  • In December 2022, the world of mixed martial arts was shaken by the sudden death of Victoria Lee, an 18-year-old rising star from a family of champions. The youngest of the Lee siblings, Victoria was on a path to follow in the footsteps of her brother, Christian Lee, and sister, Angela Lee, who both held world titles in ONE Championship. But behind the scenes, Victoria faced immense pressures, and her untimely death left her family and the MMA community devastated.
In this video, we explore Victoria’s promising career, the pressures of growing up in a family of champions, and how her tragic death has impacted her family-leading to Angela’s retirement and the launch of a mental health initiative in Victoria’s honor.

“Martial Arts” sometimes fighters put to much emphasis in the “Martial” part of the term. But ignore the “Art”… to have balance you must respect both words and it’s meaning. In the old days Samurais took up other hobbies to find balance within themselves. Weather it was playing musical instruments, Gardening, Painting, carpentry or poetry. You must have to have an outlet of creativity to balance the destructive nature of “Martial”. Because being to “Martial” will eventually lead to your own destruction.

But in all her videos over the last past few years if not more she demonstrated a purely loving desire to live life to its fullest extent and Beyond by expressing physical freedom each and every day all year long in the way of martial arts at the same time she presented physical and mental concerns in a manner that would not anger, upset, making those closest to her feel guilty for lack of care. when her sister attempted suicide in 2016 by not addressing those issues in the most efficient way left the door open for others within her family To manage direct and maintain such physical mental Financial spiritual challenges. and obviously Victoria had such a belief in love conquering all She would have systematically accepted such a problematic possibility. and I know that the most highly evolved aspects of martial arts Clearly demonstrate ways for a person to Effectively deal with physical mental suicide tendencies along with all other types of problems Reducing minimize even preventing suicide tenancies from becoming a reality.

As of now only the greatest medical facilities in the world don't allow their doctors, nurses, or therapist And others to wear makeup in Beauty Supplies for those reasons I had mentioned. As a son who grew up under the love but also the expectations of a perfectionist father (and older brother), it wasn't easy to admit when it was too hard. Whether or not the Lee parents were so nice and supportive in private I don't know, but sometimes just the fact that your parents or siblings appear in your eyes as perfect or always successful in everything can put so much pressure on you to do the same, and it may not even be intentional on their part. This sounds so ridiculous now, but when I was a kid I wouldn't admit that I needed glasses, even when I couldn't see the chalkboard clearly at school because I was so ashamed to be the first one in my family to have bad eyes. One must wonder if Mr & Mrs Lee gave their kids confidence and trust to say, "I actually don't want to be a fighter. I've had some success and I can make some money, but I don't wanna do it." It's been some time now after Victoria's death and Angela admitting to her own attempt, I hope the parents have taken a look at themselves and reflected on how they raised their kids. I'm a father now and I wanna be careful what messages I send my daughter both directly and indirectly.

Never live your life to meet the expectations of others. At the end of your time they wont be there to tell you that you did a great job. So live your life in your terms, bcoz its ur life not theirs. Remember people wants to expect a lot from others and yet they dont want others expecting anything from them.

your one of the lucky ones, most people who do that end up homeless and fail at life because they couldn't afford to upskill due to their circumstances. you dont have to pick the career your parents want, but if they are forcing you to learn math, music or sports, then you are the one benefiting from it even if you hate it. at the end of the day would you rather have the skills to be an engineer, athlete, musician and pick to work bricklaying or be forced to work bricklaying because you have no other skills?

I lost my 24 year old daughter to suicide in 2022 as well. It's been incredibly difficult to cope with the guilt that I think every parent must feel, because our job is to protect our kids. It feels like I failed at my most important job. I protected her from everyone but herself. I was aware of her struggles as they had began in high school and I did everything in my power to help her. I have also struggled with depression most of my life and it does tend to be hereditary. I can relate to Victoria Lee in a sense. I was an academically gifted child who skipped grades in school as well as a talented athlete. The pressure you feel is intense. Even if your parents don't put pressure on you, you still feel it. There's an expectation that goes unsaid by everyone. And I crumbled under it. You're always supposed to be the best, and even when you put in all of the effort that's in you there's a feeling that if you don't end up on top that you have let everyone down. Sometimes even when you are on top you feel as if you didn't do enough. I'm incredibly grateful for athletes like Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka who have gone public with their struggles with mental health and have tried to educate others about things like the expected media interviews and other sports related things where they predict that so and so is expected to win this title or whatever. Doesn't matter if you're the greatest of all time and that you can easily outscore the competition, it's the expectation that is hard to overcome. Especially when your performance isn't quite up to par. We have to do better as a society in understanding the way that we celebrate people is also harming them.

