I am honestly surprised that there aren't a whole lot of lore-themed channels out there for FFXIV. I used to watch Ethys' videos but the dude uploads really infrequently...
I'm wondering if it's a matter of accessibility? FFXIV's lore is for the most part, I would say, pretty accessible. You can learn quite a bit from the game itself, and that aside, the physical lore books offer a lot more insight and are formatted in a well-organized manner...
I brought this up because it stands in contrast with, say... the Destiny lore, which is far less accessible: One has to hunt down the lore entries, be on the lookout for whatever lore Bungie themselves post, and this is without mentioning the fact that Destiny's lore is split between two games. I think the lore is freakin great, but you definitely have to SEEK IT if you want to learn it. Moreover, once you have your hands on it, you have to decipher it and how it fits into the game's world. I think this is why a lot of people flock to My Name if Byf, Sir Wallen, and MyelinGames' channels. They provide an understandable, if perhaps a bit surface-level at times, account of the lore.
Anyways, didn't wanna go on talking about Destiny lore but the thought came to mind haha. Nice video. Looking forward to more.

In game? A few sidequests, especially in ARR, do fill in the lore, but mostly? I say the Final Fantasy Wiki also fill in a lot of the lore.

    Nice video! :D
I love the fact there is a deep lore around White Magic more than the old cities of Eorzea.
Made me think about a book in The Great Gubal Library I believe, speaking about the Cure IV spell which doesnt exist for us heroes, yet.
Looking forwad for other lore videos and maybe buy these books one day :3

It’s in Great Gubal Library (Hard) it’s also a tongue in cheek jab at this games departure from regular final fantasy spell naming.

So ironic that you just posted this! I'm just now doing the Heavensward Scholar job quests, which delve into what caused the Nymians' transformation into Tonberries. I wanted more details on the War of the Magi and this told me everything I needed to know! Thanks, Meoni!

    I always enjoy them.
iirc the whm quests talk a little about the War of the Magi and the sch quest has some bits about the origin of tonberries and the Wanderer's palace

As a white mage main, this was super cool to hear, thanks!

It also ties into the Scholar job storyline, particularly the last part concerning the voidsent. Don't wanna post spoilers tho

Okay my question is why is the Sin Eater of Reticence in ShB the same model as the White Lion boss as well as a particular Notorious Monster in Eureka? Is this all the same type of creature?
also it's nuts how frequently lalafells are stricken by plagues

It's a parallel world, it's supposed to look like the source but slightly different.

And some voidsent have the same model as Sin Eaters but one's black and the other's white. Probably something akin to the fact that both are elemental creatures, I guess.

Marn SSJ from my understanding whm’s used umbral aether. sin eater eaters are born of umbral aka white magic and void scent born of astral aether as we’ve seen and learned

I am always interested to hear about the War of the Magi, though for rather superficial reasons. The War of the Magi was a key event in FF6, my favorite FF game, so I am interested to hear about the event of the same name in FF14.

interesting story telling in the WHM/BLM class quests:
If you talk to Senna while a white mage about what white magic is, she explains that white magic was actually invented to go hand in hand with black magic. Padjals actually understand and know that white and black magic practitioners were always meant to work alongside each other as allies, and yet the Conjurers of Gridania oppose black magic. This means that the conjurers guild and the WHM Padjals likely have little to no conversation about the history of WHM/BLM.
The miqo'te conjurer discovers the truth of this when starts working with black mages, and realises that conjury and black magic actually complement each other. This is sort of the "practical" proof of this history where white and black magic were made as complements to each other.

Thanks for the read, always enjoy them.
Couldn't help but think and compare to the times we live in today. Wonder if some of them Nymians tried wearing masks and other protection too and got into big arguments.
Nymian Scholar: "Hold still! We must need apply Critical Adloquium!!"
Nymian Marine: "Yarh it be fine, just my Equalibrium be off cooldown"
