In the seemingly dark and brutish world of MMA, you bring such class ,gravity, and humanity to the sport and the stories of the fighters. Well done.
I knew this one was going to hurt, but I didn't realize just how much. I'm the oldest of 3 brothers, and I lost my little brother when he was entirely too young. My deepest sympathy goes out to Christian and Angela, as I understand their pain all too well. I hope the Lee's find peace and comfort somewhere along the way. The pain never goes away, not really, but you find a way to survive it and live life in a way that your lost loved ones would be proud to see.
Thank you for sharing mate, i can't possibly imagine the pain both you and the Lee's have gone through. Honestly it's just the most heartbreaking thing to know that people can feel this low.
@MixedMartialAcademic Thank you, sir. I've seen people in that state of absolute, insurmountable hopelessness, and it IS heartbreaking. Unfortunately, because of the subject matter, there will always be people that will see Victoria's actions as "selfish" through their own biases, but anyone with an ounce of empathy can try to understand that she must have felt like there was no other way to escape her torment. As sad as this video was, I appreciate that you showed the empathy she deserves, and it's really amazing that you're helping others find the charity created in Victoria's honor and memory.
@@MixedMartialAcademic Angela Lee has never fought challengers in her prime; she faced has-been set up by One FC considering she was the face of the SEA MMA Franchise (her only fault was defeating people who was placed in front of her); maybe a few in their prime was placed by ONE Championship but she defeated them convincingly within Strawweight Division. Ultimately the parents could have played a part in the mental health; to not have a social life with friends (if they have friends to begin with is starting to question in my brain) - no kids or teenager would love to train MMA as teenagers have what we call adolescence as she wanted to die in the car crash; so ultimately she just masked her childhood trauma to MMA while the younger sister couldn't be as strong as her older sister Angela and subsequently taking her life as her older sister told the world via "The Player's Tribute" - a news outlet made for athlete to put out any articles they want. You and Napoleon Blownapart are miles ahead of every other MMA channel out there. Better than any so called professional documentary makes could ever produce. Salute
Finally someone is really covering this. I barely heard a peep from any MMA news channels. On one hand it’s good that the family got their privacy during a difficult time, but on the other it felt like nobody really cared that this huge up and coming talent was just suddenly gone.
I feel like it is a tough subject to tackle not only becuase its not our place as content creators to speak about a family we know nothing of, but also this subject matter risks TH-cam flagging the channel. I just tried to be factual and keep my opinion out of all of it.
Truly sad, because they probably never received proper coversage because there not white, they are asian, disgusting they did not receive the honor they deserved, thank-you for this video
I still remember the tears I had watching Angela announce her retirement to fully dedicate herself to FightStory. I cried even more watching Stamp become a true successor to her hero. I don't really believe in fate, but Angela was meant for this. And Victoria was meant for her story to inspire an entire organization and those close to her to help others learn how to dig deep and seek the help they need. Their whole family, including Victoria, are champions way brighter than any gold on any belt.
I grew up fighting, boxing and did some mma fights and climbes as well took some falls in which my head bounced off the rock on the way down. I won't hit anyone in the head foe any reason other than self defense or mutual combat. The brain was not meant to be bounced off the inside of the skull and it is very difficult within the American Healthcare system to even differentiate between mental illness and the after effects of brain damage. What is known is TBI and PTSD have the same symptoms but the latter can be helped with counseling and the brain damage can only be helped with testosterone or other hormones or steroids and amphetamines and that is where having the government involved in medical treatment is insane. People who suffered head blows and are having mental illness there is a huge chance the mental illness is due to damage to the glands inside the brain that regulate hormones and other neurotransmitters. The only thing that is going to fix that is testosterone or hormones and amphetamine American doctors can't get away with that unless the patient is wealthy and does not need to use health insurance. So doctors fold to the DEA and allow these fighters to become depressed and suicidal and can't remember their kids names instead of using the one treatment that brings them back to normal. This is the reason older fighters do steroids and why older fighters make comebacks. They are self medicating using illegal steroids and street drugs because doing that makes them feel normal.and happy. There is no reason not to actually treat people who have suffered head blows in the one way we know works. It is a inessasary tragedy.
Had my girlfriend watch this with me and even though she knows nothing about anything MMA related, it brought her to tears. Great work as always brother
I remember when I heard about Victoria's passing. I've never ever felt more of a kick in the gut than seeing that news. She always seemed such a beacon of light, but to say nobody knows what's going on behind closed doors is so true. Keep your friends and family close always make sure you're there for them.
