The only thing I would add is an air stone. Contrary to popular belief they do not inject oxygen into the water. The bubbles rise to the surface and break the water tension allowing for a more efficient gas exchange, carbon dioxide for oxygen. It will make him a lot more comfortable.
Even though beta fish can survive in small bodies of water they still prefer some swimming room. You can find a cheap 3 gallon aquarium with a simple filtration system, add a little some sand to the bottom and some small gravel then you can add a few aquatic plants and some rocks and trust me it will look amazing and your fish will love it. I used to do aquariums and live plants and it was relaxing and sometimes frustrating but there is so many choices of fish and setups that it becomes addicting. With that small tank do a 50 percent water change every 2 weeks to keep the waste contaminants from the fish down. Don't change all the water because the fish gets acclimated to the type of water and ph plus the good bacteria that helps keep the tank in balance needs to stay for your fish to thrive.
Yes, it's best to store replacement water for a week while the chlorine dissipates. Cover the new water with a light cloth to keep dust out of the water. A good pet store wouldn't let you have a fish unless the water has sat for a week.
If you want your beta to live long, feed him with blood worms. Get a pack of them and keep them in your freezer. When you're ready to feed him, break off small chunks of frozen worms with tweezers, lower them into the bowl and let them thaw. Feed him one small portion of worms at a time, until he loses interest in food. Don't just throw big chunk of worms into the bowl. He'll eat some, the rest will settle on bottom, decay and make water murky. Good luck! ❤
THE STRAINER RETURNS!!! WOOHOO!! Also, I think the beta fish should be named alpha. For the algorithm. Chad "Alpha" Chaddington. He can be a TH-cam finance influencer by day, TH-cam pick-up artist by night. He will have 700 million followers on Instagram and sell courses on how to get rich fast by selling real estate.
Show us your dog! …..dawg 😆 Koo fish thing! Back when I was a younger lad, around the age you currently are. I had a Beta as well. It perished after like 1 year. It was a koo thing to take care of. And I made it happy for its short life. So that’s satisfying 😊
Gin and Tonic... that's really funny! What does that say about you that you would use that for pet's names 😁 Keep up your entertaining videos. Audio was good throughout. All the best!
I am 43 now, almost double your age and I just wanna say it's beautiful to see a young person reaching out, full of sincerity, looking for what this life is really suppose to mean when we don't know. Let me tell you that in my experience I realize more and more that life is what we make of it and our purpose is the purpose we find, not the one we choose so please... keep rolling. You have many skills already, like you are extremely easy to follow while you talk, and clear. Your honesty is a very rare skill. The universe will give us back what we give to it, so keep giving to yourself and to others and when you don't feel giving, just keep quiet inside and let things arise from within by themselves. My best wishes for a glorious or just a very serene life from Italy. Again, you are appreciated.
No way! I bought a Beta fish too, and the crazy part is my tank is a round glass cylinder as well, it’s about 18” tall and the diameter is about 5”. Then I ordered a clip on light and small water filter that luckily fit on the glass edge. The fish loves it. And also, seems like you do these videos “shooting from the hip”, I think it’s awesome! It really makes your videos so much fun to watch and authentic. Keep the videos coming 😎👍
If you continue to do your channel this (as in your) way then I promise to keep watching, like, forever. Deal? Also remember I was here at the beginning-ish if anyone asks.
I'd recommend getting a (Fluval Sea Evo V) All-in-One tank sometime. I used to have one and it's easy to take care of maintenance-wise. I'd love to see you make a beautiful planted aquarium! I'm currently getting back into the reefing hobby and just got some new coral. I hope you continue your journey through the wonderful hobby of aquariums! I enjoyed the video and like your new fish a lot. Please remember to update us on the progress!
I love watching your videos. You have a great sense of humour and your relaxed, real, "just go with it" style is so refreshing and entertaining. And the fact that you're very pretty just adds the icing to the cake. Looking forward to your next video. Keep them coming.
Hi, Erika! Glad to see that you are fine, your morale is good and the channel is growing quickly. As usual, I enjoyed watching your video. You are funny and sunny: it's a true pleasure listening to you (I love your laughter so much 😀). Regarding today's skill, fishes in a bowl make me sad. A big hug and positive thoughts from Italy. Stay safe and take care.
joy you can listen to wait.sometime have all immediatly is impossible, so pls wait another time.dont mean that you have not find the fishj immediatly we love stay with you
That was really cute I did the same thing with almost the same tank when I had just moved to Idaho and didn't know anyone. he was a great little fishy and lived over a year 🐠thanks for the great video, keep it up😄
You probably could have just poured him in the new home with his existing water and mix old water with new. I was holding my breath a little when you were scooping him out with your hand lol. I was wondering if the video would end with you chasing a fish flopping around on the floor haha. Fun video!
You have created a beautiful environment for that fish 🙂. But it is far too small. Get a 10-gallon tank at least. You can then add more fish/fishes if you like.
