The dragon Daemon was wooing was Vermithor, once ridden by old King Jaehaerys. Vermithor is the second biggest, oldest, most battle hardened, and fiercest dragon alive after Vhagar. Vermithor coils in the Dragonmont with Silverwing, once ridden by Queen Alysanne.

It's true that Vermithor is the second oldest and biggest dragon after Vhagar, but in my opinion the most battle-hardened and fiercest dragon of them all is Caraxes. Vhagar has been in battle for only 2-4 years, while Caraxes has spent almost all his life on the battlefield. Remember, just the War of the Stepstones lasted 12 years. He's so fierce that he would not hesitate to attack enemies even bigger than him.

Aemond and Luke both lost control of their dragons at the end. Aemond wasn’t trying to kill him but once Arrax got « fired up » that was it for Vhagar. She wasn’t holding anything back anymore and Aemond couldn’t stop her from killing them both.
I found this episode to be really emotional. First with the baby, then the crowning, and then the death of Luke. Lots of tears out of me!

Aemond WAS absolutely trying to kill Luke. He literally gave his dragon the dracarys command TWICE. That’s not some silly little command you give to take someone’s eye out. Arrax defended his rider, with the knowledge that Lucerys was scared. Vhagar is a war machine that’s been through 5+ wars and Aemond thought it was a toy he could wave around. He doesn’t get to shy away from the blame becuase he “didn’t mean it”. He did and just didn’t want to suffer any consequences

Rhaenyra and Syrax's bond is so strong to the point that her dragon can feel everything she does.

You were correct; that was one of the unclaimed dragons Daemon spoke of at the Table.
His name is Vermithor. If you remember old King Jahaerys from the premiere episode, this is his dragon.
He is only surpassed in age and size by Vhagar.
Another part of the reason Aemond looked so shell-shocked after Vhagar killed Luke and Arrax, is that he will now be regarded as a kin-killer. Despite their divisions, they were still family. Those who take the lives of their own blood-kin are not looked upon favorably in this realm.

    But two heads
    To a third sing
    From my voice:
    The fires have spoken
And the price has been paid

Vhagar was simply doing what she'd been trained to do and done well all her long life. And poor Arrax was just a terrified baby under attack by a much bigger and fiercer beast. They both did what comes natural to dragon.

That unclaimed dragon was Vermithor, who's last rider was King Jaehaerys. He's the second biggest dragon we've seen and as terrifying as he looks, he's actually supposed to be the "friendliest" of the dragons. Which falls in line with the personality of his last rider. There's also Silverwing, who was the dragon of Jaehaerys' wife, Alysanne. Those two dragons have a bond that's similar to their riders. We also see that with Daemon and Rhaenyra's dragons. Caraxes constantly makes cooing noises at Syrax, which is wildly adorable.
I love that this show is allowing the bond with dragon and rider to be further explored. We saw Caraxes feel Daemon's pain when he was shot with an arrow, Vhagar not wanting to burn Laena, Syrax when Rhaenyra is in labor, Syrax getting agitated on the bridge which alerts Rhaenyra, Arrax feels Luke's terror and attacks Vhagar.
And then we have Viserys' warning in the first episode. He told us that the Targaryen's thinking they control the dragons was an illusion.
Aemond, while smart and calculated, would be a terrible King. Similar to Maegor the Cruel, much like Daemon. He's a greater character, but he's not someone I would want on that throne.

Being a mother makes childbirth worth it. I was scared during my first pregnancy, and it wasn't an easy birth, but epidurals are *chef's kiss*. I've had 3 healthy babies, one stillbirth, and one miscarriage. Somehow, our minds blur the memory of the births. I remember the emotion and holding my babies, and I have a knowledge of how painful the birth was, but I don't remember the feeling of the pain. There is no joy like feeling your baby kick and then holding your newborn. If you never have kids, that's your choice and you're definitely entitled to it, but don't let fear be the only thing holding you back. 🥰
Rhaenera wrapping the baby herself is very good writing. I held my son for 4 hours before the nurses were forced to take him away. Letting go of the baby makes it real and final. Hardest thing I've ever done is let them take him away. I know from your response to my other comment that you've seen Outlander, and the acting in season 2 when Claire lost Faith was ON POINT. I never screamed like her, but everything else was just like my experience. I ugly cried myself into a migraine watching that episode and will never watch it again because it hit me so hard.

