@@ericamarchi86 Mostly people are making assumptions based on prior versions of the game. In ACNL, weeds were a bad thing and lowered your rating, so early reports assumed that this mechanic would be the same.
@@Mehkillrat It's true, I use weeds as decoration all over my campsite and along my beaches to break up the division from land to sand. This morning I received my 4th Lily-of-the-Valley. So, many-many weeds, still 5 Star Rating.
RoseQuinzel You can make another account and put a second villager on your island to hold designs. And then you can use their tent as decoration to the camp site
My island is still about 50% weeds exactly because I'm cultivating the wilderness aesthetic, they really make the difference between a forest and a lawn full of trees! Good to see confirmed that they don't affect town ratings by the way, I had suspected as much but I wasn't sure. Also, I saw in an exceedingly detailed flower hybrid guide that weeds apparently have an irregular growth pattern. According to that guide, each day there is a percentage chance for each weed to grow into the next stage, and watering them increases that chance (for tiny weeds up to 50%). So I'm watering a lot of those tiny weeds to hopefully make them grow into some proper undergrowth. 😁
I thought that lily of the flower indicated 5 star status. Until I found one on my island this morning and got excited. Then Isabelle told me we're still only 4 stars. Maybe it means I'm nearing that 5th star?
I was stuck on 4 stars bc I didn't have enough items and decided to try moving the rocks so I placed manniquins everywhere and the next day I noticed a lily of the valley and I panicked, checked with isabelle and she was happy to announce that the many fricking mannequins made my town 5 stars. So... yea. Now I got the golden can and lily of the valley, worst of all: I seem to constantly miss a spot. So the rock moving didn't even work! xD
I missed a spot and found the rock spawned in front of a villager's house lmao. I missed it bc I had paths around and didn't realize there was space for a rock lol
I'm currently doing the mannequin trick too! The past few days I had the rocks spawning in spots I missed and it was so annoying, but today I finally got one to spawn in the area I want. Just five more days until I can remove all the mannequins 😂😭
I've been constantly missing spots too, sometimes it just happens bc I decide to work on an area but now I stopped. I've got 2 of the 6 rocks in place now. As annoying as the mannequins are, now we commited and we should finish what we started! xD
Hey guys just a tip i found out by mistake there is a cutting board DIY that has a bag on it already and you can customize that to the hotdog bag and it looks so so good i would actually recommend it for ur campsite 😊😊😊
Honestly ever since I've started up the game for the first time, I've loved weeds, heck it's the whole reason I put my house where it is because I thought that the way the weeds was arranged was so cool! Also why I put Sheldon where he is because I wanted his house to feel like it was in the woods and since I couldn't dig up trees yet since he was one of my two starters I went with what the land provided
Really appreciate this video! I know it's not really your town's style, but I'd be interested in a tips video about how to use cliffs really effectively - whenever I try to build mine, they just look sort of out of place (even with rounded corners), but I've seen people with 5-star towns use them really effectively to build windy, maze-like secret areas which I think looks cool.

The first actual thing I planned for my island was a cemetery! It's still not finished. but I absolutely love working on it :) It's on its own cliff, with a fence, a ramp for the entrance, black and red flowers, a well, a bench and a table to chill and look out over the place, and a little upside down cross 'pond'

A nice way to control the weeds is if you have a design slot to spare is to use that. They won't spawn on the design. Some nice flowers, or some rocks, or even a transparent design are great ways to keep the weeds from spreading.
I know you mentioned about how it's okay for weeds to spread but was wondering. I saw on social media that there's a way to prevent the spread of flowers (cloning), wonder if that works to prevent weeds as well? What they did was put some custom design around the flowers and made it transparent. I love the custom blanket and paths, thanks for sharing. I also just unlocked patterns for the first time, so excited to apply these tips. Didn't know what to do with the campsite facility and your video gave some helpful ideas.
I really hate that the island rating goes down if you use too much weed, because I seriously like the look of it (even more than some flowers). Also, some of those weeds look really great (like the deadnettles). Plus, in real life those plants are so important die insects, so I disliked it that for the Nature day you were encouraged to get rid of them (I know it's a game, but still :D )

tip for the weeds: if you don't want them to spread, make a completely clear custom design and lay it down on the ground in spots where you don't want anything to grow. works for flowers too
I have so much space left and i don´t know what to do with it. I made a Neighbourhood and some other Stuff but i still have so much space left. Mabye you can do Design Ideas for this?
if you place down a transparent design or design that blends into your grass around them then you dont have to worry about your weeds spreading. same goes for flowers!
I'd like to build a dig site. I just unlocked terraforming. I can only seem to build up the dirt. If you wanted the dig site to be lower in a square, you'd have to dig UP the dirt around it to make the hole right?
I no longer need garden ideas. After a few hours of trial and error I think I completed an amazing walk in garden area :). -I'd love for you to tour my island some day, when its "finished". Obviously, itll always be a work in progress, but that's the fun of it :))
Weeds (& flowers) won’t spread if you surround them with patterns. But if you don’t want a visible pattern such as daisies, you can just make a pattern of a single green pixel. It’s practically invisible and very effective :)
When the seasons change to fall or winter, those pattern paths outlining gonna look funny tho. I erased mine for that specific reason and left it natural with just original paths.
Do you have any more ideas for island entrances? My town hall is ridiculously close to my airport, so I can really terraform up without blocking the walkway. Any suggestions?

just a fyi, i’ve heard people say that you can put a design over the one you’re using as a flag + eyebrows and it won’t affect ur flag or face:)
Yeah I wish we could buy more space using our Nook Miles or when we run out it just automatically gives us more space

You can make a transparent and place them wherever you don’t want weeds to spread and grow

I succeeded and all my rocks are in a club (my rock club, of course haha), but it was a pain for sure!!!

Your island tour was fab! A great addition to your golf course would be some wooden signs numbering them so you know which way round to go.

Your island is so cool. My favorite part is the campsite and all the little details you put into it. I also like the mini golf course.

the problem with using the grass custom is that once other seasons come it may look weird since the ground will become snowy or orange (fall)

About the Marshmellows, dont forget that you can costumise the "leaf fire thing" into a leaf fire WITH marshmellows :D
