Ego ain’t always a bad thing
9/10 it is inherently bad and doesn’t serve self improvement
It could be used to motivate you. Outside of that, it's a bad thing
Pause
I started march 2024 at 45 and turned 46 a month later. 8 months now, 3-5 a week, i am now a 2 stripe white belt and will be in my first competition in 2 weeks. I love it and there are times when it clicks and you can connect the dots then days where i feel i havent learned or retained much but i keep showing up, its all i can do
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Want to know wats better judo look it up
Combat sambo trumps both of them😂😂
Do you recommend starting it over bjj? Im 35yrs old male and want to learn to defend myself...
Thank you!
Just got my blue belt at 65....never too old to get benefit
The bar is supposed to be on the left.
Little confused
Just keep trying, took me multiple times to actually get it lol
😢tudo inglês
I took my second class yesterday... I am 54 and totally loving it! The first class I went too hard trying to show I wasn't old and just got so winded and sore, threw up several times. The second class I took, I relaxed a lot more worked on my breathing and didn't try to show off, it was one of the best days of my life. I'm a little bruised and beaten down, but I'm so alive right now!
Nice video explanation. Not sure if you realize this but for the adults, you described a timeframe of 6 years to get a black belt. I know how the Gracie Barra system works and I can tell viewers that this is absolutely not the norm for someone to reach black belt in 6 years in Gracie Barra. What he fails to mention is that the time shown on each belt is the MINIMUM time requirement at each individual belt level. Most importantly, attendance is only one factor for belt promotions.
@@paisano316 you are absolutely right
I’m 46. Took me 4 years to walk into the gym where I live. Fear is a liar! I’ve been training just over 2 years now and just got my blue belt! No regrets but I wish I’d discovered this 25 years ago. It has changed my life.
Wait, he started 7 years ago and is already a black belt?
Hopefully, this is good for when I do my weigh-in. Apparently, it’s on the day of the match.
So far the most complicated lock I have learned in bjj
I'm thinking of starting at 47. I've watched enough videos to become a 2nd degree No-Belt 😂
Thanks for this video
Outstanding video.....very helpful Professor
Is the stripe label correct on the right side or the left side?
What a shitty point system . That's why BJJ only works for people who follow it's bullshit rules.

I started aged 52 because i wanted to improve my brain and reflexes. It is LIBERATING, and REALLY REALLY GOOD FUN!
I started at 47 1.5yrs in and loving it. I will continue to do this the rest of my life
Why your kimonos are so expensive, you force your students to buy that to be uniqe, but your staff is almost 2 times more expensive than fuji or tatami etc. This is just business and not cool.
You’re right about the gi prices. Currently, a new GB adult gi runs $150 as compared to a cheap model of Tatami or Fuji that are currently running $85-100 new. I wish GB would offer lower cost options because it can definitely be very difficult for students to afford not only the registration fee & tuition, but also pay $150 for a school brand uniform. I understand their desire for uniformity, but that can easily be solved by changing the rules to where you just have to have like 2 or 3 GB patches on your gi and it’s gotta be white or blue and sell low cost patches at the front desk.
62 I started when I was fifty eight. And I'll never stop until something breaks. The best thing I ever have done in my life. The brotherhood is incredible. Oss Professor
55 and 6 months in. Things are getting easier, actually starting to look forward to going instead of forcing myself and just started to actually get some submissions instead of just trying to survive.
Gi is headache to clean and dry. I don't see why schools still have it. No one dresses this way anymore.
thank for video!
I feel young saying I'm a 44 year-old white belt 4 months in compared to these dudes, but I feel great saying that it was a fantastic life decision.
can you please show how you tie your belt? that's the cleanest knot i've ever seen
th-cam.com/video/RZOgw4RYJvk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iYFdn95sasJ5ToWT
@@gbsainteanne I'm talking about the knot you're using in this video it's really nice. I don't like the superlock it looks too bulky
Yes!
What do you recommend for somebody who wants slim fit gi, but has big legs from doing lots of squats, I feel the slim fit is nice until I have to bend my knees for a triangle or to get hooks, and I am restricted
thats my problem too, what did you do to have a nice gi?
❤jujitsu is the best ❤

Started when I was 43 and am now a 45 year old blue belt. I train four times a week and it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. Definitely recommend giving it a go.
13 March 2024 Age 52 White belt
Both my littles started this week. After the first class of their belts continuously coming undone, I figured I better figure out how to tie it more effectively. I had it down after the second try, using my own legs as a model (God knows my waist is too wide for their belts). Very simple and super effective. I doubt this will fall off the entire class. THANK YOU!
Best video I’ve seen, and the knot is by far the neatest!
When I pull at the end it just all comes undone how do I prevent that from happening
Best video demonstration of this knot, by far. I had seen dozens of these but never had I been able to grasp where the bottom end enters in the belt layers. Thanks a lot! Also, This is great for those of us who have younger kids but it is even better for those of us who train. This knot does not come off even if you don’t tie your belt (or the knot itself) tight. This means that you don’t waste time re-tying your belt between drills, rolls or specific sparring. You can always have a sip of water if you need one because you only have to concern yourself with tucking your jacket inside the belt (which is easy because this knot does not require you to tie the belt tight to your body)
This is good stuff!
I can do this tie with my karate belt but i can never get the final knot to look neat and tidy like the black belts seem to be able to...
Man, what a shame this channel didn't get more views. :I
I guess we can agree on that haha thanks!
Thank you for this! My belt doesn't get loose when rolling and drilling anymore!
From experience, if you are already in shape/athletic for your age, then yes. If out of shape and older, no stay away from it.
loved!!!
Great, concise, and simple explanation of the rules. Thank you!
I thought the brick was supposed to be on your left?
I am unable of copying that lol
I don't get it how he manage to have a black belt in seven years, every belt has his time and are five belts, so it looks a short time lapse to have a black belt, Correct me if im wrong
I agree. It’s a short time but possible, especially given so much great resources available nowadays.
@@gbsainteanne ahh okey, thanks! I belong to Gracie Barra's group, someday hope to visit your academy, greetings from arg! ✨