There are a lot of very compelling characters in this show but I think Aemond is honestly one of the most interesting: he's obviously very capable but also incredibly arrogant, which manifests as cockiness - and cockiness isn't something that mixes well with dragons, especially dragons that aren't fully trained/bonded with their rider.
It's also incredibly telling that, despite his aloofness and initial assurance that losing his eye was a small price to pay for a dragon, he holds a deep-seated grudge against Luke for the act - but again, we already knew about his penchant for grudges (as we saw with the pig and how he reacts to reminders of that incident).
Furthermore, it's obvious that, even though he has this grudge against Luke, he doesn't actually want to kill him - the dragon chase was only meant to scare Luke, and he seemed genuinely shocked to bring about his death after losing control of Vhagar (although I suppose you could attribute this to him realizing that accidentally killing Luke is basically a declaration of war rather than him feeling actual remorse).
The fact that he told someone (at least, I'm pretty sure he told someone, unless someone else happened upon Luke and Arrax's corpses, though I'm not too sure of how likely that is depending on where they fell) of Luke's death also shows - to me, anyway - an incredible amount of maturity, as he could have very easily pretended as though nothing happened.
At his core, Aemond seems to have a very strong moral code - maybe not one we completely share, but a strong one nonetheless - and a strong sense of duty/responsibility that ultimately makes for a very fascinating character.

Vhagar is too old for that and recognised Luke as a Targaryen and gave him a dragons death. Vhagar should have dracarys Arax midd air and than chewed him like she and Caraxes did in episode 5.

I disagree on Aemond being able to act like nothing Happened.
There were numerous Witnesses that saw Lucerys leave, followed by Aemond immediately after their their Confrontation at Storms end and the way I see it Lucerys could've been struck by a Bolt of Lightning in this Storm and the result still wouldve been the same because Viserys quote of perception being all that matters is true.
All people saw was Luke and Aemond fighting,Aemond chasing Luke and then scraps of Arrax's flesh and Luke's Cape wash up on shore not long after.

The reason they had so many shots of the stillborn baby is because it was malformed, with tiny dragon hornlet bumps on the back of its head, and leathery skin on the back. It also appears to be missing at least one limb. So, just like Dany's baby, it was born part dragon. If you have the stomach to go frame by frame in those shots, you can see it.
It hasn't been confirmed, but the novels hint at it multiple times, that the Valyrians have been mixed, through magic, with dragons, making "blood of the dragon" a literal statement. It's theorized that this is why targaryen children are sometimes born deformed, with dragon-like features, why some of the targs seem to be heat resistant, why they're immune to most human illnesses, and why they have a link to their dragons.
The Great Empire of the Dawn, which controlled much of Essos prior to the Long Night, were the first to breed dragons. The Dawn Empire was ended by the original Long Night, and it's likely they created dragons for combat against the original White Walkers, who are pretty heavily hinted at being related to the First Men/Starks and Children of the Forest, who had formed a pact.
The books don't make the order or detail of events super clear since they happened like 8000 years ago, but the first men invaded Westeros and fought the children, burning down their sacred weirwoods. I think that this is what lead to the Children creating the Others, by capturing humans and performing a ritual to put the spirit of a Weirwood into a human form, with no weaknesses to human weapons. They kicked the First Men's butt and the proto-Starks sent an emissary (the "last hero") to the Children, and they came to an agreement (the Pact), where the humans adopted the Children's religion, holding the weirwoods sacred, so they would no longer burn them down. It's unclear exactly why, after the Pact, the Long Night started, but I suspect it was because the Dawn Empire invaded Westeros themselves, and the First Men (the proto-starks) lent their bodies to create new White Walkers to combat them....which basically started an arms race and lead to the breeding of dragons and dragonriders.
The Valyrians are very likely survivors of the Dawn Empire royal family, and the books state that the Dawn Empire and the Valyrian Freehold both engaged in blood magic to create hybrids of various animals and men. The dragons are thought to by wyverns crossed with firewyrms. Cross a little dragon blood into your family line and suddenly you're dragonlords.....with the downside being madness, a proclivity for burning things, and some kind of ancestral memory of the Others.
(And yeah, if you think show-fans were mad about the last couple seasons of the show, they've got nothing on the book-fans....the show basically threw the entire Stark/Others/Targ/Dawn empire plotline out the window and it's literally the title of the whole series......)

