  • What's up, Knights, and welcome back to another day, another video!
This is our reaction and commentary to the much anticipated season finale of House of the Dragon, 1x10, 'The Black Queen'.
What. An. EPISODE! Helmed by Greg Yaitanes as director, this was, once more, a masterclass in storytelling. The way we held our breath, clutched onto our arm rest and audibly gasped, multiple times, is honestly still not enough of a description to convey just how overwhelming and incredible this episode was.
Whether it was seeing the true dimensions of Vhagar in comparison to other dragons, a full on dragon battle amongst the darkest of stormclouds, or witnessing the consequences on the Blacks due to the Greens' actions from the previous episode, it was an absolutely stunning temporary ending to what was an unforgettable show and story.
Emma 'Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco in it' D'Arcy, Matt Smith and Ewan Mitchell were absolutely fantastic, truly shining with the complexities and vulnerabilities they brought to their characters.
What a stunning show - and what a heartbreak that we have reached the conclusion of the first season. But, all good things come to an end and you guys have been amazing throughout the entire journey.
Thank you all, so very much, for all the support. We appreciate you all endlessly!
Take care and we'll see y'all at the next one!

After that confrontation in Baratheon's hall, no one will ever believe Aemond didn't intentionally kill Lucerys. But he was stupid and careless with the most powerful dragon in the world. this is prob a weird comment, but the fact that you two were heartbroken instead of grossed out by the still birth was refreshing. so many people just hate that scene and think it was unnecessary and as someone who witnessed a still birth and helped family through the grief, I think it was absolutely necessary to illustrate every graphic moment of that for the impact it had

    • @OfficialMediaKnights
      @OfficialMediaKnights  ปีที่แล้ว +28

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. First of all - we are truly so sorry you've had to experience that. It is such a devastating thing that happens much more frequently than anyone cares go admit, and is a major traumatic event. It also feels a bit of a taboo topic to discuss, which is not conducive, so no, your comment is not weird at all. On the contrary, this needs to be talked about more in order to educate people on stillbirths and the psychological and physical impact this has on people who give birth.
This episode handled it very well, I believe. It was honest and raw - and devastating to watch. I cannot fathom someone getting grossed out by this when it's one of the most painful things a human can go through, which is why the way this was shot with this kind of brutality and a sort of loneliness, has created such a strong impact. This absolutely was necessary and I'm glad it was handled with such respect and integrity.

    • @VideoMixer1000

Sorry but thats just wrong and doesnt make sense. If we follow your logic then the producers would also have to show in detail how people die and include distrubing screams, blood and organs falling out and so on... i mean the death of her son had at least the same impact for her so following your logic they should include his blood and his organs falling through the air? No they shouldnt. There are just some things that people dont want to see in a show. Most viewers dont want to see the gruesom details of certain things.
Thats why blood and organs and screams when people suffer agonizing pain are not included in shows (except horror and gore movies). And thats why people criticized that scene. We all know what this must mean to her. We dont need to see the graphics for that.
I also think your personal experience has nothing to do with anything and i dont understand why you would mention it except the wish to be pitied . If someone dies of cancer in a movie do we want that this is shown in every detail because people in real life experienced it and think just by watching it in full length we can understand the impact it has? We cant show everything in detail just because someone experienced it in real life and now wants to show everyone how bad it was for them. I know it sounds selfish but i dont care about the impact. I can imagine how they feel and thats enough. I dont need to see the bad reality visualized. And most people dont want to see it either and thats why most people hate this scene.
I dont want to see a failed child birth in house of the dragon.
To know it failed is more than enough for the viewer to understand and follow the story. (from germany thats why my englisch is bad)

