He confirmed for me that he is the kind who goes to therapy to be a better manipulator. When learning psychology and coaching, they literally tell you not to diagnose people, especially coaches, as they aren't qualified. And to add, when you get past a certain level, you don't even want to "psychologize" people, as you have a rich understanding of the complexity of human behavior and all the variables that impact it.

Physician here. I am proud of Dr. Elom’s accomplishments, but I would take his therapy advice and psychoanalysis with a grain of salt. The man is a dentist, not a licensed therapist/psychologist or psychiatrist. A bachelors degree in Psychology also isn’t equivalent, but it’s great that he studied it.
Omg, as an LPC, LMFT, BCBA, thank you !!! People crack me up with the I have a Bachelors in psychology. Ummm, babe, no. There's 2.5 to 3 years of schooling in a specific CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING program; after that, you must complete 600 hrs of practicum, the NCE(which 3.45 hours) and then 3000 hours of supervision b4 being deemed "FULLY" licensed.

Psychology doesn’t mean anything….It’s not a real thing. Having a license from white people doesn’t make you any more educated in this than someone who doesn’t. lol If you’re a real doctor or dentist yeah it matters, but not for this. Any intelligent, thoughtful person can counsel someone.

@@TheFallonCarrington Narcissism isn’t a diagnosis (yet) but on a severe scale narcissistic personality disorder is. I knew nothing about any of this until recently dealing with one. Most of these people are nut jobs.
@@TheFallonCarrington narcissistic *traits* is different from having NPD. We all have varying amounts of certain traits. That does not mean we are automatically that. This person cannot properly or even ethically diagnose him but they can easily identify the multitude of narcissistic traits he possesses.

As a Dr I think he's genuinely a good one but in a relationship this is the man you should never wish on your worst enemy. He's most likely a narcissist with low self esteem his achievements still do not feel the void thats why he tries to bring other people down. A person who is secure in themselve never tries to tear others down like he does.
Criticism hits different coming from a higher ground that one cannot fathom coming from a lower level of thinking.

@@N.A.M.P. Yeah that's the point most people are making, most of his criticism is not needed. That's why it rubbed a lot of people wrong. He gives off "I'm the potter your the clay" vibes and no one is going for it especially when there are many people today who hop online with "advice" and "Podcasts". A higher level of thinking to me is not being a criminal, being a good citizen, good communication and honesty. Not diagnosing people within minutes and thinking just because they respond differently that they need healing and guidance or they have trauma. I'm not easily impressed by his performance AT ALL, plus his satisfaction with life can mean nothing to the next person or it can look entirely different.

Dr. Elom ended up being friends with the young lady he matched with because he realized she was the actual liability. He said in this interview they were both in different places in life so they decided to be friends. Sir. You couldn’t decipher that from the initial conversation you two had when she told you she was still getting her education and would want a man to show up for her financially? What could she teach you at 21? How could she add to you when she’s still in college and has so much more of life to experience? Keep going to therapy Dr. Elom…you need some more breakthroughs 🚩🚩🚩🚩

What I've gathered from the last video and this one, I feel like I would not be able to be myself in his presence. From the last video he labeled people within minutes and did not allow people to own their own emotions or self image. And then when they wouldn't budge or didn't react in the way he wanted he said they needed healing ect ect. Basically breaks you down, gaslights you, and then tries to rebuild you the way he wants it. That's what I got from it. He also seems very sneaky and would use sensitive information about you to use against you in the future.

you notice he stalls when he gets asked about himself; he did that with the previous episode. i learned in psychology that narcissists will usually stall/ dislike when people ask about their lives because narcissists are not actually confident; they’re only painting themselves to seem confident. so when you ask them those kinds on questions that puts them in the spot, they stall because they’re thinking of ways to answer that without giving away the “flaws” they see with themselves. they want to have a perfect impression on people, and the way to do that is to hide their insecurities and things they dislike about themselves- that way, they think they have a higher ground against you because “they’re perfect” and you’re not. that makes them feel like they have control over you.

You forgot to add that NPD is actually hard to diagnose as many of the symptoms are very similar to other disorders. Also, only a psychiatrist can make the determination of NPD. However, I do like your listed observation’s.

when he was in the dating element of the show - you can tell he bases his whole identity on his being a dentist. not very humble. i have a family member who works in the field, and this guy would be a nightmare to work with. he has superiority complex. he needs a very alpha female to knock him down a few notches. and also - you don't need to call yourself DR when you're being introduced to people. i have friends in the medical profession and they sure as hell don't pull that business when first meeting people. it's so cringey when people do that!

I don’t believe he’s peaceful at all. I think he’s filled with rage. The way he read that woman in the initial clip was intense. He was breathy, slowed speech, and intense eye contact. He exposed himself saying he doesn’t accept what doesn’t fit him, but used yeah against the woman in the initial video. His critique of her didn’t land as constructive. He’s using therapy as if there’s a final destination that equals healed.

I can see why he's single. He doesn't really know people skills when it comes to the opposite sex. Although he's very smart and educated and I get where he's coming from most of the time, a lot of stuff he said to the girls is not what you want to say during a first impression or a first date. It’s amazing to me how someone can be so into mental health and yoga, even talking calmly. But still be so unhinged and problematic. He’s not a good person but he does everything good people should do. I know he’s a narcissist but there has to be another word for these kinda people. I studied psychology…there’s a lot going on with him. I think at the core it’s one thing…that I’ve seen in the comments a lot. 😅

1, studying psychology DOES NOT QUALIFY ANYONE TO DX. UNLESS YOU HAVE A MS OR HIGHER IN CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING OR PSY. D or have taken passed a diagnosticticts class and taken and passed the NCE and shown an understanding of the DSM-5 and how to use assessments, then you just have literally only the TIP of this field. I'm a forensic psychologist with my LPC, LMFT, BCBA and I'm very hesitant to give out dx before proper assessment
Even if you do have a MS or a MD or a Doctorate in it,it still doesn't give you the right to judge or give your opinions if they did not pay you too!

It’s a dating show. A show to find love. If someone is not for you then let that be known and keep it moving. You don’t have to psychoanalyze, belittle, or demean anyone. Those young women he tried to offer therapy to didn’t come there for that and they were young. All young people need therapy if we take Dr.Elom’s stance.
He’s a good looking, intelligent, successful black man and kudos to him for that but all those things (to me) were overshadowed by his antagonistic and condescending tone.
I agree some of those women were liabilities to him but again leave it at that. He should’ve known from her age alone that she was a liability. There is no life experience with a 21 year old dating a 38 year old unless you are willing to deal with what comes with dating a 21 year old. She didn’t have to listen to him. He was there entertaining her and him in the end choosing a 21 year old said a lot about him for me. He contradicted himself with his choice so what was the point of then”liability” talk. He still chose a liability. Just one willing to spend his money to continue to better herself.
