The worst thing about being a blue belt is feeling like you are going backwards. I think this happens because you loosen up and start seeing opportunity. When you go for those you will lose position or even worse get reversed. Once you connect your pressure A game to your freedom you in my opinion are worthy of the purple belt... Of course there is a kicker.. you can't ever gas out. That's why I am proud to be an active blue belt... It's the hardest belt by far
Thanks for the video because in my Dojo, it's minimum 2 years to become blue belt, whatever you do... Now I know on which qualities to focus, instead of just thinking to add mat time.
Relax. Accept poor positions (because you are going to be there a lot). Get comfortable in those poor positions - comfortable to the point where defending an RNC is a rest break for you.
sirtrevis it’s funny, I definitely get uncomfortable in bad positions, sometimes I can relax, other times not; I built a game around a strong base so I don’t often get put there - but I’ve been putting myself there intentionally much more often for the last few years - any secrets to relax besides breathe?
Don’t let their youth and energy beat your age and experience. Stay calm and let them beat themselves. They will spoon feed it to you. They just won’t know.
As a person that got a blue belt and then took 8 years off and got fat and out of shape before coming back... I hate number 1. Just kidding, working on getting that cardio and control back :)
I took 5 years off.. came back for 4 months and got promoted. I also hate that rule lol. My cardio is better than 4 months ago but not quite rolling for a whole hour yet. I can get good 10min rolls in with 2-3min break after. Then reroll
When he said Spacial Awareness I just repeatedly said yes because people just don't seem to pay attention to the people sparring next to them whether it is striking or grappling
It’s called instructor or coach as well. I’d say it’s a formality to instill more respect towards someone that dedicates his/her life to teach valuable lessons to kids and adults.
Obrigado Profesor Marcelo :)

2-Stripe Blue / Great 👍🏼 Video - as far as cardio, any tips for a 53 year old competing against 25 year old marines & wrestlers in class?

Chris Zimmerman Ossss
develop a strong game that doesn't involve too many explosive movements, deep half guard, for example, is a great area to focus!
I appreciate that a large portion of this was dedicated to personal development rather than "this move, that escape, etc."
Exactly, we focus on that through BJJ.
@@gbsainteanne all schools should, good schools do 👌🤙👌
When the professor takes a drink from your water it means you've made it LOL
Great advice...thank you! Would be awesome if you could do videos for purple brown & black too!🙏🏻

This was really helpful. Thanks for the wisdom.
The thing that really feels strange to me after 1 year of training. Feeling improved strength in my toes.... Still can't get used to that.

Nice. Are you doing a video discussing purple belt?
It's definitely a nice idea! We will add to our list of future videos. Thanks!

Yeah! It’s an important skill for a martial artist to develop 🛡
Oss professor!!🥋
Idk why but I can’t gas out while roling but when I’m doing something else like running nah 😂
Why are the instructor called professor?