    • @CourtneyAndBooks

@@VideoMixer1000 lol. That was a long winded reply/argument to something that wasn't even meant to be a debate. If you can't stomach the show or the emotional impacts it's trying to portray, don't watch 😂 Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are pretty known for pushing viewers emotionally. Which is a large reason they're popular.
The directors clearly left that particular part in there for the impact they wanted it to have on watchers (likely for watchers who don't know what it feels like since they can't imagine it without the gritty illustration). You can't tell me that it would have had the same impact if it faded to black and suddenly she was not pregnant. Instead, as a viewer, you're there with her and seeing the tears, pain, and struggle. And that goes for any scene that means something. It's character development to see exactly what people go through so we know why they make certain decisions or react certain ways down the line. It's called good story telling. Showing instead of telling. There's something to a show putting viewers in the moment and forcing them to be there with the characters as they go through hardships, happiness, or anything for that matter. Otherwise, we don't get as emotionally invested.
And before you try to tell me my OPINION is wrong again (That was sarcasm. Opinions can't be wrong. That's why they are OPINIONS) just look at ratings for the show.... Clearly they are doing something right with their direction...

aemond might not have had the intention to kill lucerys but he still chased him through a storm on a giant vicious wild beast having it snap and antagonise the other dragon. he could have at least stopped when lucerys temporarily got away through the caves, but no, he was still following and looking for him. he already scared the shit out of lucerys, what was even the point to keep going after him? what was supposed to happen other than death for aemond to stop? he's definitely at fault.

You're right - I don't think even Aemond realized just how little control riders actually have over their dragons. He continued to antagonize Lucerys, terrorize the poor child - they were never even on the same level! Aemond is a more accomplished fighter and dragon rider, this did not need to happen. I'm surprisingly devastated at what happened to poor Lucerys - he seemed like a decent kid. Gah. Not cool.

He wants Rhaenyra to understand that the Hightowers are not honest players and you can’t be lenient. He was wrong to grab her like that, but it was done more out of fear and frustration, than any jealousy or wanting for the throne. He wants to protect the throne for the Targaryens, not himself. Not only that, but the episode also portrayed the bond between dragons & riders. Luke was scared, so Arrax was scared & used fight or flight instincts. Aemond wanted to scare Luke & he was being unhinged which caused Vhagar to pick up on that. Once Arrax spit fire at an already pumped up Vhagar, she snapped. She is also war-hardened (& an animal) so threats like that are not taken lightly - instinct kicked in. They also demonstrated this bond with the scenes of Rhaenyra giving birth. Syrax felt her pain.

"Neither whip nor words could turn Drogon if he did not wish to be turned." That is from 5th book of ASOIAF. Silverwing refused the wishes of Alysanne 3 times when Alysanne wished to go beyond the wall. Also, Balerion accepted the Aerea as a rider then they flew Valyria, which was against her will, they didn’t come back for 9 months. When they came, Aerea was almost dead. Viserys said “The idea we control the dragons is an illusion”, Dany said “Dragons are not slave”.
I think Luke felt scared, anxious threatened so his young dragon reacted accordingly, it is a sort of self-defense mechanism for dragons or dragon instinct. Vhagar felt the resentment and hate Aemond felt towards Luke, Aemond did not want to kill Luke but he wanted to take his eye. Dragons are emotionally connected to their riders, but sometimes whatever they do with feelings of their riders is something they decide on their own.

I'm sure someone has already commented on it but the issues were that Arrax couldn't outrun Vhagar because of the storm. You could see Arrax constantly beating its wings against the storm winds. The second thing is Vhagar is the second largest known dragon since the days of old Valryia and was bred for and served in war. so when Arrax panicked and blasted her in the face, she got that bloodlust and went apeshit against Aemond's will. Like they say, "The idea that we control Dragons without magic is merely an illusion".

This is why aircraft carriers can easily outsail missile frigates (which would normally be slightly faster than an aircraft carrier) in heavy seas, for example. • @OfficialMediaKnights
      @OfficialMediaKnights  ปีที่แล้ว +3

