Dragons bond with their riders to the point that they share their emotions. Just like you saw Syrax gnarling in pain as Rhaenyra was giving birth, Arrax felt the fear Luke had and his reaction was to defend him i.e. breathe fire on Vhagar's face. On the other hand, Vhagar could also feel the anger and vengeance of Aemond but shit truly popped off the moment Arrax decided to attack.
Killing the messenger might also bite the Greens in the butt. Might turn some allies of theirs away because of that.

The young Dragon here got scared by Vhagar and nipped at her like a puppy and a big dog then Vhagar fucked it up.

The way the dragons acted on their own but still in response to the riders true underlying feelings was all through the episode with Caraxes rollin’ up on the kings guard as Daemon questioned their loyalty and then Syrax morning when Rhaenyra loses her baby then later when her blood starts to boil during the bridge confrontation with Otto- When the Lucerys felt fear and fled his dragon was fueled by that while Aemond was all cocky bully - Vhagar was hypin that smoke like “I’ll show you! “ That’s what her roar said after she bit Arrax in half and swallowed Luc. It all reminded me of Season 6 I think it was with Dany in Mereen being attached by the Sons of the Harpy. She hadn’t seen Drogon in forever but he came when he felt her fear and hope to be saved by a miracle. He just started burning people and even yelled “roared” at her. She ended up getting on his back and riding him for the first time but then he wouldn’t return her when she begged him and found herself in the middle of the green hills of Dothraki land.
Dragons deeply feel the true spirit of their bonds but they still do their own thing. It’s only when THEY feel like responding and offering aid to their riders/bonds that they take whatever action they deem necessary. That is going to definitely mean something later on down the line in this war I am sure!
This finale was awesome and set up Season 2 perfectly which I couldn't be more excited for right now. Kudos to everyone involved who put in amazing work on this first season by giving us quality GOT again.

The scene where Aemon accidentally gets Luke killed also shows how Rheanerya was right to show restraint & not rush in with multiple dragons. If the dragon rider & dragon are too inexperienced & lack the discipline. Then the rider won't be able to control the dragons & the dragons will just destroy everything & everyone
You guys really did a great catch on the dragons having beef. Arrax was already agitated by the weather and smaller dragons rely on their agility so it felt threatened by vhagar from the start.It's interesting that this is quite diff from th books bc basically the show is canon now that GRR Martin is a showrunner and the book Fire and Blood was based on rumors. So we're actually seeing the real shit. Love your guys' reaction and the non toxic masculinity views you share. The way it was explained was that the dragons are in tuned with their rider. They respond based on the anxiety level of its rider and to defend themselves. Both instances happened.

Dragon dreams have always been nightmares and prophecies of doom. Doom of Valyria, Song of Ice and Fire, beast beneath the boards, Aegon wearing the conquerors crown. Viserys thought his was a good omen that he would finally have a son but it was a dire warning of doom. It was a nightmare about his son stealing the crown and throne which caused a massive war that almost destroyed House Targaryen, his family and the realm. His son was never supposed to sit on that throne and the Hightowers were never supposed to rule

When a mother can only find a wing and her sons cloak in the Fishermans necks in the next episode how do you recover from that? When that is all you have for a funeral? You have nobody to bury they just added items of clothing that were lucerys that is not the same thing, she didn’t even get a chance to grieve him because she was thrust into the middle of this fight for the throne.
