So GM is back to an 8 speed again. Up to 2016 it was a 6 speed, some ‘17 Malibus had an Aisin 8 speed, then in ‘18 they released a 9 speed, then a CVT. The “heart of the vehicle” will suffer cardiac arrest well before 90k miles, and for John (who is notoriously kind) to say adequately comfortable, that means you will have a backache on long trips. well I have 3 relatives who own the equinox and all 3 have over 200k no problems
and they all poor
that new Equinox, is evolutionary. but i know people have been complaining about the 1.5 engine. but not a fan of those awful CVTs. that's why i will stick with AWD, with that 8 speed. but i hope to see the Equinox EV road test soon though.
The previous Equinox only had a 6-speed transmission. That was the issue. The GMC terrain had the same engine with a 9-speed. It was much better.
@@tedunguent156 that's what that video said, by the looks of it. i mean on the 6 speed part, well unfortunately, the Terrain is gonna get the same things as the Equinox.
There's no way that 1.5 is going to last 😂
Along with the CVT transmission.
It will for all the moms and grandmas that aren't lead footed that buy them. Equinoxes are literally everywhere, and I see all model years everyday. If you want power and like to race strangers to the next red light, then you don't buy these cars.
Not with YOU at the wheel. A man who knows what he's doing won't have any problem with it.
@@crazyone1067 That's the front wheel drive. The AWD has an 8 speed.
I see Equinox’s everywhere. It’s the best selling domestic vehicle not a pickup truck.
This thing is SLOW IN IRL , especially with 4 adults
It’s a nice looking suv but that engine would be a deal breaker for me. Go to Mazda and you will get a 2.5 4cyl that will be much more reliable in the future.
that 2.5 motor from mazda is a dog w o turbo test drove the mazda 6 and the cx50 both sucked and so underpowered went with jeep Cherokee v6 night and day of a drive
@@johnmiranda1341 2.5l is fine for a daily drive. Jeeps are overpriced junk.
I can get over 30 mpg with my 5.7L Challenger
Yeah, on the highway. Not overall. The Equinox AWD they drove AVERAGED almost 28 mpg.
It appears that GM borrowed some Camaro interior bits and tried to make it look more expensive than it is.
So, is that a bad thing? Or a good thing?
It’s NOT vastly different, there’s only so much you can do to a box on wheels.
How old is Mr. Davis?
102
@dforrest4503 102 you say, well alright.
@dforrest4503 😂 (76)
27 mpg.. how do small CUVs compare to cars. in fuel economy and handling again? But we have more room for crap , except that a station wagon would offer more. At least its nice looking. but that 1.5 probably needs a few more ponies to up the power to rate ratio.
John sounds tired/has a cold
I'll keep my mazda cx50
The Malibu engine with a bit more horsepower sounds pretty weak. Nice looking however
At least put the 2.0t in this as an option
Stop complaining. The 2.0 was offered originally but was discontinued because nobody bought it.
Will you pay an extra 3-5 thousand for it?
@ personally….yes I would. I like a vehicle that has a bit more power
@@allroadsawesome step up to something higher end then, like an envision.
20 years and you still have to push a button for AWD
A 1.5L (91 ci) engine and have to put up w only 26mpg and it probably doesn't even get that. NFW. Last week I think I had a hamburger that was bigger than 91ci. It is a nice looking vehicle but no way a 1.5L.
Typical GM, make it look good but make everything else shitty. Weak engine and powertrain per usual.
gm is for poor people
Plenty of power for us good car
Friend had 2022 Chevy HD truck Diesel. Spent most of the year at the dealer till he traded it. My dad always drove Chevys because they used to be reliable with V8 engines. Now by 100k miles they are junk.
Nothing to grab onto in the center when driving. Miss the shifter there. Won't be buying. + it needs the V6 option.
If you want the 2.0, buy a Buick Envision
The price of the 2025 Buick Envision starts at $37,895 and goes up to $47,595 depending on the trim and options.
4g equinox more modern than previous generations
Nice review.
Should have been a hybrid
Looks like a burban on 24s with those tiny brake rotors
So GM is back to an 8 speed again. Up to 2016 it was a 6 speed, some ‘17 Malibus had an Aisin 8 speed, then in ‘18 they released a 9 speed, then a CVT. The “heart of the vehicle” will suffer cardiac arrest well before 90k miles, and for John (who is notoriously kind) to say adequately comfortable, that means you will have a backache on long trips. Oh, and 29 MPG but can’t hit a mid 16 second 1/4 mile? The VW Tiguan AWD can hit 34 on the highway and runs high 15s.
With reports these things don't even last 60-100k miles, this one will NEVER make it and talk about HORRIBLE exceleration/performance.
Such an anemic SUV
GM has been making the best cars these days. Cars from Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac are all fantastic in terms of comfort, style and reliability.
Yeah, tell that to Pontiac and Oldsmobile.
@@cobracharmer6178 Pointless comment. Where do you people come from? LMAO
Did gm pay you for this comment? 😂
Who dropped you on your head?
@@zoidzoid87 I looked at EV Chevys and Cadillacs based on the Ultium platform and was impressed by them. Even the Honda Prologue, which is built by GM has been a sales success. Their latest ICE vehicles have had impressive reliability, good looks and well thought out interiors. This year, GM will make a profit on their EVs, placing them ahead of VW, Stellantis, Hyundai and the mighty Toyota in the EV segment.
This is a great car if you're really bad at making decisions
poor people do that that why they buy gm cars
GM lost my interest with the tiny engine.
chevy casually copy and pasting their lineup exterior designs
It's called brand identity, that every manufacturer does.
poor people buy gm
Yes the vehicle is a pos. 60,000 miles the engine blows up. Go ahead spend you money on polished shit.
cant tell poor people they swear gm the best car brand ever
This new great looking Equinox needs a 2.0L turbo engine and a strong hybrid version.
NOPE !!!
Such a nice SUV 🚙 but it’s slow, everything else in the class is faster than this by 2-4 seconds!
Wouldn’t but it for two reason. 1, that engine is a joke. 2, GM has the flimsiest interiors on the market that feel like they’re made out of milk jugs and bubble gum.
WHAT a joke GM!! First, get that 1.5L the hell out right now. This needs the 2.0 at a minimum. Secondly don't even consider the base FWD with a CVT. The AWD with the 8 speed is the only way to go. However, I would not even consider this over any CX-50, Tiguan, CRV etc. No contest
bloody CVT
People are very negative
Way underpowered small singer sewing machine engine working its ass off to give you mediocre gas milage for its class. Small turbo engines put way too much stress to produce the power they do usually resulting in cracked turbo housings or bearings that fail timing chain issues are a problem also.
Squeak-quinox with that 1.5L
snails...........
Chevy! What a joke! People spend hard earned money on a vehicle and all you give them is 175hp and crappy gas milage?
19s on an Equinox? Rather have 20s. And the V6.
poor people will buy this
Big beautiful SUV. A lot of cargo space but with only a 1.5 L. Engine with only 175 hp. 😢
These engines are such a joke for SUV’s with all the weight of the vehicle itself and add in passengers, pathetic.
Chevy designs are getting worse recently. The new equinox looking similar to the new mitsubishi outlander.
Who keeps telling GM these front ends look good? Ugly as sin. Junk drivetrain, junk appearance, junk build quality.
Like your mom
The koreans
poor people will buy them
