OMG those are just gorgeous! I absolutely love to see how the different colors of weft changes the overall look of the towel. So Inspired!! Thank you Trish❣
Sometimes I am sad to get to the end of a pretty warp, but I have so many ideas for new ones right now that I don't mind as much. There will be a table runner coming for the holidays in a couple months It's in the plans anyway!
I just filled a virtual shopping cart with autumn and Christmas colors, so i could make a bunch of holiday towels. I don't know exactly why I love weaving towels so much. It's a bit weird.
great stuff my great grandma an my mothers side was a weaver not for fun though it was a very minimal paying job during the Depression in Switzerland she did contract work for a textile company. Her loom almost took over her whole living space I saw a photo of her weaving. This looks like more fun lol.
I would love a floor loom, but they take up so much space! I can't get enough of weaving, but I've never had to do it for a job, so I think that changes everything! Thanks for watching I absolutely loved watching your video that showed your art in the cafe it's shown in.
Love those colors together! This so makes me want to pull out the little tabletop loom I got as a Christmas gift in the 70's and try my hand at weaving some handspun.
Hey Trish, loved this video 😊 The tea towels look great....it's interesting to see how diff they look with each colour change. Hope you had fun camping
Thank you, and thank you! I am in a weird stage with my hair right now, not really knowing what to do with it, so sometimes I love it and sometimes it's shocking 😂
I binge watched quite a few of your videos yesterday. I especially enjoyed the jeans rug. Really great stuff! I don't have a loom yet, but want to get one, hopefully soon-ish. I am wondering if you could do something between your towels like you did at each end of that rug?. Use thinner yarn to create fabric that would be less bulky to make into a hem? I know nothing about weaving but when you make a large length of fabric like that in the future, it seems like it would make separating the towels a bit more precise. Just a thought. Anyway, you are definitely an inspiration!
You can always add whatever type of material you'd like to make a hem selvae, but these were very easy to cut apart at a color change, so I really didn't need to. I like the hems a little bulkier so they have some weight and things hang properly anyway. But you could do that if the hems weren't the way you wanted them! There's lot of ways to do anything and everything in the fiber world!
What size reed did you use? Your ends per inch? Love your colorful towels, I need to do more color weaving and just let go of the technical stuff a bit more. ;-) I've got the 8 shaft 32" Ashford table loom and the original schacht 25" rigid heddle loom.
Hello Trish. Wow, your dish towels are beautiful! !! Wondering what size threads you use, where from? I am in Cleveland, Ohio . Thanks for inspiring me. Keep fiber creating!!
I have bought my dish towel cotton at Great Northern Weaving in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It's 8/2 cotton, so there are a bunch of places that have similar stuff. Have fun!
@@FiberLoveDiary Hello Trish, I appreciate your kind reply! ! I am a novice weaver, only have made 2 scarves in my 32 in Kromsky. I am enchanted by your weaving! Soon will weave a trail something to warm up. Now I am working on face masks for the food bank. Stay safe!
What is the amount of shrinkage once washed and dried? Looking forward to learning what brainstorm (s) you had while weaving this set! They look great :)
I will put shrinkage in the finishing video. They aren't washed yet, but I am working through the process. I have to open up and vacuum out my sewing machine first 😬 No fun!
I realize it has been sometime since you made this video but I started dish towels at least maybe 2 yrs. I understand how long you make them but how do I cut them apart and finish them off. I was out of commission since I started them and today I looked and really want to continue. Thank you Trish
I like to zig zag the edges, cut them with a straight edge and rotary cutter, then I turn the edge up twice, iron and sew the hem on a sewing machine. I'll look for a link.
Our bigger dog got out of balance from an antibiotic, so we're fighting it topically, and in his gut (no carbs, probiotics, you probably know the drill already). Our first vet with him thought he was gluten sensitive, but now we know it's any carb. Thanks for making me feel a little bit less weird!
No worries! I do not double the weft. This is the weight I really like for my towels, but you could double it if you wanted to. It's really just personal preference.
I made some face cloths about a year ago. That linen, holy cow! But it really washed up nicely and made a nice gift, so it was okay. The warp sagged though like crazy!
Do you or have you used Mercerized cotton? I hope to weave some dish towels this summer and I want to be reasonably happy with the result and not spend money on the “wrong” cotton. Opinion?
I have made them with mercerized cotton before, BUT it does not absorb water as easily. I'm not actually sure what they do to it to make it that way. I had to wash them quite a few more times before they absorbed like unmercerized, so if you are buying yarn, I would just go with unmercerized.
Fiber Love Diary I’m doing some research for pros and cons of mercerized vs. unmercerized . I will look into the process of mercerization. So far I’ve learned that mercerized cotton is more lustrous, stronger, less linty, less likely to break and shred as warp. Sooo maybe the shorter cotton fibers (think cotton ball absorption capability) are removed? If mercerized eventually becomes more absorbent with time... Taking a trip to nearby Webs this week with a huge amount of store credit.😃 I’m also intrigued by the Cottolin and may just make that leap. Always wanted to make kitchen towels and haven’t woven much on my R H or tapestry loom so I hope I’m not biting off too much. If you’re interested I’ll report back on the mercerization process. New subscriber and I’m enjoying your videos. ❤️
Have you ever, or do you know who has, woven dish towels with Lily Sugar N Cream cotton. I just made 4 for my daughter on my RH 24" with a 7.5 heddle. They are very pretty, but kind of thick? I've washed and dried them twice, and there was no change. Grrr
When I very first got my loom, I did but they were very small. It was more of an experiment, but I wasn't happy with the fabric (as you're describing) so I have not used it again for that. I do like it for dishcloths tho.
Hi, I've woven many dish towels using Lily Sugar N Cream cotton for warp and 8/2 cotton for weft. That combination has worked well for me. I'm looking forward to using 8/2 cotton for both warp and weft now that I've seen these towels woven with a double thread in each slot and hole.
I have to think there must be some truth to that. Also, maybe a little bit of control issues. I really only spin and weave and wash and dye because I don't want to put up with things the way other people make them. 😂 Control freak!
I agree. Who cares even when people do see us? I realize I have never thought about a person's weight when deciding if I like or love them, so why would I think people are making that decision about me? It's really something that just holds us back.
OMG those are just gorgeous! I absolutely love to see how the different colors of weft changes the overall look of the towel. So Inspired!! Thank you Trish❣
Thanks for your inspiring Videos! And the beginnerfriendly explanations! Big hug from Germany 🤗
Normal is different for everyone. Cooking your dogs food isn't the weirdest normal I've heard of.
Those colors are amazing! They turned out great!
That's true! I just feel like we've crossed some kind of crazy line right now 😂
Hi!, just love your attitude and your towel design.
Thank you! 😊 I am getting inspired to do towels again!
Everytime I watch you weave it makes me more and more certain that I really really want my own loom.
I used to think weavers were crazy. Now I know they are, but it's a good crazy 😜
Your glowing and so enjoyable to watch. This was such a lovely way to end my day. Thank you.
I'm so glad!
I seriously can’t get enough of your videos! 😂😂😂
That's so nice, thank you!
It's so pretty. It could even work as a scarf or table runner if not cut to make the dish cloths.