2:49 Just looking out for your safety. The seatbelt anchor point above your left hand should be moved down. Make the belt closer to horizontal to your left shoulder. Love the visit with you.
Your channel makes me smile as you navigate all things new in Cali, but as for the fish, at least in the plastic container he had room to turn around and not have to swim vertically. Please give him more room. He needs a bowl twice that size or at least remove all that extra stuff. He's going to end up on the show Hoarders. You can call him Sunny (for California) ☀😅
I didn’t realize you guys had a Michael’s down there in Southern California. I only thought it was a northern California thing than again we have a hobby lobby here in Sacramento.
I suggest a 20W submersible UV lamp for water sterilization. Also I wouldn't worry too much about the fish, if you had 3 foot Koi worth thousands in a pond and have to chase off herons trying to eat them, that's stressful.
I'm glad to see you get a pet fish as I have one too and they are relaxing to watch. It's nice to see a variety of things you are trying on your video. You should call your Beta fish, Max.
You're almost too thin to hide that stuff behind you. I was frightened at the beginning because I saw you doing a video with a fish in the kitchen:) I thought it was going to end up as a fish stick.
I'm getting a Beta fish too. I used to have one as a kid and I missed having one lately. So I'm planning on getting something to sit on my desk while I work at home.
As a draw for your channel, I think you would have done better to get a ball python and make a terrarium... about the same level of maintenance. You could have had lots of material around feeding the snake and being squeamish about dead things (thawed frozen mice). More theater there than swabbing out a fish tank, I think.
Aquariuminfo TH-cam channel has lots of good ideas for DIY aquariums and some giveaways. Great work again! I say Nemo for his name, you found him at the store and saved him.
Name him either Tubie or Y.T. (for TH-cam) since he was the inspiration for a video! 🙂 Since he looks dark and light brown, maybe Chewbacca or Chewie. Just make sure you always let him win if you play any games with him.
I have an unused empty fish tank with a bunch of rocks in it, you can have it for free, I've decided against the project I was going to use it for. Only trick is I'm like, 2 thousand -ish miles away. Erika goes on a road trip? 😆
Erica I dont know your personal circumstances but if you get the chance perhapse join one of the sailing channels on an adventure ..it will give you a fantastic chance to see and mix with different people ... at 22 you could be snorkeling with manta rays over coral reefs and catching crab or lobsters if you like. Its not without risks and theres the sea sickness to deal with.
The plants generate oxygen in the water so the ecosystem should be good for just one fish! I hade two goldfish way back named Lilly and Susie! They were named after two very famous blonde pop stars at the time. I think you should name him Ariel, it is actually a male name! He will protect your soul! 😊 One important thing is have a cover like a net or the like to stop him from jumping out.
🐬🐟🐠🐡🦐🪸🦪🐚 you can even get automatic feeders machines ( that attach to the corner )for them too! You can choose to set the feeding to trigger for either once every twelve hours or twenty four hours. Lol. Don't forget the rocks. Jesus is the rock that rolls my blues away 😂
I thought of another piece of advice. If you have a tank, an aquarium, with baby turtles in it don't put baby fish in it as well. If you do put baby fish in it better look at them quickly, because turtles can move quite fast when they see a baby fish.
2:58 "I'm 22 years old... im driving around trying to find a beta fish... is this what life is like?" -Erika 2024 🤣🤣🤣 Yep it sure is. Thats why all the other women are complaining on tiktok lol. The best part about your videos is how raw and real they are. Most people try to make it entertaining and that everything went perfect and it comes off fake. They try too hard and end up getting burned out. I think thats what draws people to your channel. Like when you tried to push the raspberries through the strainer and it wouldnt go (honestly shocked me too) and you are like I guess the seeds are going in the smoothie. Still cracks me up. You could have just gone outside and picked up some rocks but you braved traffic again and bought some. At least you were able to pick the color and make it how you wanted. It wasn't just making the fish bowl. It was the struggle of making it. Everyone else goes through the same thing. It looks easy till you try then you discover the devil is in the details. Overcoming them successfully is what life is all about.
The only thing I would add is an air stone. Contrary to popular belief they do not inject oxygen into the water. The bubbles rise to the surface and break the water tension allowing for a more efficient gas exchange, carbon dioxide for oxygen. It will make him a lot more comfortable.
"I'm 22 years old, driving around, trying to find a beta fish... is this what life is?"
Yes... pretty much.
Even though beta fish can survive in small bodies of water they still prefer some swimming room. I was just thinking the same type of thing. Her current container is insufficient. The fish needs to move more and be less constricted.
I think the bowl is to small. By something at least 5 times this size!
I agree.
I had one of these beta's live for around 4 years, his name was Gill and he was a good fish.
this is more than the average lifetime
And the best thing is he even survived the whole procedure 😅😆
Your spontaneity is a major asset, in my opinion. You seem to embrace your mistakes. That is part of what I enjoy about your channel.
We had trouble keeping fish in a bowl alive. Turns out chlorinated tap water is toxic.

