- There were a lot of rock n roll pioneers....Little Richard, Jerry Lee, Elvis, Bill Haley. But there was something different when you listened to a Chuck Berry tune. As he sang the lines of whatever masterpiece he had come up with, you got a incredibly clear mental image that went along with the lyrics. You SAW the story he was singing. That's rare, man. Chuck has a gift and fortunately, he was able to share it with the world. Thanks Chuck for helping start rock and roll. You lit the fuse on this rocket, baby.

I broke up the verses differently than Chuck and any of the covers I've heard artists do. It just seemed to make the most sense to me to break them up this way. This was my first attempt at using chromakey in a video so it's a little wiggy but close enough for rock and roll. All guitar tracks were recorded on the 1959 Les Paul Junior in the video. Amps used were a 68 Fender Vibrochamp and a POD for the leads. Bass was a Vox Phantom IV copy with a Fender Precision neck.

Very nice to come across your video. Rare to find someone who has an appreciation for Chuck Berry's amazing prowess with lyrics. Love your arrangement and equally tasty finger work. I've played guitar a long time and a few years ago set myself a mission to learn the original recorded version of Johnny B. Goode, which almost nobody plays correctly. I'm getting close!

It is virtually impossible to make Chuck Berrys' music sound bad. Very good version, real toe tapper.

It’s “Rock Hill”…not “ Rockville.” Rock Hill is a town in SC not far from Charlotte, NC.
I’ve been waiting years for someone to point that out! I knew I messed it up after I recorded it but didn’t feel like going back to redo it.

I was wondering who the musicians were but it seems one man (jazzbo89?) played all the guitars. That is fantastic in itself but more importantly this is a tremendous version with these incredible solos. Even better than Chuck's own. And boy the footage of the duck walks - the very very best from 2:57 onwards in black and white. What a superb tribute to Chuck's song and rock and roll. Straight to favourites to listen to again and again.

Great version and the video cuts were perfect...my band does Promised Land In Vietnam, but more people into Beatles and rocky, romantic music than Chuck Berry in the main. The segue at the finish was a great idea too.