Ohhh love them. Makes me want to finish up the scarf I have on the loom and start towels. Thanks for another great video can’t wait till the next one.
You are so welcome!
LOL we have a Yorkie, a very spoiled Yorkie. He hates "dog" food. We cook his dogfood, I totally understand :)
I love to hear that we are not alone 😂
Those are gorgeous I love them. And little Luther had to come visit at the end!
He is never far away!
The dish cloths look sooooo nice! Wow
Thank you!
The gray is definitely my fave. 😍
Whichever one is in front of me is my favorite. It's bad. It makes me just want to weave and knit all the time.
Amazing !!! Beautiful.... Love the coral
Coral and I are currently having a fling 😂
Beautiful
These are so beautiful. I love the variety yet they're a matched set. I'm looking forward to the waffle weave
Last time I did towels, they all had a plain white weft, and it got boring to weave, so this really helped. Thank you!
Hey Trish, loved this video 😊 The tea towels look great....it's interesting to see how diff they look with each colour change. Hope you had fun camping
Thanks! We had a lovely time, but it was SO COLD. I will have to knit some more sweaters and blankets for our camper 😂😜
Beautiful ! Enjoying all the beauty of the weaving. 👍
Thank you so much 😀
They are looking fantastic!
You look amazing and those towels are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what you create next 😁
Thanks so much! 😊
Your videos are a bright ray on a cloudy day :) Thank you for sharing your beautiful work!
Wow, thank you!
I can’t wait to see those finished! I love how changing the weft gives such a subtle change to each towel. I’m definitely going to try this!
I feel the same way. I just love changing the weft to make them coordinate, but not all the same. Thanks!
I love how these turned out!
Thank you!
Beautiful towels! And I love your hair, so cute!❤️

Thanks for sharing! I still want to try some dish towels
You've been weaving a lot lately. Maybe you need another loom 😂😬
Fiber Love Diary I already have two and I think someone may kill me if I get another lol 😇
Trish love your dish towels. I can’t decide if the white weft or coral weft is my fav.
I keep trying to decide too but i can't.

How do you stop from pulling your edges in when I'm on my loom for some reason I made a fool I guess my thread too tight
Luckyyyyyy!
The towels look great. Did you write down the pattern?
I am keeping notes, and I made a schematic, so I guess the answer is, "Kind of".
Will you share the schematics?

When you change colors, is that a new towel, or just a weft change. How do you separate them?
It's a new towel. I will show in the finishing video that is scheduled for this week.