That's fair - when we say 'misunderstanding', it was referring to the general miscommunication that has driven the story in the past two episodes, not just Aemond.
Whether it was in regards to Viserys' final words misconstrued by Alice, or Aemond unintentionally killing Luce. His expression as he stares at the carcass pieces drift through the clouds is clearly telling that this was not his intention. He absolutely should have known better though - Vhagar is a war and battle-hardened beast. She feels threatened or attacked, she will defend herself. One cannot use a killer machine this lightly and petulantly.
And no, you're absolutely right. Considering how the Greens handled Viserys' death and the subsequent usurping of the throne, it is 100% understandable that Rhaenyra and Daemon will think this was intentional murder - and the consequences for this will be dire, it's heartbreaking and infuriating simultaneously. I guess a lot of dragon wisdom died with valyria. Aemond at least knew some Valyrian dragon command words, and Daemon knew the song. At the time Daenerys had dragons, she knew almost nothing about taming them and the psychic bond with the rider, she knew just the word dracarys. the choke scene ,
When he realized he didn’t know the dream secret , he realizes that viserys never trusted him enough and never considered him heir. He was feeling hurt because it has been shown his insecurity is his relationship with viserys. At that moment he was trying to wake nyra the fk up because he knows otto and knows peace isn’t possible. She was acting like viserys and even though daemon loved him, he hated the way he ruled and knows how that ended and hated that nyra was thinking the same as viserys (being naive) He regretted that choke which is why the last scene he was wiping tears off his face if you go back and acted caring (holding nyras hand while delivering the news). On to the birth scene, he was having flashback of laenas pregnancy problem and wanted to avoid it (ptsd) . It was shown in this episode that corlys went to war for 6 yrs after his sons “death” as his way to grief. (Man deal with there emotions different, war is a way to grief) which is why he was distracting himself with the planning to go to war. He later took time for himself to grief on the beach scene. Not defending the choke scene but it’s important the reason for it. He knows the Targeryen Dynasty is on the line too and if he really finds out about this prohecy...

I agree - the choking, whilst wrong, was certainly fueled by his own fear and 'inadequacy'. He sees everything he cares about dragged towards a cliff, and his wife makes the same mistakes as his brother. It's a terrible and helpless place to be in.
The characters in this show are so multi-layered, the men and the women, and I thoroughly enjoy them with all their good traits and their transgressions - it makes them fully fledged characters, like real people!

@@WarKrieg I understand why people always seem to bring up Rhae, but he did not love her, he did not even want to marry her, the former king made him. So comparing what he did to Rhae with his relationship to Rhaenyra just does not make sense.
Plus, Emma stated in a recent interview that this was the first time Daemon was violent towards Rhaenyra, even though they have had arguments before during their six year marriage. What he did was inexcusable, no one is arguing against that fact. However, depending on how the show wants to portray Daemon in season 2, this could be a one-time event brought on by the loss of his brother, his unborn daughter, the usurpation of his wife's throne, and the fact he just found out his brother didn't trust him enough to tell him the prophecy.
Ryan, in a recent interview, stated that Daemon just broke in that scene. He is the greyest grey character in Targaryen history. So we can't just use head canon and now claim that Daemon has been abusing his true wife all along, which is not the case. Daemon is chaotic and restless, and dangerous to his enemies, but like all dragons, this scene shows that when pushed to the limit, he can also burn his loved ones.

This choking incident is the first time he has laid hands on her (which is still inexcusable). Emma stated this in her interview. Daemon has also killed other people, remember? That guard, with Rhaenrya’s blessing. Daemon is chaotic and restless. He is not a good human being, but he has one redeeming quality. His love for his family. We just saw in this episode that love be tested to the extreme.
What I wrote before stands. To Daemon, Rhae was as important as that guard. Meaning, neither meant shit to him. Also, remember, we are not arguing if Daemon is a good person.

Ep 1> Daemon having a lovey dovey moment with Caraxes, and he take Mysaria's hand and let her touch Caraxes
Ep 2> Caraxes come on cue when Daemon draw his sword towards Otto
Ep 3> Not a single dracarys from Daemon but Caraxes burn in control, react when Daemon got hit with the arrow.
Also, this caught my attention that when Daemon go to fight the crabs, did he chain Caraxes? I read someone's comment about this too, "how did Daemon convinced Caraxes to stay?" Because he always react to Daemon, or probably Caraxes being the good boy as he is just stay calm obeyed Daemon Lol
Ep 6> my favorite moment.. fly high in the air and Daemon lift his hands up (foreshadowing 😏), Daemon The Show Off, how much trust between him and Caraxes.. fly without a care through the fire..
Ep 10> "I'm presenting you a choice" and Caraxes show up, why is he always on cue? Never heard Daemon called him..
    And this awesome scene.
The riderless dragon for over 40 years, sing to him, probably to some kind of "wake him up" from his super long me time.. didn't flinch and look at Vermithor in the eye..

