I completely agree, I called my old man the other night and said I remember all the songs from when he used to play them in the car, but I didnt realise just how good he was until I saw this singer do a great reaction to Help. I also didnt realise I would like a reaction video haha.
I hope one day John Farnham can see your reactions to his voice, so pure. We’ve loved him for decades. It’s nice to see a new audience discovering him.
I would say he has by now - two nights ago on the Channel 7 news in Brisbane they had a segment on how overseas reaction TH-camrs have caught on to John's music, and they showed 'That Singer Reactions' footage and a clip of this TH-camr discussing John's style.
I'm an Australian and I grew up listening to John Farnham, so I love him for his voice, charisma and the nostalgia, I guess, but until I started watching you reactions recently, I had no idea he also has a talent for writing and/or co-writing his own music. This song always got to me, because it's a beautiful ballad, and he infuses it with just enough grit to make it heartbreaking.

That's why we call him "the Voice" here in Oz. He can sing any genre! He is a great guy and his concerts are phenomenal. He likes to have fun with his audience..
You are so right about singers who over sing the song to showcase how high, powerful or low they can go, instead of just singing it with the appropriate tone and emotion. All the extra twiddle-dee-dee stuff often causes the message of the song to be lost. John Farnham knows when to pull out all the stops vocally, and when to pour on the emotion so it hits the listener in the feels. That is why he is so good!
I feel so lucky to have grown up with John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes as the soundtrack to my life and many other Aussies would feel the same way. They are both so unique and special and giants of the Oz music scene.
'He can take you there' - that's about the best description of what Farnsey does I've heard yet. And you're absolutely right - he can belt it out with his ridiculous range enough to blast you into the stratosphere one minute, and sing so gently it's enough to bring you to tears the next. THAT'S talent. And, in his 70s now, he can STILL do it. Amazing performer.
Shows like American Idol have taught a generation of young singers that belting and decibels are what make you a good singer. John Farnham is an absolute master of his craft, and his vocal dynamics are second to none.