I remember the retirement speech and also the tribute to Victoria but wasn’t into one to know all the context. RIP Victoria, and I hope Angela and family do well in life.
Dude, this story is heartbreaking. 18 is way too young to pass away. That girl seemed to have so much potential. I hope her family continues to thrive and keep going. I think mental health needs to be looked at more in fighters. I have a friend who is under contract with dana White. I've flown out to Vegas and attended an event and all that. I always think about him and hope he's doing good. Check on your friends people
2 weeks ago my younger brother who was also 18 years old chose to take his own life. The funeral was the other day and I know it will never hurt any less to think of him or look at pictures of him. I hope the Lees can continue to draw strength from each other.
Remember seeing posts about Victoria and it always mentioned her siblings, that pressure must have been insane no matter how supportive her family seemed from the outside
It's crazy to me how much Stamp resembles Victoria's personality. Seems like a perfect circle after all. This was such a fantastic video, well done man.

Having grown up in Hawai‘i this one hits close to home. My daughter was born the same year as Victoria. It's hard to imagine losing a family member that way. My heart goes out to the Lee family. Thank you for sharing their story and message. Do your best to stay strong, but in times of pain or weakness don't hesitate to reach out to someone for help. We will always be stronger working together. Aloha! 🙏🏼💙

I remember watching Angela live annouce her retirement, and my gosh, it was one of the most gut wrenching moments i’ve ever witnessed. Genuinely sobbed during that, such a sad story.
I’m a brother. I’m a father. I am a son. I am a coach. This made me feel emotions that I rarely feel. Very well done. May Victoria continue to rest in peace.
I remember seeing Stamp (introduced to her by your documentary, so thx for that) win the title and calling Angela her hero after her retirement . Seeing this story makes it far more somber than I initially realized.
I started watching this on my phone then stopped when I realized this was something that needs to be watched on my big t.v. with surround sound.. thanks for putting this together.. love to the Lee family.
Damn, I did not know Victoria Passed.. I remember her first debut fight. She was and still is so bad ass. I wish her and the family all the best. sending my love still for the passing of Vic Lee

I knew this story, I had even donated when she opened her foundation, but I’ve been going through some mental distress recently, and this really made me think again about the things I was thinking of doing. Thanks, MMACademic, if this hadn’t crossed my feed today, If i hadn’t sat to watch it, just to have something in the background, I don’t know if I would have stopped crying in the past few hours, and this made me think that I don’t want to leave people behind. this was amazing. one of the unexpected moments that brought me to tears is the obvious love & respect stamp have for angela, constantly crying & trying to make her idol proud. idk anything about MMA, but i hope she has a wonderful career ahead ❤
I'm from Hawaii, Mililani to be exact and been avoiding watching this cause' it's too close to home. Don't know the family personally and only seen Christian in passing but when Victoria passed away it's like we all lost a daughter in Hawaii. God Bless all of them and RIP Victoria Lee. I cried for a week straight when I heard the news
I only just recently discovered your channel and going through your backlog. This video was incredible and heartbreaking. I donated at your prompting in the name of a close friend who didn't survive the darkness we all dip into. Thank you for this amazing video!.
Wow....that video hit hard 😢 excellent reporting, editing and recording fella! I knew about Angela being good, retiring etc, that was all. RIP Victoria Lee, bless her ❤😇🕊
Really so heartbreaking I wasn’t expecting to cry.. What a family - not just as fighters but as people. Takes real strength to be so honest & so vulnerable, even braver than getting into the ring imo. RIP Victoria Lee, just too young.
Amazing and gripping retrospective. You and Blownapart have easily become my favorite MMA YT creators for different but very deserved reasons. Keep it up brother. This video by itself has thrust my interest toward ONE Championship, big time. The personalities, the high stakes and the high energy fights and presentation. It seems to make the UFC's product look grossly inferior.
You never miss the spot. Always impactful, the quality that shows the amount of dedication and meticulous attention to detail as well as respect for your supporters. Thank you.
Believe me, this documentary is so far the greatest I've seen. Even with a stone heart, this one will break you. I am big on "men should not cry" but this story will do it for you. Accolades to you for bringing lights on Angela story. I must admit, your editing skills is next level. you just earned a new sub and a fan for your great work my friend.
what a touching and inspirational piece. thank you for your hard work. RIP to Victoria and my prayers go out to the Lee's and all those who have lost siblings.
Had to comeback just to be impressed by how the goal was smashed and doubled under 24 hours, shows that the community does care about this and supports this cause it’s heart warming to see.