The entire Aemond/Luke thing was NOT some misunderstanding. This was not a "They both screwed up" thing. This wasn't a "They both lost control of their dragons on equal footing" thing. This was entirely Aemond's fault period.
Aemond threatens Luke while in Borros Hall. Luke then leaves scared, he's clearly fearfully searching for Vaghar before leaving. Dragons have a mental bond while their rider as demonstrated by Daemon/Craxase with the arrow & the multiple times Caraxes shows up when Daemon needs him despite no audio queues. Arrax would've been able to tell Luke was scared. Arrax knew Vaghar was there.
Aemond then decided to take the largest dragon in the world out to "tease" a damn child who is riding a literal juvenile dragon. Arrax panics because the biggest & scariest dragon in the damn WORLD is chasing him & at least looking like it's attacking him. If the biggest guy in the bar starts acting like he's going to swing on me, threatening me & making fighting postures I'm not to blame if I retaliate in my own defense. GRRM has literally likened Dragons to being the nuclear bomb equivalent in the GOT world. Aemond is "teasing" Luke iwth a living nuke. Compared to Vaghar Arrax is a pocket knife to Vaghar's .50 Cal.
If someone is arguing with a person they've been feuding with & pulls a gun out & continuously points said gun at the person in attempts to scare or "tease" them & then the gun has a negligent discharge I'm blaming the guy with the gun 100%. So even if Rhae had the full context of everything that happened to Luke she'd still be within her right to make Aemond suffer. Aemond is the wrong party here.

    but two heads
    For a rosary to sing
    From my voice:
    the fireworks spoke
    And the price was paid
    with blood magic
    With words of fire

Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection to their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns throughout the transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they did Daenarys
17:39 Daemon, as crazy as it sounds, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping with the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was more vulnerable and it wasn't easy. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and Viserys's wife died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. for coming. The scene on the beach was much longer with him on the beach Matt the actor he filmed a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is no longer a saint he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him too much, i think the reason daemon didn't go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he was afraid having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her like this. As he fell to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to take that baby away so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome...
Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. in the books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always so jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wanted Rhaenyra to die no and how in the series it shows that Alicent is like that and because in the books she does things because she is a bad person
Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each of their own paths, the daemon starts to prepare for war because he knows Otto very well and is afraid of losing his family One thing I will say is that they both really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or no, they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever
17:39 Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra she says the daemon never laid a hand on Rhaenyra this was the first time Rhaenyra her character didn't really care because she knows the daemon did it and because he is angry and is letting his emotion out and she also says which character of hers cares most about what she just found out the daemon doesn't know about prophecy because Rhaenyra I thought the daemon knew because he was viserys' heir for 10 years that's why she put on a smile side of her mouth because she just found out that her father always chose her and Rhaenyra had her doubts if her father wanted her as heir remember episode 2 when Rhaenyra talks to Alicent because now after years he got her answer The daemon must be sad because he is his brother and he just found out that he was never chosen and that his brother never trusted him enough to tell him and that is more moving A script came out for the first season that HBO thought about putting a scene in the story that Viserys I was thinking about telling the daemon so he starts talking to the daemon but then gives up but they didn't put this scene in unfortunately
I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon choking Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens but the protector of his family. Daemon is not a saint, but he is definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him.
There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did.

OMG. YES!!! See that's something I love about Daemon - he understands the ruthlessness and viciousness of the opposition. Unfortunately, as Otto said, it's an ugly and bloody game, and Daemon seems to be the only one that fully accepts that many ethical and/or moral boundaries must be crossed in order to win. And once again, he was right!! Seems that he's doomed to be right hand man to kings and queens that fail to act and understand that concept.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned but she doesn't bend the knee during the crowning scene because she's the woman of her house... Only her husband can choose whether their family will bend the knee or not so she literally isn't allowed to bend her knee without talking to her husband first in that scene. Good job that you guys caught it, though! A lot of reacters have missed that little detail that she is the ONLY one standing upright at the end.

