With GIST Yarn & Fiber, Kelly Casanova, and you, all I want to do is stay home and weave. Thank you for your inspiration, teaching, and developing your warping bar.
@@sandragalati6281 Hi, Sandra! You can email me at neverendingknitnight@gmail.com. I will be taking preorders for our next order. We are almost sold out of our first order.
I used to notice that the end that went through the hold always looked better, so I just tried it one time and now i'm hooked. Even if I have to remove the last thread from the slot in the end, I don't mind. My selvages look much better.
That's an interesting way to plan the warp. So many colors, I can't wait to see how it turns out. I've only woven dish towels twice, only used 2-3 colors each time, with the guidance of a class. I like your color combinations.
Liked this video. Am just starting some towels. Using 8/2 cotton. Thought of using a 15 dent reed but like your choice of the 12.5 and doubling the ends. I may give that a shot. Always like your videos.
Thank you! I have tried a few different heddles and warps and stuff. This seems to be the weight of towel that I like best, at least for now. Plus, the double warp gives you the option of easily using odd numbers in your warp planning. When you are warping and sleying, it's a lot trickier to use odd numbers. Have fun with your towels!
Fiber Love Diary You bring your loom camping? Lol I thought I was bad bringing my rug hooking & rug frame camping. Granted it’s about half the size of a spinning wheel but still takes up some space in the camper. it’s so fun to have it with on a vacation though isn’t it?
I'm not a weaver, but I did a little weaving to make a project bvag as an example. A few months ago a lady asked me about a project bag, I was using. She wanted to make project bag from her weaving, so I went thinking about how to make project bag from a yarn store rather than from a fabric store. I shared it with you on Instagram.
Thank you! I have looked at some patterns for project bags, and I have made some small notions bags. I love them, but I struggle a little bit with the different level of stability from the handwoven stuff. I use fusible interfacing, but it is still different. I guess I should experiment if I ever want to get good 😂
Yep, they are in my Etsy shop. www.etsy.com/shop/FiberLoveDiary?ref=seller-platform-mcnav It is totally a game changer for me. There are a couple newer videos showing more ways they can help you out too!
Yes, you heard me right. I used to have quite a few machines and I still have two. I only use them for making blanks now, but I used to do light refurb and resell them.
There is still a pretty active guild about an hour from me. I liked them, but I couldn't just put them in a project bag and take off like I can do with handknitting, so I ended up selling most of them.
I love my knitting machines! I have 2 Brother bulky with ribbers, 1 has a motor, a brother electric standard with ribber and a Singer. Is the cotton the 8/2 from great northern weaving?
How do I make sure my warp begins and ends in a hole? I tried it on my first project but still ended up with one warp thread in a hole on one side of the scarf and in a slot on the other side. 🤔 I love your videos. You’re a hoot. 😊
I'm going to attempt to follow you doing this towel. I'm fairly new at this as well. I have 8/4 carpet warp (I usually do bands, so I need the strength). Do you or anybody else know if 8/4 would make a good dish towel? What do you think the texture, or the drape would be like? I assume, since it's the same size, I would still double it up on the 12.5 heddle? I'm liking these videos. I feel like I can almost relate. (I'm not quite "there" yet with my RHL weaving).
It will totally work. The towels will be a little stiff at first, but just give them a couple of good washes and dryer runs to soften them and improve absorbency. As you continue to wash them, they will get softer and more absorbent.
Really beautiful work, thank you so much, I’m so interested because I picked up a beautiful smaller floor loom secondhand and still don’t know how to use it. 🕊❤️👍🏻
Hooray, more weaving with Trish 😍 I love all your dish towels. I wish I could have watched you make the Arizona ones, , they are really lovely and I am really new at this so please do share details about your weaving techniques like the waffle weaving. I find some waffle weave patterns have warp floats that are too long. Anyway, your colours are beautiful as always, very excited to watch the process. Do you use Brassard cotton cone yarns Trish? I hope the flood situation is all behind you and you be well too❤️
We actually flooded again a week ago Sunday night. It was terrible. We were up all night trying to keep it out of the house. What a mess, but compared to a lot of other people in my state, we were still lucky. I am using 8/2 cotton from Great Northern Weaving! It is lovely for towels.
These videos are so helpful - thank you! I'm a beginner weaver, and have a Schacht 20" Flip Rigid Heddle Loom, so this pattern would be a little too big. How do you calculate the number of strands to get to the right width (how does 251 strands = 20" towels?) Also, you mention you double the yarn in each pass ... so when you say 251 strands is that 125 doubled strands, or trips to the warping peg and back? Finally, what do you mean that you prefer to use the last hole - do you literally weave through the entire heddle? Thanks for any info - I'm following along with you!
I use a 12.5 dpi heddle, so 250/12.5 is 20. Then I add one, because I like the strand on EACH end to go through a hole. My selvages are nicer that way. I hope I said 251 ends, not strands, but I'm not sure. I don't usually say strands because it would be misleading. These ends each consist of two strands, so there is a whole loop through each hole and through each slot.
@@FiberLoveDiary Thank you! You did say ends, not strands. I see - some high math there! :-). Now I get it! Still not clear why you double it it to be 2 strands, I'm guessing the towels are thicker & more absorbent. Your patterns are so creative and beautiful, your instructions so fun and clear - I'm jumping in and trying this!
When I weave towels, I weave them 27" under tension. I don't usually leave a space. If the weft color isn't changing for each towel, I just weave a pick of contrasting yarn so I can see where to cut really easily when it's time!
I use 8/2 Maysville cotton from Great Northern Weaving in Michigan. I have never found it anywhere else, and they are very nice. If you get some, tell them I said, "hi!"

I bought one of Trish's towels. Wow. I love it!!!
In love with those colors. Totally agree about the turquoise and coral. They are happy colors!!
Good because washing dishes isn't my happy place. Maybe the towels will help 😂💜
@@FiberLoveDiary not my happy place either. I always say I do them because I have to but that is kind of how I feel about cleaning in general. Lol
It's cool to watch you planning process. Thanks
Thanks! I figure the thought process can be helpful if someone doesn't know where to start.
Oh my gosh, I love those colors 😁
Thank you! I have to restrain myself from buying more colors all the time 😂
Fiber Love Diary I completely understand. I’ve had to put myself on restriction from buying yarn. I have a slight problem 😜
You have inspired me to fall down a new rabbit hole 😂 I think I need to pick up weaving.
Yes YOU DO NEED to pick up weaving!
Angela I have been weaving in a rigid heddle loom that I purchased shortly after this comment 😂
Fun project! Looking forward to this project!
It's coming along! Thank you 💜
She makes it look so easy!
I loved this set of videos, what size loom did you use please ?
I have an Ashford 32" loom. I'm glad you liked them!
Super cute! Looking forward to seeing the process.
💜
Looking forward to following your progress on the towels. Watching how pretty they will become. 🤩
💚
These will be amazing! Thanks for sharing your process. The graph paper really helped show it come together
I will be using it from now on. The graph helped me too. Hashmarks were a good starting point, but not as good as this
Your towels are beautiful !! Maybe someday...
Yes, yes! Someday soon 💜
These are going to be amazing!
Thank you! I am pretty geeked!
Thanks for sharing about the last ends being in holes on both sides. I have so much trouble with selvedges! So I’ll try that idea.

I wasn’t any help picking colors because I like all your choices. 🤗. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Yay! Thank you!
I cannot wait! I have been wanting to make dish towels
Not sure why I am so into making stuff for the kitchen when I don't want to be there, but oh well 😂

Looks beautiful! Can’t wait to see you start!
She's all warped and just needs tying on. You won't have to wait long!