This is a crazy video. It was beautiful. Great job. You bought emotions alive in this video. So many talented people across the world. You dont have to be known to be talented
It's very nice to feel like someone out there, specially idols in sports, knows what us, people with similar problems, feels. I'm really glad she chose to speak up. I'm happy for the Lees.
Well done. Having grown up in the MMA community in Hawai'i and having the honor of meeting the Lee family, I thank you for this video. You did an amazing job with the video. I know you made them proud sharing this story. Mahalo 🌴
Truly the better documentary of an icon fighter here on TH-cam. Kudos to MIxed Martial Academic. First video I've seen of yours. I'll be watching more.
I think this a topic never covered in MMA people talk about the highs but never the lows and the tragic aspects of this sport. You truly have become the gold standard of documenting this sport and all of its facets

Never cried with an mma video before, I dont even have a close experience to relate, not even in my family, yet it still hurts. She was just a kid, the world was her's, I just hope her family finds peace over the years.
Man, this was hard to watch, for real. I feel emotional right now. For everyone here who's going thru something, please always keep in mind that you are loved. I might not know you, nor what you're going thru, let alone the solution about it, but one thing is certain, we can all relate about what it feels like to have a feeling of emptiness. You are loved my brothers/sisters, take care 🙏
A heart wrenching situation, a wonderful person was lost. I hope and support the fightstory cause and love it too grow and have it affect the mma community for the better ❤
Gracie's are more legendary for many reasons and can never be surpassed because of what they forever did to the sport. But the Lee's are easily on the second spot.
I had to pause the video because I actually started crying. I’m not big on mma but watched this video anyway. As an older sibling and someone who has struggled with depression, this hurt. There was a time where I tried taking my own life. I can never forget the hurt and pain on my younger siblings faces even though they were too young to fully understand. I’ve never heard about Victoria before this video but it hurts me to know that she’s gone. She seemed like such a bright and cheerful girl. My heart aches for her family. May she rest in peace. Also thank you for covering such a deep and impactful story.
Very nice touch with the vibes on telling a difficult story, I was all sorts of cry mush face. Their story is so powerful. Fighters go deep in the pursuit of their dreams, perhaps with an invisible weight on their shoulders that is breaking their back while they must still project strength. That part where Stramp say she wasn't good and Angela comforted her got me, people can be really lovely kind creaturea sometimes. I want to be more that way.
this video was very beautifully put together in honor of everyone involved. before this, i have only heard and read about the lee family's success and legacy, but never have i expected it to get so emotional. truly shocking, going into this without prior knowledge of how dark the mental space for athletes could become. yet, so inspirational how they transformed this space for the whole community. i have never heard of victoria lee before this, but the impression she left on the world, her talent, hopefully can be a guiding light to those touched by her smile.

I’m blown away. Thank you for sharing their story. Rest in peace Victoria and love to the Lee family.
I hope the family and Angela herself are doing way better today than ever before. Amazing video, man. RIP VICTORIA! You will be forever missed!
I hope they are doing better too!
this was amazing. one of the unexpected moments that brought me to tears is the obvious love & respect stamp have for angela, constantly crying & trying to make her idol proud. idk anything about MMA, but i hope she has a wonderful career ahead ❤
This brought me to so much tears... my gosh! I trust this entire family is able to find healing and same to all those also experiencing this struggle
RIP Victoria
this video deserves a LOT more views. Your storytelling and effort is from other planet
Wow, I’m speechless. This gave me goosebumps throughout the whole video, this is why I love this sport and you earned my sub.
Thank you, I’m glad this story was able to reach you!
This is a fantastic piece. Thank you for making something with such grace over a really sensitive matter. My thoughts and prayers to the Lee family
Kinda late to this but this is literally one of the best documentaries ever! Thank you so much for making this!
This is without a doubt your most impactful video yet and I love it man. Absolutely amazing work brother, thank you for sharing this story ❤
Thank you, I really wanted to do the lees story justice! Just hope the video can do some good
Powerful, emotional and truly inspiring episode. We shouldn't take life for granted. Thank you for this perspective shifting video 💯 ❤
Thank you for setting up donations, seen a few videos of people trying to profit from this heartbreaking story
You make real bangers brother you deserve your flowers for the hard work you put into your videos
Thank you so much mate appreciate you 🙌
I came across this family in your updated iceberg video. Glad to see you're covering them
Thought the story needed to be expanded on a bit more 🙏
Wow....that video hit hard 😢 excellent reporting, editing and recording fella!