    Daemon
2019 was the worst year of my life. First I lost my soulmate, 3 month later a beloved friend and 1 month later my father. In 2022 I lost my 3rd friend and 1 month later my beloved grandmother who was the only one I counted family from my family.
Experiencing the death of the closest people of your life in a very short amount of time, especially starting with my soulmate breaks you in a way very few people understand. It is even more so when you are an emotional person with deep feelings. You need all your strength just to get up and somehow put one foot in front of the other. The grief is like a huge weight which tries to squash you and you need all your energy just to stand straight and not be pushed to your knees constantly. Feeling absolutely helpless about changing what happened and having no idea how to deal with all of your huge emotions. Where do you even begin? You simply can´t control yourself the way you otherwise would be able to.
    - Grief forcing him to his knees/bent posture

I only mention all of this because I believe that is what happened to Daemon (and Rhaenyra) in this episode. Both are emotional, deep feeling characters. The showrunners and Matt Smith explicitly showed us how loosing Viserys and Visenya (his stillborn daughter) brought Daemon to his knees. He couldn´t even stand upright anymore.
Even his posture was bent whenever he was not planning how to defend his family and his brothers wishes.
(Daemon at the beach alone, Daemon standing on the steps seeing Rhaenyra and his stillborn daughter, Daemon going to tell Rhaenyra about Lucerys death - His back was bent and his head down for all of them)
    - Obeying Rhaenyra´s every word
I´m truly amazed and in awe of Daemon how much he was able to control himself. However he wanted to handle things differently he was absolutely loyal to Rhaenyras wishes. Yes, he struggled emotionally with her wishes but he obeyed her every word.
    - Feeling helpless
Daemon is a person of action. Him feeling absolutely helpless in the face of his loss and his grief and having no action to ease the huge weight of it he focused on the actions needed right now for his family, protecting his family and their heritage. All emotions are an energy and they need to be directed someplace for a person to be able to deal with them even a bit.
    - Choking Rhaenyra
Daemon was Viserys heir for 10 years before Rhaenyra was named heir. It was natural for her to assume that Viserys told Daemon about the Dream of Ice and Fire. It was heartbreaking for him to learn just hours after having been informed about the death of the brother he loved so much that Viserys has not trusted him with the secret he was entitled to with being Viserys heir for so long. It was a savage kick to the love and loyalty he felt to Viserys which was not reciprocated, at least not as much as he thought. I could feel his hurt through the screen. In addition to the grief Daemon was already buckling under. Him reacting with anger and violence was unfortunate but absolutely understandable in this circumstances. Anger and violence are easier to deal with than being crushingly hurt by someone you can´t directly address it with anymore. Was it the right thing to do? No. I´m sure though that we all have done or said things we are not proud of in situations of absolutely overwhelming feelings without any possibility to control the direction the energy of the huge feeling takes.
    Introverts