Erika, you have a good heart. And you're lots of fun to watch. Life is generally frustrating. Never stop trying.
Agree, listen to the fishers, and get a small tank and aerator.

Dear Erica, / YOU, ...and your videos, are so likeable !!! // It's always great to see you. // -Paul from Chicago
Show us your dog! …..dawg 😆
Koo fish thing! Back when I was a younger lad, around the age you currently are. I had a Beta as well. It perished after like 1 year. It was a koo thing to take care of. And I made it happy for its short life. So that’s satisfying 😊
Yeah, Erika, that's pretty much what life is. Welcome to adulthood!
You literally could do anything on here and people will watch. You have the sweetest personality and your just pleasant to listen too
I like it when I start your videos and you say
I didn’t film an intro !!!! That’s hilarious.
Gin and Tonic... that's really funny! What does that say about you that you would use that for pet's names 😁 Keep up your entertaining videos. Audio was good throughout. All the best!
He's eyeballing that T-Fal lol!! Fun vid!

😻 You've made a pretty cool betta tank the colors match very well! Thank you for sharing!
I like the tiny fish bow!l 🤩 have a nice new week friend!
If you continue to do your channel this (as in your) way then I promise to keep watching, like, forever. Deal? Also remember I was here at the beginning-ish if anyone asks.
Bettas are comparatively easy to care for. You might think about getting a larger container. They do better when they can swim around.
Ok...well...you got us involved...so now we have to have updates for the plants and the fish....!
I'd recommend getting a (Fluval Sea Evo V) All-in-One tank sometime. I used to have one and it's easy to take care of maintenance-wise. I'd love to see you make a beautiful planted aquarium! I'm currently getting back into the reefing hobby and just got some new coral.