I hope families will take care of their young and have them grow up normally. It might be good to expose them a little bit to other things they may want to do in the future but please do not ever put pressure on them to do exactly what the entire family is doing and achieve the same things. @@nickalthouse1614I think this is a misunderstanding. "What choice did she have" refers to how she would feel in her situation due to the immense pressure of the situation and fear of potential backlash from her family. They aren't saying she was fated to do mma or that she couldn't/shouldn't have done anything else.
Let it be known that this could be a case of hereditary depression. Obviously the mma culture and pressure to succeed due to the family was really intense, but it is in fact possible that her parents were as supportive as they possibly could've been and she just liked to do mma of her own accord/put pressure on herself to do well in it. The attempts of the other siblings could be due to the parents forcing them into the field, or it could be the intense and competitive nature of mma exacerbating their already preexisting mental health issues. The only thing wr know for sure is that this is a family whose world has been rocked by an unprecedented tragedy. They deserve our full sympathy as we will never know for sure what happened behind the scenes.

In all honesty basically what you said was that God's plan for her was to live Guy off prior to giving receiving love in its entirety. at the same time excusing the fact that those closest to her did not pick up on the god-given signs she expressed herself. which was to live life to its fullest extent and Beyond by expressing physical Freedom each and every day all year long.In the way of martial arts at the same time years Prior to such in her Global public interviews and messages she Gently highlighted her age
& medical concerns In a manner that would not anger, upset, making those closest to her feel guilty for their lack of care to say the least. these points have been scientifically classified religiously verified. in layman's terms you're predetermined systematic response to life and death is not helping anybody prior during or after Because I guarantee when you find out what Eternal judgment is like Without her love coming full circle. versus what we have you will want to get to the truth . fortunately the truth is what sets one's fee for all eternity not a theatrical false sense of Happiness care concern about oneself and others Case Closed Mercy forgiveness is not a form of spiritual welfare that is changing these facts for they have been scientifically classified religiously verified. That's Some of what the volcano goddess revealed to me from the island part of my bloodline originated from.Or maybe it was the Philippines were my daughters mothers bloodline originated.

I started going through mental health issues at the age of 28. I'm now 46 and unfortunately still going through the same nightmarish past and issues for 18yrs. I'm a strong and tough guy but when depression or PTSD throw a punch and they most certainly will. That really hurts me emotionally and mentally. Emotional pain is by far the most difficult thing to get through...💔😢💔😢💔

Just by seeing her persona, laughter and smile, as talented and as genius as she was, I don't think she (her soul and spirit) was meant for the fighting world. I felt very sad watching this video. If her path had been on another journey, she will definitely be a bright shining light...it's such a heavy loss of a kind spirit.

This is why we should not force kids into something they don’t want to do and it gets super overwhelming before you know it ….be too late. I myself endured such extreme expectations I felt so alone and hated my family ever since knowing I was begging for help like it wasn’t easy to admit it that I actually needed help. I was lucky I had two good friends that listen and try to support me emotionally and then their my job provider went out of her way to make sure I was okay

So sad, I wish great and beautiful people would just take the time to relax and see how wonderful and amazing they are. So many people do not have anything and die from famine. Contentment should be the number one lesson for everyone’s life. Sorry for her loss🙏🏽

I couldn't imagine the amount of pain Victoria must have felt to be able to put on that adorable, huge smile and be able to hide her pain behind it.
I feel her pain as she managed to do the unthinkable knowing she's leaving behind unanswered question... I have not wanted to live that life for so long yet trying 3x and failing at that as well only made me feel worse. I couldn't even do that properly.😮
    RIP Victoria 🙏💔

That’s a LOT of head trauma at such a young age. Early onset CTE is uncommon but far from unheard of

The parents knew. The girl wanted a normal life. They should have given her a year to see what’s what. The parents are so career focus. Sometimes it works to pressure kids. Sometimes it doesn’t.

It's so sad. I remember watching Angela fight a lot and she was just elite. And Victoria was almost literally walking those same shoes cause she was a great fighter too. So much like her older sister. I haven't followed the brother's journey but apparently he is great too. I can totally understand how much pressure Victoria must have felt being surrounded by greatness all in her family. I remember when I first heard the news of her passing, I thought it was so sad and I could only assume what had happened. This video verified my assumptions. Angela is 100% correct tho...our greatest battle will not be with another opponent but rather with ourselves. Mental health and depression is something I've struggled with greatly for the past 15 years. Don't know how many times I've contemplated suicide, and there has been a couple times I was so so close to ending it all. But I've managed to somewhat get ahold of myself....even if it's not for myself I've realized I have others I must live for(my mother, my 2 daughters...and my dog haha my best friend). I still live with depression daily, and have kinda forced myself into solitude as much as I can. But even when the dark thoughts try to overwhelm me I simply think of my kids and everyone else. If you're struglling with mental health just reach out and talk to someone if you need to. Cause even if you don't care about yourself, there is others that care about you. RIP Victoria. My heart goes out to her family.

the teen years are so tumultuous. you're dealing with physical changes, wanting to fit in, experiencing your first love, and so much more. parents please be careful with your teen children. in my case music was my shoulder to cry on. the album "the hurting" by tears for fears, music by the smiths helped me through this period of life. I honestly don't know if I would be here today without the music.
