    Both the 'Storm and P99 are incredible guns. The Storm was built to run tens of thousands of 40 with no failures and the rotating barrel is cool AF. The P99 was also designed to shoot 40 cal. As a striker fired DA/SA it is unique. I love how it goes from DA to SA with only 1/10th of an inch of slide travel. I have a P99 but not a storm. The Storm is developing quite a cult following although it's never been a huge hit in the US. Ironically both have safety features Ideal for AIWB but are a bit too chunky. My P99 looks enormous compared to my X-Macros for example. As high and tight OWB's both the P99 and probably the Storm are really very good.

      Yeah, they're both unique and... uniquely excellent. Purely for shootings-sake...... I gotta give it to the PX4. But the P99 ain't far behind. I agree that they're both kinda chunky for AIWB. I carry both now and then. But... I usually am toting something thinner if I'm carrying IWB. Thanks for the comment!

    I inherited my brother’s S&W 99 in 40 and have wanted to get a Walther P99 for a while but I don’t see many for sale here in New Hampshire. I like the unique AS trigger system. When I heard about the P99 Final Edition, I ordered one from a local gun store. I didn’t want to take a chance of not getting one. It is a great gun, and worth adding to your collection.

      Nice! Glad you were able to grab a Final Edition. I've thought about getting one... but I'm very happy with my first gen P99. I love the AS system as well. I wish Walther would re-introduce the AS on some of their newer platforms. Oh well. Thanks so much for the comment!

    The PX4 is on my must-have list. I am hesitant on the P99 bc on my PDP's snappy recoil, but I'll probably get it anyway. Lol. Great content!! Keep it coming.

      Thank you so much watching! Yeah, the PX4 is amazing. And honestly so is the P99… though I don’t disagree it’s a little snappy. It’s strangely easy to shoot fast, though. Both guns are unique… both guns are excellent. Enjoy your PX4 when you get it!

      You are absolutely going to LOVE the PX4! While the LTT Compact Carry is the top-tier version (also actually saves you money if you plan/want to get all the extras), there are only two or three low-cost options that will serve to dramatically improve the base model. I carry a slightly modded PX4 Inox Compact - and LOVE IT! I'll list a few of the mods that make this incredible pistol even better.
      1) Hammer Spring Swap - A swap to Beretta's D-spring (hammer spring) swap drops the DA/SA pull weights from 10/5 to approx. 8/4.5... a bit smoother trigger action as well! I loved the D-spring, but curiosity got the best of me, so I switched to the LTT #11 chrome-silicone hammer spring and dropped the (DA/SA) trigger pulls to 5.3 - 6 lbs. (DA) / 3.5 - 4 lbs. (SA)... perfection - Love it! I cannot emphasize enough just how significant a difference this makes in the PX4 - hands-down biggest 'bang for the buck' change you can make to the PX4! 😊
      2) Talon Grips just work to make the already excellent ergonomics even better. However, if you prefer, LTT has a great vendor that offers EXCELLENT custom stippling 😊
      3) Safety/decocker mods - Of the options listed below, I have the 92fs RP levers installed on my full-size and the Stealth levers on my Compact. They're cheap enough to try them both to see which you may prefer. Additionally, some prefer to have the 92 or carry lever installed on the left side and the flatter Stealth lever on the right. Just remember, it’s not difficult to swap these out 😉, and you switch to decocker only for FREE.
      • FREE - a relatively simple & quick operation will convert the PX4 to G-type (decocker only) ...really just removing a ball bearing from the lever. I prefer decocker only (and carry my compact this way), but when I carry my full-size, I carry decocked with the safety off.
      • Beretta's fs RP levers give the PX4 the same style levers used on the M9A3/A4. IMHO, these levers should be stock on the PX4... phenomenal operation and manipulation! I installed these on my full-size because my wife wanted to retain the safety/decocker functionality (which makes her more comfortable). Since installing these levers, my wife has completely taken over our PX4 full-size, so it now serves as our primary home defense pistol. However, the 92 levers can also be converted to decocker only in the same manner as the stock levers discussed above.
      • The Stealth Lever kit from Beretta gives the PX4 an incredible, low-profile slide (includes a low-profile slide stop/release that eliminates the right side lever) and converts the pistol to G-type. I installed these on my compact and still can't get over the difference they've made in overall feel and carry... the virtually flat profile created is a dream to manipulate, and as a bonus looks awesome! Considering the PX4 compact is virtually the same size as the Glock 19, it's no wonder that Ernest Langdon has dubbed it his DA/SA G19!
      • LTT Carry Levers - Langdon Tactical offers a middle-of-the-road alternative to the 92 and Stealth levers, and I have read/heard many great reviews about them.
      BTW, if you needed/wanted a little extra confidence in the durability of your new PX4, Ernest Langdon completed a 50,000-round endurance test on his PX4 full-size last year… still shooting strong! Plenty of videos available, so check them out!
      Bonus:
      4) Mag release... I had no issues with the stock release, but I swapped to the medium mag release out of curiosity and found that I liked them - A LOT! Additionally, I took a cue from Lucky Gunner's Chris Baker and sanded (rounded off) the mag release's sharp edges... much more comfortable!