11:50 It's pretty well established in the World of A Song of Ice and Fire (at least in the TV Series) that Targaryen Dragon Riders have a special connection to their Dragons. In episode 3, when Daemon, mounted on Caraxes, attacked the men of the Triarchy, at the moment the pirates' arrow hit Daemon, he cried out in pain and Caraxes did too, feeling the physical pain of his rider. In this case, the Dragon of Rhaenyra, Syrax, is the one who feels the agony of his rider due to the pains of his premature labor.

In the book it was Daemon who wanted to negotiate and avoid fighting with their dragons ("We must fight this war with words before we go to battle") while Rhaenys was the one pushing for them to use their dragons to attack.
And instead of saying she needed a day to think about their offer, Rhaenyra told Aegon's messenger that she would have Aegon's throne or she would have his head. She also blamed the Greens for the death of her baby (“She was my only daughter, and they killed her. They stole my crown and murdered my daughter, and they shall answer for it”).
The show seems so focused on making sure all the female characters never bear any responsibility for any of the bad things that happen, they did the same thing with Alicent.

Andy Robin you do know the book is told through a few unreliable sources right ? Most of the book is told by a grand maester ( I cant think of his name ) who was for the most part on the Greens side. Plus it had some parts supposedly witnessed by a dwarf court jester named Mushroom who made sure just about every part he told was always entertaining and then some parts were told by some septons who pretty much heard whatever parts they contributed through closed doors and by some that say they witnessed certain things. The show ( atleast so far ) is more accurate to the story. Look it up.

I view controlling the dragons in the same way as controlling a dog. Assuming you train them right, you can give a dog commands and they will obey. Under the right circumstances though Dogs can act against their owners wishes, such as when they are threatened. In the case of owners that don't train their dogs right some dogs will see another as prey and attack it whether their owner wants them to or not.
There is obviously some control between the Riders and the Dragons, however in this circumstance Aemon was playing with (scaring) Lucerys and Arrax, like a cat playing with it's food. Arrax felt threatened and reacted to defend itself. That reaction then caused Vhagar to react.
Also, Viserys is not to be taken as absolute fact. He was a weak king and did not have the personality and temperament to truly claim a dragon. At least that is my opinion of him. A good man but a horrible king.

Because of his killing Luke, Aemond will be called Aemond "The Kin Slayer". Yes, both Luke & Aemond lost control of their dragons. Arrax feeling threatened by Vhagar spat fire @ her. U know when Daemon chokes Rhaenyra saying "Dreams did not make us kings. Dragons did." The thing is a prophetic dream is what saved the Targaryens from the Great Doom (the destruction of Old Valarya), so there is some merit in their dreams. All dragon riders r bound by blood magic which gives them that empathic bond to dragons. Rhaenyra's dragon could feel her pain when it was showing the flashes of Syrax. They believed that the purer the blood the more connected they were to the dragons & to magic. That was why they had incestuous marriages. We see that connection when Daemon goes to see that dragon in that dragon pit, & they r reflected in each others eyes. For some reason that dragon's name eludes me, I just know they call him "The Cannibal". He is the 2nd oldest & 2nd largest dragon. Daemon reiterates that bond in the song he sings in Valarian to the dragon. Anyway, this was another great reaction.👍😊

I am reminded of something Daenaerys once said in GoT, something to the effect of "Dragons are not slaves". Yeah Luke and Aemond had both totally lost control of their respective dragons. The only "control" anybody has over a dragon, is how much the dragon decides it wants them to have. After Aemond started threatening Luke's dragon, the much smaller dragon probably thought it was already fighting for it's life, so it started fighting like any animal backed into a corner. That was all it took for Vhaegar to decide to fully assert her dominance.
And that look on Aemond's face after. He didn't think that what he did might start a war. He KNEW that he most definitely DID just start a war, and was instantly regretting it. And if the look on Aemond's face wasn't enough to drive that point home, the look on Rhaenyra's face was definitely the visage of somebody that embodied "I am become death".
At least that is how I saw it.
I'm really looking forward to season two !