Both Rhaenyra and Daemon are not only emotional characters with deep feelings but both are introverts. Both have never learned how to share grief with someone since no one was ever available. It hurt my heart so much to see both of them pull into themselves to deal with the huge losses they both suffered. I´m so glad that they love each other so much that they tried to find moments to share the grief together.
    Private Grieving
I absolutely LOVED !!! how the show allowed both of them to grieve in private, only with each other, with their backs turned on the audience. You couldn´t see Daemon´s face properly or at all when he allowed himself to grieve at the beach. The same goes for the funeral of Visenya and Daemon telling Rhaenyra about Lucerys death. I can´t remember one show which hasn´t exploited this moments of utter loss for the audience´s benefit. I liked it better this way.
    Visenya, the stillborn daughter
Visenya was a mix of dragon and human in the books. I think that is what the show tried to convey in the intersecting cuts with a dragon (Syrax, I think) during the birthing scene. Yes, she was premature but also a malformed with dragon characteristics. I mentioned in my thoughts to episode 7, Driftmark, that Targaryens can not only bond with dragons but that they are part dragon too. For that reason they sometimes bond with the dragon parts of another Targaryen aka Daemon/Rhaenrya and numerous Targaryen marriages between close family members.
    Daemon singing to Vermithor
Vermithor is the second largest dragon after Vhagar. He was the dragon of the old king Jaehaerys. As far as I remember, correct me if I´m wrong, Daemon and Viserys grew up in Kings Landing with their parents Baelon and Alyssa, both Jaehaerys children. It might be that Daemon picked up some things abot dragons from Jaehaerys during his youth.
The scene with Daemon and Vermithor watching each other and how you could see Daemon in Vermithor´s eye and Vermithor in Daemon´s eye felt like they were equals in each other´s view. A dragon recognizing a dragon
Training for fighting vs being punched in the face for the first time (No battle experience/battle experience)
One girl from another reaction channel had an amazing analogy. It was about someone who trains to fight all his life and thinking he knows what fighting means until he experiences fighting for the first time only to realize he knows nothing about it. The first punch in the face changes your whole perspective. It rang so true to me.
Rhaenyra was preparing to be a queen for half of her life and most of that time she at least subconsciously had to know she would probably need to fight for her throne. Now the day is here for her having to fight and she still has a naivity to her about what that means :(
The old king Jaehaerys reigned nearly 60 years of peace and Viserys around 30. Almost all people alive at this point in history in Westeros have no battle experience at all. Daemon does. He is one of the best warriors if not the best of his time! Daemon understands far better than everyone else and better than Rhaenyra what is to come and how to prepare for it. I truly understand his frustration with Rhaenyra´s inaction especially since everything they have to and will have to suffer now are the consequences of Viserys inactions throughout his reign. Viserys singlehandedly created the upcoming war and all bloodshed and losses for them in the future with his inactions!!! Otto was only able to contribute to the situation because Viserys never dealt with him despite multiple warnings from Daemon and Rhaenyra over the years.