    The beauty of the P99 is that it maintains the simplicity of a striker fired pistol while also having an outstanding trigger and accuracy. I can disassemble a P99 frame or slide and put it back together with relative ease. The trickiest part is disassembling the sear assembly which is still pretty easy. I took the slide from my PPQ Subcompact then bought a PDP F series frame off gunbroker to run my QSC slide on. Had to swap some parts to make it work. Runs flawlessly.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! I have heard there's some interchangeability between the PPQ/PDP/P99 platforms. The thing I would REALLY want is a AS-style decocker on a Q4SF... but I think the metal frames have certain design differences that preclude that. In any case... cool shiz. Thanks for the comment!

    When you consider the P99 was launched 25 years ago it is truly amazing and still has leading features, like sticker indicator, chambered indicator, de-cocker, brilliant reset. Walther really changed the game with the original P99 and everyone else followed.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a great point. The gun was certainly revolutionary at the time; I feel it took the purely utilitarian philosophy of the Glock and added more feel and much better inputs. They definitely changed the game, as you say: in a way, all of today's more "refined" striker-fired pistols owe something to the P99. I just wish DA/SA continued to be a feature of striker-fired pistols. Thanks for the perspective!

    • @steveh7823
      @steveh7823 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Striker, not sticker (autocorrect!). My P99 cons; slide spring overpowered for 9 it was likely the same spring used in .40 version it can 'stove pipe' with weaker rounds or if you hold it incorrectly and run the rails dry, slide serrations more a tribute to legacy pattern than functional, slippery grip although ergonomics heavily hyped. Still, it's a great pistol and historically important. Good to see a new channel and your perspectives. @@HipsterTactical

      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steveh7823 Haha. The typo didn’t even register. But that’s interesting about the recoil spring. I’ve never had a problem… but now I kinda wanna run sone cheap reman through mine to see if it ejects okay. One thing I have read… striker fired pistols depend on the recoil spring to resist the pressure of the striker spring… which is kinda always trying to push the slide out of battery. Makes sense, I guess.

    Two things I'd insist on for a pistol purchase: Hammer-fired and does not use that Browning tilt-barrel mecfhanism. PX4 and M9 qualify, copies of M8 such as Girsan Regard qualify, pure blowback pistols can qualify.

    I have the PX4 in full size .40 and the P99AS in 9MM. I find the comparison a little strange being one is a hammer fired and the other is a striker fired. In my opinion they are both too big to be used for concealed carry as a civilian. Both would work for plain clothes carry as a detective or similar position. I find the P99 attractive as a striker fired gun because of the decocker. If you needed to shove it in your waistband you could decock it and I think it would be safe to carry that way if needed, These days I don' t carry on body much, I carry a mid to full size duty pistol WITH me in a sling pack so most any of my guns will work for carry in that mode. On body when I feel the need I carry a shield plus, LCP max, G48, j frame revolver, Walther PPS... that size weapon. I do find both of these guns very accurate,, reliable and worthy law enforcement / military grade weapons and carry both from time to time. Great video featuring two awesome guns.

    • @HipsterTactical
      @HipsterTactical  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, man. I compared them because they're both DA/SA polymer framed guns. Agree on the size of both being less than ideal for concealed carry. But... it can be done. But the really headline for both of these is how well they shoot--with slightly different strengths in different ways. Love them both. Thanks for the comment!

      Thanks again, buddy! Glad you're enjoying my stuff. Yeah, the dingus in itself is no big deal... for instance, I shoot my Walther PPS very well. Has a dingus. But it tends to coincide with the rise of very "blah" guns where shootability seems less intuitive. At least that's my opinion...

      Thanks a lot, my friend! Appreciate the sub. Actually, my PX4CC did come from LTT. It was in the first batch of CCs in the US, which Ernest had imported through Robar at the end of 2016. Mine actually has the LTT rollmark on top. You could order your PX4s in one of 4 packages, I think--varying degrees of customization. I opted for an LTT trigger job. But when I got the gun, the SA trigger was so light, it was hard to shoot. It literally had no wall in SA. It also had hammer follow issues. So, I sent it back to Ernest and he gave me what I think is just the normal PX4CC trigger. Which I'm totally fine with. Thanks again!

      @@HipsterTactical For me, it not only was the Bronson movies but also the video games. While the Big One Goldeneye for the N64 didn’t feature it, all the other ones did, including the EA trilogy on GameCube with Agent Under Fire, Nightfire and Everything or Nothing that I grew up with. Plus it also appeared in all the Craig games, including Goldeneye Reloaded and Blood Stone.

    • @HipsterTactical

      Thank you, my friend! Yeah, the P99 is definitely more snappy. Though I will say I was awkwardly squatting to get the pistol in-frame for the camera... so, my grip/recoil control was crappy. If I'm gripping properly, I don't get so much muzzle flip. My PX4CC has the stock CC trigger components in it (which includes the competition trigger pack, etc.). I actually ordered this one from Langdon Tactical with a trigger job (still from the factory!)--it was one of the first batches of pistols to come over in '16-'17. The SA was so light, it was actually hard to shoot. And it had hammer follow issues. Ernest switched it back to stock for me. Which, honestly, feels just about perfect.
