I remember 20 years ago i was in LA for a month, had the same reaction as you. Unreal how it differs in Contrast to your expectations on how it looks. Despite the homeless problem and the dangerous areas, its a city that left the biggest impression on me that i visited in the usa. I liked the pure raw- ness of it, the History that shrouds Hollywood and the movie celebrity Culture. Met some cool people out there and Santa monica was one of my fave areas to chill, eat, and shop. All the best.

When I moved to the big city of Los Angeles in 1963, having lived in the southern California countryside until then, Hollywood was a lovely, clean area where you could walk anywhere without worry. The storefronts were classy and people dressed up with gloves and hats when shopping there. Going to see movies at what was then called "Grauman's Chinese Theater" was always a pleasure. Mr. Grauman is the "Sid" you see in the dedications on a lot of old-time stars' foot and handprint squares. He was a legendary theater builder and a big name in Hollywood history. Times change but memories don't.
Love watching your time here in the States! You guys are always so enthusiastic, even if it might not be the most exciting “touristy” attraction hahaha

10:40 I guess the closest from Target in the United Kingdom is ASDA stores, and the other retailer chain in the United States, Walmart has some ownership in ASDA. Target attempted to open stores in Canada but failed there when Walmart didn't.

I need to put up a warning about this area of Hollywood. I needed a new battery for my camera and there was a convenient camera store on Hollywood blvd., near Grauman's Chinese Theatre. So I went in and they had my battery right out on the front counter with a $70 price tag on it! I told the shopkeeper that he must be joking and he sold it to me for $6, then said the prices marked were for non-English speaking tourist ... so that is my warning, be careful of being ripped off! Oh wow this brought back soooo many happy memories for me! You can get maps of the whole walk of fame and it shows whos star is where. The Wax museum is ok, not brilliant but passable lol La La Land is an absolutely massive shop! If you ever get the chance, go to the Hollywood Museum in the old Max Factor building, they have loads of fascinating things about the history of Hollywood as well as various movie exhibits and even movie sets/costumes, etc. Loved these videos! x
@@travelwithjoyandevan3027 Im not sure about Debbie Reynolds, but the building was restored and opened as a museum in 2003 (according to their website) . I spent approx 5 hours in there, theres so much history plus all the movie memorabilia and exhibits are fascinating to see. I definitely recommend a visit but give yourself plenty of time to see it all x
You don’t see a store that sell everything until you see a Corte Ingles. They even have animal adoption centers in some stores. Some have grocery stores and traditional department store stuff
The better place for Hollywood sign views from the strip is from the Hollywood and Highlands shopping center. They have several bridge/walkways where you can get slightly higher up without obstructions to take pictures and get a clear view. Not super close, but that's where I would say to go if you don't have time to get closer.
I did one of those celebrity home tours and it was a lot of fun. We saw the tall wall outside Jim Carrey's house, the big bush outside Sylvester Stallone house 😂and I'm not kidding! 😅

I went here 6 years ago and you are right. It is not the glamorous spectacle that you would expect, especially for first timers. I hope you were not strong-armed by any of the CD peddlers, costumed characters, etc. on this walk. Those are things I deplore about tourist attractions like this.

I totally agree with you both. When my wife and I visited on a mini coach tour from Las Vegas we were really looking forward to seeing it but found it dirty and so tacky. People hassling you for tours and photos and like you said “I wouldn’t venture at all away from Hollywood Boulevard”. We were so disappointed and couldn’t wait to leave and head to our next stop Santa Monica Pier. Which your vlog showed was far more enjoyable.

Target does ‘not’ own Tesco . It’s a British owned company - Jack Cohen originated it , it remains a British PLC. Walmart does ‘not ‘ own Asda anymore . It went back into a UK majority ownership being bought by the ISSA brothers .
Hi you two really enjoyed the video! Yeah I think just a couple blocks over some pretty sketchy areas. Plus the MASSIVE TENT CITIES of homeless people. Which is so freaking sad. Unfortunately Michael Jackson it's not thought of too fondly in the u.s.a. anymore. Due to the scandal of his Neverland. But hey kid u.s.a. is a young country yes. 100 years old Isn't that old even for u.s.a.. Charleston South Carolina. Have some of the oldest buildings in the US dating back to the 1600s Granite their plantations.lol just a little f.y.i. the Hollywood mansions and the Hollywood Hills where a lot of the actors live and where the tours go. They have such massive fencing with bushes that they can't even see the road from their house. And the tour buses that's all you get to see of their actual house in almost all of them. So yeah you didn't much there. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves. But this was a special trip for you with your announcement of your engagement. Which is awesome💗💗💗

There were no scandals at Neverland, learn about the real MJ and what really happened at Neverland, he was in partnership with Make A Wish foundation and opened it up for mainly sick children to use it as a free day out which cost MJ millions every year.

Just beyond Dolly Parton's star, to the left, is I noticed a star half tarmaced over. Astonishing to see the stars cover so many side walks.

If you go to the USA again and go to New York, check out the MJ Musical on Broadway which is getting amazing reviews and is hugely popular.

Chinese Theatre is a very tourist area where must be careful not get scammed. Around is not the best neighborhood (car breaks in)
