    Vulkan is faster than OpenGL because its new gen of graphics API which more low-level and have async command queues when OpenGL works only in single thread
    Additionally Vulkan uses much less CPU then OpenGL
    If Minecraft devs will add native Vulkan API support I think it will boost performance
    But now we have only one mod which written in Java and as a result we still have low performance because its mod
    Its not a native Vulkan API support

      yeah

    • @aetimes2
      @aetimes2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      What you said is partially true, but the reason it would be faster is not because it wouldn't be a mod, but because it would be better developed with the power of the full Mojang team. Both the mod and Minecraft are written in Java. This mod is literally replacing the Minecraft renderer. The only overhead from it being a mod is on startup

    Honestly, this is just incredible. Imagine if Mojang had changed their rendering engine. I'm afraid they would need to redo the whole game including the mod loaders changing their API. But so far, this is a giant leap for the modding community. My Ryzen 5 2600 can finally have a bit of rest while playing Minecraft and rather let my GTX 1650 struggle. Steam Deck can definitely take this huge advantage over Vulkan.

      Yeah. OptiFine is no longer your #1 option to optimize your game anymore. The Sodium became a new OptiFine. The only thing I don't like is that the OpenGL is being used as it's single-threaded and pretty outdated. Imagine if Vulkan's graphics API was baked into the game by Mojang. Of course, the compatibility would be an issue for some older systems, but the CPU would be less stressed out.

    I haven't read the code of vulkan mod but vulkan can only get you so far in terms of performance if you don't use it for performance. It is also easy to mess up (accidentally setting a buffer to host visible, for example) which can easily lead to performance losses. Sodium also optimises other parts of the game, not necessarily the graphics. The two mods have a somewhat different purpose and vulkan mod (assuming the use of vulkan is correct) would absolutely provide a far greater performance increase.

  • @drawerganizer785
    @drawerganizer785 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    The vulkan renderer has fewer glitches with transparent textures and renders the shading on dirt paths correctly. In my case (integrated amd graphics, linux/wayland) sodium still gets better performance (even though a lot of people report the vulkan renderer beats sodium in their case), but vulkan is still leaps and bounds better than vanilla. I use the Vulkan renderer because the performance is good enough and it doesn't have the glitches sodium does.

    I have a question, So I run my Minecraft on most of the default settings but configured it in a way where I get good FPS and still can maintain good settings (Running 16-20 chunks rendering and simulation distance, Fancy graphics and everything on like that but I have smooth lighting at the max, Which I usually have at minimum) I was wondering why You are getting that high FPS with Sodium, I have it too; I also compared all the mods just last week looking at how they preform and Your FPS for Sodium stood out for me because I get around 700 at the max and 350-600 looking anywhere else. I have an RTX 3070ti, 32GB of some Corsair or something like that ram and an I9 11 gen I think, I also have my ram allocated high like 8 GB allocated to Minecraft, I can change it but my FPS isn’t high like yours. If I run shaders I use most of the default settings for it but change the rendering to FXAA2 and use my shadow quality at 1.5, I also have another one changed but I don’t have my PC at the moment but I think it’s something with the sharpness of the blocks. I changed that because I tried using a few shaders and it was kind of Blurry when I was looking around and everything was a bit soft or fuzzy looking so I changed it. I run Bliss or Chocapic or some other ones like seus but I just want an FPS over 150 or 200 because I can play on Hypixel and be in a lobby with shaders and be sitting at a comfortable 120-150 fps, with 30-50 players and somehow my FPS is at 125 or less in single player. Do you know how to fix that or anything that can prevent or do anything about it? I can list my settings once I get back to my PC and check everything. I use Sodium most of the time because I like some options but I like Optifine too, More settings and a few cool features. Vulkan is nice because I tried running 32ish chunks or around there and most of my settings were maxed and still got about 90 fps on average, I noticed a few lag spikes though they were occurring a bit often.

    • @Aboody
      @Aboody  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think 700-300 is fine for 16-20 chunks. In the video, I was using the default, I think it was 12, so that could be it. Or maybe.... I guess you can try updating your graphics card drivers or allocating less RAM to Minecraft cuz In my test video, I gave Minecraft only 4GB. You could also try closing some background apps, but I don't think that's the problem because you said you have 32GB of RAM, so that's a maybe. Or you could check your CPU and GPU temperatures; maybe your CPU needs new paste, which could impact performance. Also, keep in mind that the FPS test in my video was done at 1080p resolution. If you're playing at a higher resolution, that could be impacting your FPS too. Hope this helps!

I use a couple different shaders like Bliss and Sildurs and a few others but I’m eating now, I set my render distance to 8-12 and got 1600 fps with no shaders but shaders just pulls my FPS down alot. I encountered the same issue when I first got my PC. The Task Manager was indicating that I only had 2 cores and only 6 threads, which worried me because I had saved up a lot of money for this PC. However, after installing the motherboard software, I discovered an option to enable all the cores and the threads.
      It might not be the same issue, but it's worth noting that the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is generally considered superior to the Ryzen 5 5500. I would recommend conducting thorough research on the internet to gather more information about their respective performances. In my personal experience, I was able to resolve my problem by seeking help from the PC Part Picker Discord community, which has a supportive and knowledgeable user base.

      I'm not quite sure where I can find this mod. I tried searching it up on Google, but it seems like I got results for something else instead☹️.

      @@Aboody it's a modpack, you can find it con curseforge as "Cubed Optimized FPS", I found it better than faboulously optimized