Rhaenys - Targaryen loyalty to family & Corlys
I have written in my thoughts for last episode that I see Rhaenys´ core being the same one as Daemon´s loyalty to family.
In this episode she proved it yet again. She may resent Rhaenyra and Daemon for what she believes they did to Laenor but the moment they or their children are in danger there is no question on which side she is on.
This episode was the first time Rhaenys called Rhaenys 3 eldest children Laenor´s sons. It was also the first time she interacted with them having excluded them previously during Laena´s funeral. I think the danger to the lifes of the boys and them being engaged to Baela and Rhaena made her include them in who she views as family.
Corlys chose to support Rhaenyra and Daemon because they are/share family.
The kids as envoys / recall to “Send us, dragonriders, father” as show of force
When Rhaenyra herself was 14 years old Viserys refused Corlys´ ask to engage in the Stepstones. In that moment she stepped up and offered him to send her and the other dragonriders as a show of force. Viserys belittled her idea and send her to pick out a kingsguard instead. When she was 15 she flew to Dragonstone without Viserys´ knowledge to prevent bloodshed, which she did, but was scolded for it despite her plan working.
I think she remembered those instances and deliberately chose to act differently. She felt sure nothing would happen because envoys/messengers are forbidden to be attacked. She even sent her younger son to the closer destination with a family member being the head of that house.
Rhaenys and Viserys great-grandmother, Alyssa, was a Velaryon. After her first marriage with a Tragaryen prince and one of her sons being the later king Jaehaerys, their grandfather, she later married the Lord of Storm´s End, a Baratheon. Her daughter then married her son Jaehaerys´ 3rd son.
I included this Baratheon/Targaryen family history to demonstrate how close those two families were connected leading up to the events of the show.
Lord Borros is the son of Boremund.
We met Boremund in episode 1 when he partook in the tourney and he was the one who asked for Rhaenys´, the Queen who never was, favour. We met him again in episode 5 when he was sitting next to Rhaenyra when all the men tried to win her for marriage. That event took place in Storm´s End too. That is where Lucery´s happens upon Aemond being already there.
Rhaenyra couldn´t have forseen any harm befalling Lucerys on his errand.
Controlling a dragon aka Aemond is absolutely guilty of Lucerys´and Arrax´death
Dragons have been shown to us time after time of feeling the feelings of their bonded person. Caraxes screamed when Daemon was hit with a flaming arrow. Just this episode Rhaenyra birthing Visenya was intercut with Syrax screaming. Syrax was ready to roast Otto and his entourage when you could feel Rhaenyra´s anger rising at the greens. Dragons give the impression of being “remote controlled” when they appear in the absolute right moment when their bonded person needs them, etc. I think dragons primary mean of knowing what their bonded person wants/needs of them is what their bonded person feels. You mostly control them through your feelings. Word commands are only secondary to a dragon. The more time you spend with your dragon the more he/she learns to listen to verbal commands.
I think if one knows nothing else of dragons one has to absolutely know that they act in accordance with their bonded person´s feelings. We have seen all the boys having daily instructions with the dragonkeepers on how to control their dragons. Aemond absolutely knew that Vhagar could feel his feelings and might act upon them.
Despite that knowledge !!! he intentionally stopped controlling his own feelings in his interaction with Lucerys in the hall. We as an audience could feel the aggression and anger radiating from Aemond. He furiously chased Lucerys through the skies without trying to take back control of his malicious feelings.
We learned through Rhaenyra in episode 2 that dragons are very protective of their bonded person without active command when she reminded Otto & co of that fact during the bridge scene.
Lucerys was absolutely frightened during the whole chase and Arrax felt that. He tried to protect Lucerys by going on the offense for a second when he spewed fire. No one was even harmed a bit by that.
Additionally Vhagar is a dragon with extensive war experience. She was Visenya´s dragon, one of Aegon´s sister wifes with whom he conquered Westeros on dragon back.
There is no excuse or mitigating factors of Aemonds guilt in the death of Lucerys. He had the knowledge of how controlling a dragon works, he was trained in it for many years. He still chose to act the way he did. No matter how much shocked he seemed afterwards he gave the order to kill with his feelings and he knew it. He owns this brutal murder 100%.
In the book Alicent hated Rhaenyra during the events after Viserys´ death. She had no soft feelings for her (or Viserys) at all, but vengeful ones instead. She even let Viserys corps rot in his bed for days to have enough time to steal the throne for Aegon. Sir Crispin´s killing of the council member was also plain murder. The same goes for Aemond´s evil killing of Lucerys. The book makes clear all those acts were intentional without any redeeming qualities.

