That's an awesome little AWD SUV that I think buyers are going to get their monies worth......GM is definitely on the right track with the style and capabilities.
Right out of the gate these new Equinoxes have 5 major flaws, especially if they think they are going after Toyota. First is the new lower mpg numbers on both FWD or AWD along with the reduction of rated torque on the former. Second is the lack of a hybrid or PHEV model. Third is the rear seat which neither reclines or moves back and forth as it did in the past on the 1st and 2nd generation models. The 4th issue is the lack of a performance engine option or diesel engine, two things the last generation offered from around 2018 to 2021! The last issue is the total lack of interior color choices on all the trim levels. The base LT with cloth only comes in black along with the RS. The Active only comes with the tan and black! All of this is a shame because there is a good vehicle with a well sorted chassis and some nice features for the money here. If GM could quit playing games forcing customers up to a Buick or larger more expensive Chevy or GMC just to get these features, a dirty trick that will ultimately keep this one from being a top seller!
@@blissfuljoy6049 My last one is 2018 GMC Canyon. Not buying any more GM junk until they stop cutting corners on build quality and improve dependability.

I guess it doesn't really matter for this class, but I don't get why GM is so stingy with the engine options. They killed the 2.0T in the Equinox and Terrain back before the plandemic, IIRC they were stating it was a supply issue....but all these years later and we're still stuck with that 1.5T, even while they have a different 2L engine available in every other FWD based application. What gives?
@@terrencejones9817 Yeah well part of that 10% take rate was the asinine way GM restricted access to it. If I recall correctly in the final years of its availability, on both the Equinox and the Malibu you could only get them by going for the absolute highest trim level.
Chinese parts made in Mexico, Chevy? No thanks. If they want to go after Toyota design them to be on the road with normal maintenance for 10 years. Although even Toyota is missing out on that now with their new Tundra and Tacoma.

@@sfoy623 Yeah, probably efficiency. One thing I like about AWD, though, is better handling in spirited driving.
Good looker but that weak engine is a no buy for me give it a engine and you would have a true competitor instead of a 'good' seller. People on the average may not know hp and other numbers but they do test drive so the driving experience between this and the Toyotas and others is no comparison
That's an awesome little AWD SUV that I think buyers are going to get their monies worth......GM is definitely on the right track with the style and capabilities.
Now the only thing it needs is quality, hybrid, reliability and resale value😂😂
I like the looks and interior, but don’t see why I’d take this over something like a Subaru Forester
When do you actually get to use all that horsepower that all the other cars have…. Hardly ever. So the horsepower is a non factor
Sounds like the enigne is about to pop. Lol 😅😂
Slayer !
Looks like GM is getting it. However the jury is out about the quality and the long term reliability.
Give it the LSY engine!
The RAV4 can tow up to 3500 lbs. 1500 lbs is a bit lacking for a midsize SUV.
I don’t think Toyota has much to worry about!
Adjectives OTHER THAN “Beefy”…go!
I worry about GM quality, reliability. Don't trust them. Been burnt to many times!
Agreed 👍
What did you have?
@@blissfuljoy6049 My last one is 2018 GMC Canyon. Not buying any more GM junk until they stop cutting corners on build quality and improve dependability.
Most people are fine with the options. 175hp is more than enough for most people
The fact that in 2024 a 175 plus horsepower is pathetic and only getting 27 or 28 max combined shows how much GM is doing to lose against its competition
Who even cares about torque
I guess it doesn't really matter for this class, but I don't get why GM is so stingy with the engine options. They killed the 2.0T in the Equinox and Terrain back before the plandemic, IIRC they were stating it was a supply issue....but all these years later and we're still stuck with that 1.5T, even while they have a different 2L engine available in every other FWD based application. What gives?
It was the 10% take rate of the 2.0L turbo that killed it.
@@terrencejones9817 Yeah well part of that 10% take rate was the asinine way GM restricted access to it. If I recall correctly in the final years of its availability, on both the Equinox and the Malibu you could only get them by going for the absolute highest trim level.
33K to avoid the CVT.
Is GM going for reliability over performance? the exact opposite of what Toyota seems to be doing lately ?

My only knock is somehow competitors get more HP with similar or better mpg. But the new look is a huge improvement, inside and out.
Chinese parts made in Mexico, Chevy? No thanks. If they want to go after Toyota design them to be on the road with normal maintenance for 10 years. Although even Toyota is missing out on that now with their new Tundra and Tacoma.
So, you don't think there are Chinese parts in all vehicles? The Tacoma is made in Mexico now and likely has Chinese parts in it.
All your clothes are made in China and your wife's...are they going to walk naked?
Coming soon to a rental agency near you!
The problem with American cars is that the design of lights and LEDs are very ugly and unbalanced, and the design of the dashboard and the curved screen are awful. From pickups to four-door sedans to SUVs and crossovers, today's Chinese cars have a much better design. You should always have a car. Be simple and up-to-date😢
"And, yeah"
Is the 1.5 liter a 3 cylinder?

Fire the camera guy
Man when all these electronics start failing 🤑🤑
1:05 Also Toyota has a reputation buddy.
Average mpg for ALL vehicles is 28 mpg. This thing, 26 mpg. Chevy is going backwards.
The less you understand about automobiles, the more likely you are to buy this thing.
Damn 😢
Where isthe 2 l turbo engine
If Chinese made quality is your thing you found your vehicle.
The Chinese have actually improved the build quality of their cars significantly. Just do a research on GAC and Geely as a case study.
They are made in Mexico, not China. I think the only GM vehicles built in China are some of the Buicks
@@blang38Only the Envision is made in China and exported to the U.S.
Equinox quality is now on par with the rest of the market.
Everything in your house was made in China, the materials of your house too, your clothes... everything... what do you plan to do?
Let's see if you read this would you buy a new Nissan Rogue or this Chevrolet or the GMC??????😅😊
ill stick with my jeep mp
Its a heavy refresh off the same unibody. Nope.
The camera work on this video leaves a lot to be desired.
looks like a hyundai
Quit touching the car!
Leave it to GM to make a good platform with a shit engine and trans. Had a 2019 redline awd equinox and it was awesome. 2.0 turbo good towing rating good all rounder, then there’s this turd. Go buy a Buick version where they still have the 2.0 liter.
With that engine? Nope. 😂