He did start the war by killing luke that's also why he looked so scared because he knows he started it, that last scene in the end when she finds out, her face had a look that she was done with peace and its time for battle. She said she wasn't going to make the first move, she was only waiting on the greens first. And she sees this as there first move.
And no luke and aemond both lost control of there dragons. Viserys technically said if you think thank u can fully control them your wrong. And that using them for full on war can be a bad thing because in moments like this you can't control them, especially if your not trained for battle with the dragons. Which luke and aemond are not trained for neither is lukes dragon.

The translation was confirmed thanks to the language's creator, David J. Peterson (via Archive Of Our Own).
In it, it is revealed that the name of the song Daemon sings to Vermithor is "With Three Heads". Check the English translation:
    Fire breathes, winged leader
    but two heads
    For a rosary to sing
    From my voice:
    the fireworks spoke
    And the price was paid
    with blood magic
    With words of fire
    with clear eyes
    To tie the three together
    for you I sing
    As one we come together
    And with three heads
    We'll fly like we should
    beautifully, freely
29:24 In the book Aemond he kills Luke and because he wanted to, different in the series they are showing in the series that he is sorry, In the book Aemond he kills Luke because he wants to and when he gets home he celebrates and Aegon and Alicent celebrate Luke's death differently from the series they put as an accident the Two lost control of the dragons in the book there is no such thing as losing control of the dragons they ruined everything in the series but anyway Aemond killed Luke he could have prevented it It was just that he didn't follow Luke but that idiot Aemond went after him boy now he's going to face all the consequences now I'm wondering how they will do it in the series because in the book the greens are all happy about Luke's death by Alicent, Aegon and even Aemond so I'm wondering how they will do it this in the series because the writers put it as if it was an accident and that Aemond didn't want to kill Luke unlike in the book where he kills Luke because he wants to, I didn't really like it, they did it just to make people feel sorry for the greens in my opinion , in the book Aemond kills Luke because he wanted to kill Luke unlike the series which showed that it was an "Accident" but depending on how Aemond was and guilty of Luke's death he could have avoided it. if you followed Luke then he wouldn't kill Luke anymore as if Aemond was an idiot, an idiot is an idiot, he fucked up and now the greens are going to pay for everything they did.
12:46 Rhaenyra's baby would be a girl and her name would be Visenya and Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming about a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection to their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns throughout the transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they did Daenarys
Daemon, as crazy as it sounds, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping with the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was more vulnerable and it wasn't easy. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and Viserys's wife died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. for coming. The scene on the beach was much longer with him on the beach Matt the actor he filmed a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is no longer a saint he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him too much, i think the reason daemon didn't go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he was afraid having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her like this. As he fell to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to take that baby away so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome...
Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. in the books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always so jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wanted Rhaenyra to die no and how in the series it shows that Alicent is like that and because in the books she does things because she is a bad person
Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each of their own paths, the daemon starts to prepare for war because he knows Otto very well and is afraid of losing his family One thing I will say is that they both really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or no, they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever
19:58 Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra she says the daemon never laid a hand on Rhaenyra this was the first time Rhaenyra her character didn't really care because she knows the daemon did it and because he is angry and is letting his emotion out and she also says which character of hers cares most about what she just found out the daemon doesn't know about prophecy because Rhaenyra I thought the daemon knew because he was viserys' heir for 10 years that's why she put on a smile side of her mouth because she just found out that her father always chose her and Rhaenyra had her doubts if her father wanted her as heir remember episode 2 when Rhaenyra talks to Alicent because now after years he got her answer The daemon must be sad because he is his brother and he just found out that he was never chosen and that his brother never trusted him enough to tell him and that is more moving A script came out for the first season that HBO thought about putting a scene in the story that Viserys I was thinking about telling the daemon so he starts talking to the daemon but then gives up but they didn't put this scene in unfortunately
I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon choking Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens but the protector of his family. Daemon is not a saint, but he is definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him.
There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did.