Aemond had been affiliated with a pig twice, once in a dragon keep, and once for Viscerys's final dinner. Aemond has spent a lot of time training with Sir Christen Cole, but in all that time I bet Sir Christen never told him the story of Rhaenyra and the boar (aka the wild pig). Aemond just facilitated the death of one of her sweetest children while her life is being threated by Aemonds grandfather, mother, and brother, the lot of whom Rhaenyra sees as traitors. Poor Aemond, the future does not bode well for you. You, dear Aemond, have pissed off a woman with the power of a queen, with dominion over dragons and their riders, who survived what her mother and sister in law did not, by reaching into her own birth canal and removing the issue. Poor Aemond, losing an eye was horrid, but nothing compared to what may, and likely will come for you. But keep acting like a pig if you want.

Whether Aemond wanted that particular outcome, Lucerys death is still what happened. Plus, no one told Aemond to follow and terrorize Luke.
Viserys told Rhaneyra in the first episode that they do not control the dragons, it's an illusion and they should not be trifled with. Viserys rode the largest dragon. That's why he never rode another after his died.
Mind you, this is the start of the war. Luke's death is the catalyst for Rhaneyra's actions to go full on war mode. That dragon Daemon went to was Vermithor, King Jaherys's dragon. Yes, he's large.

Oh absolutely. The thing is, crossing the line is Daemon's M.O. We shouldn't really be surprised because that's what he does - his paranoia and cynicism is what makes him such an asset and such an interesting character to behold. The fact that, once things went belly-up, his instinct was to go and find a solution that would give them an edge whilst everyone else was looking for 'political' solutions. It's a little disconcerting but they need Daemon - someone who is willing to fight fire with fire instead of taking the high road.

I was waiting for your guy’s reaction cause it’s always soo fun. Thank you for putting out amazing content. I haven’t seen anyone point this out but that dragon Daemon was singing too is Vermithor. He’s Jahaerys Targaryen’s dragons and it’s just been on Dragonstone without a rider since he passed away. Idk if you guys caught it or not but daemon mentioned silverwing too along with Vermithor and that’s Alysanne Targaryen’s dragon also on Dragonstone with Vermithor. Alysanne was Jahaerys’s sister

FANTASTIC first season they ended off very 'Strong' . I like how they tried to stay true to the book. Did you notice when Rhaenyra was in labour pains the flashes of her Dragon was feeling it too. As for my queen you have tried to be the bigger person all your life when people betrayed you , when people dragged your name through the mud when they talked about your children when the queen attacked you you turned the other cheek . Now its time to be a dragon the GREENS is one of the worst houses in GAME OF THRONES they took your father , they took your crown and now they took your son time to deal with them and BURN EM ALL . fantastic job guys keep up the great work and may your channel get even bigger

Aemond didn't want that but still 100% his fault. Think of it like sicking a dog on someone to intimidate them, then losing control and watching the dog maul them to death. He created the situation that resulted in Luke's death, it's his responsibility to treat his dragon with the respect it deserves. Especially a battle-worn, ancient one like Vhagar. It's not a toy to bully a kid with, you can't use a dragon like that unless you intend to kill the target. He should have known better, the outcome was predictable.

    • @OfficialMediaKnights
      @OfficialMediaKnights  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Absolutely agree....He clearly does not yet fully understands what it means to be Vhagar's rider. She is a weapon of mass destruction and should be treated as such. Like you said...with respect and with the intentions being clear from the beginning. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for him.

    • @homedogoli
      @homedogoli ปีที่แล้ว

@@OfficialMediaKnights Hopefully he learns from this, but I have a feeling it's just going to push him even further the other way. He's probably going to embrace the kinslayer title and use it to intimidate everyone else.

Intentional or not, Aemond was the only one at fault there. Prince Luce and his dragon are only really young, and being chased by a dragon the size of Vhagar and being cornered is going to cause the smaller dragon to retaliate, and Vhagar is a veteran war dragon, if she gets attacked, she's going to kill whatever attacked her.

A crazy war scene idea in the next season would be (I’ve never read the books, I’m just imagining this)
A dragon rider already burned to death and still on the dragon whose body is impaled with a giant spear, turns the ground to a sea of flames with no music in the background except the sound of screaming, fire, and the sound of its wing flapping. And after everyone on the ground is dead, the spear which was through the dragon finally finishes it off and drops to the ground, dead. The screen fades to black with nothing breathing on the battlefield except a gentle breeze. The (final) dance of the dragons”

I would do exactly what she was doing, but Daemon's so damn impatient!! You don't want to strike first because then the people saw that you were in aggressor and they're going to remember that your whole reign! She was playing it just fine until it happened at the end, And as far as Daemon When he choked her goes... In essence, that was just another big FU from his brother from the grave, that basically said he never honestly thought of him as an heir to the throne because he never shared the prophecy with him so that was why he ended up getting angry mostly

  • @JustinM3177
    @JustinM3177 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Aemond is at fault. He tried to play kids games with a dragon whos seen who knows how many battles and is a trained warrior basically. Vhaegar only knows you either kill or be killed in war which is why that happened. He cant control the dragon obviously from what ive seen in the show and is cocky because he managed to "tame" Vhaegar.

    • @OfficialMediaKnights
      @OfficialMediaKnights  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Honestly, you're right on the money with that one. He is basically riding a killer machine and was using it recklessly to pursue... what exactly? Bully a younger child that is in no way his equal, let's be fair here - Aemond is the more accomplished fighter and rider. This was all doomed from the start
