      Oh ya and it's worked quite nicely this whole time. Still going strong to this day. Added a 36v front electric wheel to help with low speed acceleration to take some strain off the clutch.

      Nope, it's actually a rather popular bike to install engines into. Not many use a bt80 though plus a 36v hub motor making it a hybrid (in its current state yes I know I need to make a new video).

    If you compare the two engine which is quiter or less noise the bt80 or the 80cc kit with centrifugal installed

    • @commandercody38
      @commandercody38  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say the bt80 is quieter than the 80cc with centrifugal clutch I had on my first build, my mountain bike. But then again the engine on the mountain bike was pretty cheap and lacking build quality compared to the bt80. 49cc engine is the quietest and four stroke is probably quieter than that. I don't have any experience with the 4 Stroke kits however I did help a friend with a 49cc kit.

      I will. Getting caught up with my hobby channel. Will the one with videos centered around a certain theme versus this one which is more or less random and less edited videos. I'll get one up if this rain holds out.

    Hows this motor compare in power to the standard 2strokes?? I was told the Bt80 was either lacking in torque or top speed where youd have buy a certain sprocket sizeto compensate for your given needs.. True?? Your sprocket size is what??

    • @commandercody38
      @commandercody38  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do feel it's lacking but this is a heavy build. I added an electric motor in front to help up hills and take off.

    • @dmoore0079
      @dmoore0079 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The BT comes with a 48 tooth sprocket, which limits top speed for sure. The stock pipe and carb also limit performance by a huge margin. If you're handy with a welder or know someone who is, it's not that hard to cut off the stock muffler and weld up a different pipe to it. I replaced both the pipe and carburetor and can pull from a stop without pedalling and hit a top speed of around 40mph with a 40 tooth sprocket

    Good morning question I’m putting a bullet train motor on my schwinn stingray chopper how long did it take you to put it together. And can I still put the sprocket that came with it thank you for your time

    • @commandercody38
      @commandercody38  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was quite a bit of trial and error, modifications, plus I was still in college. I'd say it took me 24 hours or so broken up through a couple weeks. I modified the mounts from pedalchopper.com and made adapter plates. Then I had to make adapting spacers for the hub centric sprocket mount which reminds me, use a hub centric mount and sprocket or you will shear your spokes. That happened on my first motorized bicycle build.

    *Also, how do you think it compares to the79cc MONSTER 4stroke kit?? Im kind of debating between that&this BT80.. Thats a nice lil build. I normally dont like the lil chopper builds but this one is legit!*

    • @commandercody38
      @commandercody38  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't ran that build so I don't know which one will pull my up my driveway better. I'm not longer at State Tech and now I live at a place with one very steep gravel driveway for a proper butt dyno. I had to reduce the gear ratio a lot to get the torque needed but sometimes I'm still pedaling to help it. If it had some port work done it may work better. I had a YaeCC two stroke, a cheap chinese one and by cheap it was one of the cheaper ones. It pulled me up muddy hills like it was nothing although that build was much lighter. I just need to upload another video with where it's at now. True hybrid, electric front hub wheel, saddle bag and a nice comfy seat.

    • @dmoore0079
      @dmoore0079 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The big advantage to getting the BT80 is the 12v electrical system, which allows you to connect all sorts of universal motorcycle accessories to your bike (speedometer/tach, lights, etc). It is a well made motor and is pretty reliable as long as you keep an eye on intake leaks. It can also be made to be a real ripper if you replace the stock NT carb with anything else and fit a different exhaust to it (will need to cut the stock muffler off and use the left over as a header to weld to, since no aftermarket pipes fit directly).
      As for performance, the 79cc 4 stroke is similar to the BT out of the box, but there are performance parts via Affordable Gokarts that will bring it up to 7-8hp. All in all, I'd say if the electrical isn't important to you, go with the 79cc. If you want electrical and want to wire up all sorts of things to your bike without having to hassle with charging/replacing batteries, the BT is the way to go.

    What size sprocket do you have on the back?

    • @commandercody38
      @commandercody38  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I currently use a 30 tooth sprocket however I may go up to a 36 tooth if I don't have enough torque. So far so good. I can even get around the back yard so long as I pedal to help it get started. Just worry about burning up the clutch unless I have a 36 tooth sprocket

I would visually check to spark by pulling the spark plug, holding the threads of the plug to the head of the engine and pushing the start button. If you can't see a spark then something is wrong in the wiring.

    How's the reliability doing on the BT80 engine. I like the concept but read alot of mixed reviews on this engine. I would like to rear mount one on my Schwinn trike. Since the BT80 has been out about 3 years now I'm hoping the bugs have been mostly worked out.

      So far so good. Been over half a year. Will be changing oil before it gets cold. Recently put on a 36v front wheel hub motor to help with low end torque but it died when the wires were sparking. Asked for a return and replacement controller or kit so hope that goes through. Did go to a 36T sprocket which helps torque and didn't change my top end.
