I just started training bjj gracie barra for a little over 1 month in gi. But down the line I'd like to focus mostly on no-gi, but still dabble in a little gi here and there. I've herd some people say that training gi in the beginning will develope a better foundation down the line to be a better no-gi grappler than if you were to do mainly no-gi in the beginning. But then I've also herd the opposite of that, where you'd be a better no-gi grappler down the line if you started early in no-gi.. So what i understand from the video you would say start with gi first, develope the foundations, then later make the switch ? Thanks man Great video by the way I just subscribed
I think you are on the right path. As I mentioned in the video, to become a good no-gi fighter you will need to train many hours in the no-gi for sure. But I don't believe you need to start with no-gi unless you want to become a pro fighter in no-gi only and you could train with the best no-gi grapplers from the beginning like Lachlan Giles, Gordon Ryan, and few others.