11:47 Daemon putting his hand on Rhaenyra was because of the prophecy because Viserys didn't tell him (that doesn't exist in the books that the writers vented in the series) I understand the fight we two have because they don't say it on the same page, do the daemon putting his hand on Rhaenyra, I think it was overkill, it wasn't necessary and the moment the daemon lets go of Rhaenyra, you can see in the daemon's and Rhaenyra's eyes that they are both hurting and Rhaenyra says she never told him this and she smiles because she is realizing that Viserys chose her as heir to the throne because Viserys didn't tell the daemon and Rhaenyra thought that Viserys told him because the daemon had 10 years as heir and Viserys and after those 10 years, Viserys never told him so he keeps imagining in the daemon's head how my brother who I loved so much never trusted me now the daemon must be very hurt because the daemon always wanted to show his value to Viserys and he loves his brother the daemon and someone he has a hot head , he is proud, but he also has feelings, but sometimes he ends up expressing them wrongly, then the daemon loses another son because he already lost one, then he discovers that his brother died Then later he discovers that his brother never trusted him and that it hurts his heart and daemon is feeling all of this but he ends up putting these feelings on everyone else, rhaenyra who is not to blame is the moment he lets go she sees his sad eyes and before he leaves if you notice he looks down he looks at her belly Then he remembers the daughter they lost, Daemon didn't stay with Rhaenyra because he didn't want to make the same choice he made with Laena the daemon has truama in fact the daemon always had for those who don't know the daemon's mother daemon died in childbirth so the daemon already has a trauma because he never wanted to have children, so the daemon didn't want to be with Rhaenyra so he wouldn't make the same choice there when Rhaenyra loses her son Rhaenyra keeps her daughter since the daemon goes to the beach suffers there this reminds me in the first episode of the throne scene there is a daemon and viserys is the daemon tells Viserys that each person suffers in a different way, and it reminds me of the scene where the two are suffering each alone, but Rheenyra and Daemon are mourning their daughter, unfortunately we didn't see much of the other side of the daemon this season because the writers and HBO preferred not to show it, in my opinion the most wronged one is Matt Smith Bro, he did several scenes of the daemon showing the side sentimental of the daemon, him hugging his daughters, he is on the beach suffering for the death of his daughter with Rhaenyra and he spends hours and hours on the ground suffering for the death of Visenya and we simply received in this episode just a quick scene of him suffering for his daughter in the book says a lot that the daemon is a great father and he loved his two wives Laena and Rhaenyra unlike the series which showed very little and I find it very sad because they are not showing the real daemon Of course he is hot headed and he is crazy but man he loves his family he would never hurt his family even the actor himself says that the daemon who would give his life for Viserys is Rhaenyra and it is very sad what they are doing with this character.
29:30 The scene at the end was Matt's idea, he had an idea that the person who should break the news of Luke's death should be the daemon, the writers and Emma gave up on the idea, they gave up, if you notice at the time of the scene when the daemon enters in the room, rhaenyra's attention goes to the daemon because she knows something happened and on the way the daemon is approaching rhaenyra you notice that he puts his hand on his face indicating that he cried there when he approached rhaenyra he is not even able to look us in her eyes
09:33 I'm sorry for Rhaenyra, she lost her father and didn't even say goodbye to her father or go to the funeral, I don't even know if it was because she didn't attend Viserys' funeral and even more so Rhaenyra lost two children Luke is Visenya, In the Book Rhaenyra She blames the Greens for the death of her baby and if you think she is right because she lost the baby it was because of the Greens, her own brother stole the throne from her and Alicent hid Viserys' death, Rhaenyra is pregnant, we all know that a A woman cannot take too much emotion or stress because it is dangerous for the baby and she received the news right away. She lost the throne, Losing her father was a lot of emotion and stress for Rhaenyra, all because of the Greens, so yes, the Greens were to blame for her daughter's death, she would be the first girl child that Rhaenyra would have with Daemon.
Daemon thinks Viserys was murdered because the greens made Aegon king and they did everything too fast and locked everyone in prison, not to mention Viserys is dead and this is all suspicious, so of course Daemon or anyone else is going to think that Viserys was murdered because the Greens hid Viserys' death and they quickly put Aegon on the throne, And when no one says anything to Rhaenyra that her father died then it is very suspicious so I understand Daemon's side he is upset and angry is that now he wants revenge, that's what we can't forget that Daemon and Rhaenyra are in mourning but I also understand Rhaenyra's side of not wanting to go to war, what she was doing is right, a king has to keep the peace and Rhaenyra I was trying everything several times to not go to war and not have blood, but now it's too late now it's war because of the greens because Rhaenyra lost a lot and now she has to fight for her throne and for the lives of her children
10:33 what Rhaenyra said in that scene to me doesn't make sense she said that Daemon is crazy and that he is fighting his own war if you remember well in episode 7 Rhaenyra tells Daemon that she needs him and that she couldn't do it alone , so she is asking him for help, then comes this scene where Rhaenyra says that Daemon is fighting his own war for me It doesn't make sense, Daemon is protecting his family, he is doing what she asked him to do in episode 7, I think it was a mistake on the part of the writers at this point, I found it quite contradictory because it doesn't make sense in my opinion
14:03 This scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful, you can see that it was very different from Aegon, the two scenes are different, the music in both scenes is very good, that's what no one can deny, in Aegon's scene, no one goes on their knees for him, but in Rhaenyra's scene, everyone they get on their knees because she is the true heir to the Iron Throne, I also noticed the reference from episode 8 when Viserys's crown fell and it was Daemon who put the crown on Viserys and now it is Daemon putting the crown on his wife, his Queen
16:45 It makes reference to Episode 2, the difference between the two scenes and that in Episode 2 Rhaenyra was on Otto's side, now in this scene Rhaenyra is on Daemon's side
18:02 This scene references Episode 1, when Rhaenyra tears off a piece of the Book and gives it to Alicent.
My favorite HOTD characters I have many more. My favorite characters first is Rhaenyra, it's Daemon, who are your favorite characters? I hope you post your reaction to House of the Dragon Season 2