I predict your going to have a very successful TH-cam channel, your fun.
You should have gone to Goodwill to find a container for your fish. It would have been cheaper 😮
More surfing! The only thing missing from that episode was a tongue in cheek, hands on hips, silhouette against the sunset😂. Good luck. Keep it up.
I love watching your videos. You have a great sense of humour and your relaxed, real, "just go with it" style is so refreshing and entertaining. And the fact that you're very pretty just adds the icing to the cake. Looking forward to your next video. Keep them coming.

Really GREAT video !! Keep up being you !!

Just looking out for your safety.
The seatbelt anchor point above your left hand should be moved down.
Make the belt closer to horizontal to your left shoulder.
Love the visit with you.
God effort. Thought I've never seen such a small aquarium before. I think you should get one about the size of your table length and width
I love the variety of your videos!

Hello fish are cool. Thought you were gonna cook and clean one tbh. Aquariums are awesome. Loved my beta.betas eat flakes too. Call him Pablo.
I like you & your fish. 👍🏼
"Super Fans of this Channel" .... You've come a long way in a month
I didn’t realize you guys had a Michael’s down there in Southern California. I only thought it was a northern California thing than again we have a hobby lobby here in Sacramento.
The editing is hilarious.
Great 🐟 🐠 rescue 😅. Good luck hope you have an awesome week
Give that damn fish some space 😂
Great intro
Love the videos Erika. You should call him Fin.
Zaful haul!!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I suggest a 20W submersible UV lamp for water sterilization. Also I wouldn't worry too much about the fish, if you had 3 foot Koi worth thousands in a pond and have to chase off herons trying to eat them, that's stressful.
Fun. I think he needs more freedom, too much stuff in the bowl. Nice video.
I'm glad to see you get a pet fish as I have one too and they are relaxing to watch. It's nice to see a variety of things you are trying on your video. You should call your Beta fish, Max.
Blonde and blue color fish matches you. LOL
There's still time to become a marine scientist!!☺
You're almost too thin to hide that stuff behind you. I was frightened at the beginning because I saw you doing a video with a fish in the kitchen:) I thought it was going to end up as a fish stick.
nice Fish
💯🐟 nice wow I had to feed my nephews’ fish recently when my family got trapped out of town by weather - yeah wow💦♾♾♾♾♾😘🥰😍🗽🗽🗽🤩🤩🤩🌈🌈🌈🤞🤞🤞☮️💟🐟
Call him Bob, because if you don't look after him that's what he'll end up doing 😅
Love your channel ❤
Call him Fisher
Beautiful Erika 🌺 did you ever stand up on a wave 🌊 you looked like you were overflowing with happiness
They like to like swim around in things... And threw them.😂
Not sure as I have not had fish 🐟 in a tank for awhile. But I think the fish needs a bubbler to help him breathe and stay well 🤔
Bowser is a good name for a fish.
You give vibes like Darryl Hannah in the movie Wall Street as an interior decorator or an art gallery person
Happy Sunday to ya 🤗
I’m curious to see how the fish adapt to their new home.
Pretty results. 😊
Gotta Name the fish Bob,Bill,Don,John🤔🐠🐟🐡
I'm getting a Beta fish too. I used to have one as a kid and I missed having one lately. So I'm planning on getting something to sit on my desk while I work at home.

Maybe add a colored back light to enhance it? Another fine job.
Erika you babe. grab a 10 gallon tank , more room to swim..you can grab one relatively cheap at walmart
I was just thinking this as well.
"babe" ???
Aquariuminfo TH-cam channel has lots of good ideas for DIY aquariums and some giveaways. Great work again! I say Nemo for his name, you found him at the store and saved him.

he needs more room, the poor thing
How about calling your fish Eric 😊
Success!
A good name for your fish -Jaws !! XX
I had a beta once. Named it Bait

gorgeous hair!!!

Cool new Fish, name him, Eric!
Eric the Fish, like in Monty Python.
Optionally, you could have used fish sticks 😄