Thank you very much for creating this video!!🙇🏻♀️
Thank you so much for watching
It’s amazing to see stories like this covered with so much respect in. Community that often lacks it, thank you for the work you do
Much appreciated! Really is one of those true life stories that just breaks you to hear
ONE really do put on some incredible fight nights. Thank you for your kind words also. Blownapart is such an amazing creator I bow down to him!
Great video mate, really impactful. Very sad but inspirational
You never miss the spot. Always impactful, the quality that shows the amount of dedication and meticulous attention to detail as well as respect for your supporters. Thank you.
Can't wait! I will donate as well of course!
I appreciate that! Hope you enjoy this was a tough one.
I swore I wouldn’t cry, I’m bawling my eyes out. Beautiful video, thank you for putting this together
Thank you for taking the time to watch my friend
Thank you for this video. The Lee’s are so inspiring and I hope through the passage of time they’re able to heal from this deep of a wound.
As much entertainment and escapism MMA provides me, I'm happy to donate to Fightstory. Thank you for putting this together. ✨
One of the best videos I’ve seen. Rip Victoria
what a touching and inspirational piece. thank you for your hard work.
Another amazing masterpiece, brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for this, you are truly 1 of kind in this space.
Mahalo 🌴
bro wtf, ur making me cry... i wasnt ready for this.
Beautiful. Incredible job. Thanks for this.
Truly the better documentary of an icon fighter here on TH-cam. Kudos to MIxed Martial Academic. First video I've seen of yours. I'll be watching more.
This video is an emotional rollercoaster. It is amazing. Well done.
One of the best stories I have seen. ( Standing ovation in my den) Bravo
I think this a topic never covered in MMA people talk about the highs but never the lows and the tragic aspects of this sport. You truly have become the gold standard of documenting this sport and all of its facets
Thank you so much for your kind words my friend
Rip Victoria lee 😢 she was a real warrior she fought until the end God bless her
fought until the end? she offed herself!
@@imranxalaminLosing the battle to depression does not equal never having fought it at all. 132 people lose that fight every day, sometimes after years of fighting against it. Have some empathy and recognize that every experience of the world is unique. If you don't know what it's like to struggle like this, keep your judgemental comments where they belong: in your head.
@@TheElbowMerchant omg you westerners are so soft it's unbelievable
@@imranxalaminI genuinely hope you have this EXACT same energy if this happens to someone you love dude it costs nothing to show a bit of empathy
@@TheElbowMerchantnaw Victoria knew what she was doing she killed herself and left the pain and sadness with her family forever selfish wether she was depressed or not
Never cried with an mma video before, I dont even have a close experience to relate, not even in my family, yet it still hurts. She was just a kid, the world was her's, I just hope her family finds peace over the years.
A very thoughtful comment man, thank you
This was an eye-opener & it brought tears & heartache to see the loss of such a young person.
Awesome video 🙏. The world lost a beautiful soul with the passing of Victoria Lee, my heart breaks.
Truely heartbreaking, hurts
Wow what a powerful video, enough to bring a grown man to tears. Thank you 🙏🏻
thank you for watching this tough one
Man, this was hard to watch, for real.
I feel emotional right now.
For everyone here who's going thru something, please always keep in mind that you are loved.
I might not know you, nor what you're going thru, let alone the solution about it, but one thing is certain, we can all relate about what it feels like to have a feeling of emptiness. You are loved my brothers/sisters, take care 🙏
My friend and I watched this and this documentary is so well captured. We cried
A heart wrenching situation, a wonderful person was lost. I hope and support the fightstory cause and love it too grow and have it affect the mma community for the better ❤
I hope so too!
Man that was so hard to watch, thank you
This truly shook me to the core
I remember posting a thoughtful RIP 🙏 for the young lady 💔 such a beautiful family and such gifts of talent please stay strong and proud.
Maika'i and Mahalo nui loa for sharing your story ❤❤❤
Beautifully put together well done
Thank you very much!
MMA's greatest family is wild to say
truet
What a beautiful story. Thank you.
Thank you for bringing attention to the Lees and FIghtstory. Such an incredible story they have.
Beautiful documentary. And to everyone...SURVIVE!
I watched this story unfold over the last year or so. You are strong people, true warriors.
They are certainly warriors!
Amazing documentary
this video was very beautifully put together in honor of everyone involved. before this, i have only heard and read about the lee family's success and legacy, but never have i expected it to get so emotional. truly shocking, going into this without prior knowledge of how dark the mental space for athletes could become. yet, so inspirational how they transformed this space for the whole community. i have never heard of victoria lee before this, but the impression she left on the world, her talent, hopefully can be a guiding light to those touched by her smile.
Man I will always be grateful for finding out about this channel
And I am greatful that it found you my friend