I have to say: I had extremely low expectations for this series, considering the steeper and steeper downward spiral that had been GoT after season 5 (and how badly some elements of the series in general have aged). The pilot didn't really convince me otherwise, but with every chapter, this has gotten better and better. This emotional finale was so well done, in script, direction and action.
Despite me knowing of how the action broadly goes (book reader here), I can't wait for the next season.

I’ve noticed people wanting to blame the dragons for Luke’s death, no this is all on Aemond. Using a dragon to chase a kid to his death is like running around with a loaded gun trying to scare someone, it’s actually sick. There’s no messing around with actual weapons.

Agree. I can hold space for the fact that I don't think Aemond was planning to kill him, but he absolutely wanted to terrify him and show his dominance. In the sky. Luke's death is still on his hands. He caused it through his intentional actions, even if his ultimate goal was not murder.

0:06: God I'm nervous. No spoilers but I'm *really* looking forward to seeing future seasons. Crazy to think that this series is adapted from HALF a book. Daemon's "new dragon" is Vermithor, (3rd largest ever, 'unclaimed' for over 30 years) Jaehaerys I's dragon (i.e. Daemon's/Viserys/Rhaenys' grandfather, the king prior to Viserys). Yes, both boys lost control of their dragons. As to how Rhaneyra found out, IIRC Arrax's corpse washed up on a beach after the storm, Luke was never found.
Thank you for this reaction. It's been a joy to relive this series. I 'felt' this episode more the second time around, though I realise the shock level has dissipated from first viewing. Interested to see what you replace it with.

@@funnylilgalreacts Dragonriders have bond with their dragons until one of them is dead. Daemon cannot ride a second dragon. In this scene, he was merely "warming up" the dragon for human presence. After all, Vermithor has been living in isolation, away from humans, for decades. What Daemon did in this episode was extremely bold, because he would not know how a dragon would react after not seeing a human for so long. Vermithor could have just easily incinerate him right then and there, and Daemon knew it but did it nonetheless, because he realized Rhaenyra needed more dragons to have a chance to fight. He had to risk it for the biscuit.

What I am curious about, especially because this was such the immediate reaction, if they open with Aemond telling Alicent because that is not going to go well. Especially because before that I thought they would almost start with the darkest event of the start of the war, credits almost fifteen minutes in and then we spend a good part of the premiere with Jace's mission. Just to have extremes.
