I heard somebody argue recently that this movie didn't deserve Best Picture when it came out, without offering up an alternative, and I was highly offended. This movie kicks ass.
It's a great movie, but because Gladiator 2 is coming out, Gladiator has flooded the reaction channels and I'm sick of it! Plus there's no way I'll be watching Gladiator 2
@scottdarden3091 oh nooo :( sorry we have joined the flood! I hope you were still able to enjoy our video a little bit. Thank you very much for being here even if it was a bit overkill with the other vids!
"What would Maximus do?" That is an awesome comment. I was 15 when this movie came out and I think within a couple years I had seen it half a dozen times and it became my favorite movie while a lot of the girls and family in my life were gushing over Titanic or some other film. People that hadn't seen gladiator thought we liked it for the gratuitous violence and blood. But boys and men love this movie because it shows what a REAL hero might be like and what WE can be like. Incredible film. Made an archetype of hero for all to follow. One of the best ever depicted if not THE best.
100%, always felt he was a great role model. Showing love and gentleness whenever possible and then when needed doing what must be done. I agree, these 'boy' films are about so much more than sword fighting. Its aspirational! Thanks so much for being here and commenting, its really helping the channel.

My wife and I had a debate about men and women understanding each other, I told her that men were easy to understand, she ask me how, I made her sit on the sofa, some snacks and put on my favorite movie... At the end she told me "I understand now what men are all about". Women, if you ever want to understand 90 percent of men, watch that movie.

32:44 "They love each other." Thank you, thank you. Is it safe to assume you knew they were lovers long ago, before they met their spouses? It was clear in all the dialogue. Do you know there are Reactors on YTube who totally lose their minds here, ...And judge them both. I stop the video then. Two people who were lovers long ago, now trapped in a desperate situation, not knowing if they'll ever see one another again...Taking a moment in a prison cell, to remember their love. With all the butchery and evil in this film, 'The Kiss' is the scene some Reactors object to.......For me it's the most beautiful moment in the whole film. I love this movie, saw it in the theater. When it was over, my girlfriend cried all the way back to the car. Lots of women were crying
Yes, thank you!! I thought I was the only one who got upset and stopped watching a reaction if the reactors hated on Lucilla or “the kiss” scene, lol. For goodness sake, after all these two have been through, we can’t let them have that moment of comfort and affection? I know I’m supposed to be invested in Maximus’ love for his family and his desire to come home to his wife, and believe me I am. That’s so beautiful! But for me, Max and Lucilla’s story was so compelling, and the chemistry was obvious. I just wanted to know the full history of these star-crossed lovers, and it was so bittersweet that they were separated again. 💔
Yes definitely keen for this one, it's considered one of the all time classics right? We will add it to the list, we are getting so many great suggestions from everyone. Gladiator fights were overseen by referees, and battles typically ended with first blood or surrender. Showing mercy to an opponent was considered noble, and those who did not show mercy were often shown none in return. Popular fighters could earn a rudis, a wooden sword symbolizing their freedom. This honour could be granted multiple times, though it was sometimes declined, Flamma for example, turned it down 4 times. Most gladiators fought only once or twice a year, similar to professional fighters today. For many, becoming a gladiator was seen as a potential escape from poverty or a way for commoners to make a name for themselves.

The Romans usually faced a much larger force when fighting so-called barbarians. In Watling Street in 67 AD in England a Roman force of about 10 000 Romans faced Boudica's very large tribal alliance, perhaps as many as 100 000 warriors. The Romans won a decisive battle and quashed rebellion in Britain after that.
They were an incredible war machine right?! I love hearing about the historical battles and figures, would Boudica and these battles be your favourite or you have other ones? Thank you for being here too!
I'm showing my girlfriend this movie, this movie is about the sacrifice of men who care about their families and live with honor and integrity to the end of their lives. I like the characters Maximus, Juba, Lucilla, Hagen, Proximo and the emperor. Special props to Joaquin he made me hate his character so much. And the real life Marcus Aurelius had a beard and that bust was his modeled on the original one, they showed that bust in the movie. Maximus is also based on a historical commander in Germania. This movie may not be too historically correct, but who cares. Even I'm a history graduate but I dont care, because a movie cannot be hundred percent historically accurate. BTW, amazing reaction from both of you, thank you for appreciating the life of men and this movie shows true masculinity which is based on virtues and sacrifice.

Yes! we feel terrible we didn't realise! We thought he was an Aussie during the film! Very cool! One of the things we love about this channel is learning bits n pieces! Thanks so much! And thank you for being here!
First time watching this channel. My suggestions based on watching many other reaction channels - scene screen too small (hard to see on smaller screens), WAY too many key scenes left out (bad editing), she talks too much missing some of the key dialog ('reaction' is a fine line between too much talking and too little), overall too short for a long, complex movie like this. Hopefully improvement will be coming.
Thanks for the feedback. Will look to try and find the sweet spot as we develop. Neither of us have ever edited or done this stuff before so learning on the job and trying to pick it up as quick as we go. Good point about the smaller screens, may look to trial some other views so the movie is easier to see. Thanks for being here even though it isn't quite to your preference.
if you are watching a movie one of you have not seen but the other has STOP revealing everything every time you get asked a question, let them watch the movie and let tings be revealed as the movie goes on
I will never understand why some people talk all the way through a movie, especially a movie like this. I couldn't watch a movie with either of you; I'd be foaming at the mouth by the end credits.
Thank you for the feedback! We trying to find the right balance so all input is welcomed, we hope you managed to enjoy it still even if you felt we talked too much. We appreciate you being here!

@benjaminroe311ify thanks so much! It's quite difficult trimming it down, im sure we will get better as we progress but im thrilled you enjoyed it! We hope you will return!
Your wife is a kiwi ay?
I sure am! ~L
@@Flix-n-Feels Auckland, Christchurch?
Originally from Christchurch but don't live there anymore
@@Flix-n-Feels I think Russel Crowe was born in NZ also. The lead man of Gladiator is a kiwi XD
Yes! we feel terrible we didn't realise!
Gladiator 2=🤢 💰 🫳
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?
We both most certainly were 😂 Epic line from an epic film! ~L
if you are watching a movie one of you have not seen but the other has STOP revealing everything every time you get asked a question, let them watch the movie and let tings be revealed as the movie goes on
will do our best! Appreciate you being here.
I will never understand why some people talk all the way through a movie, especially a movie like this. I couldn't watch a movie with either of you; I'd be foaming at the mouth by the end credits.
Appreciate you being here nonetheless
You'll find out why your boyfriend is
appreciate you being here
A little less talking, while viewing the legendary movie!!
Thank you for the feedback! We trying to find the right balance so all input is welcomed, we hope you managed to enjoy it still even if you felt we talked too much. We appreciate you being here!
What we do know is
Nobody sticks around
appreciate you being here
LEFT AS YOU BOTH TALK TOO MUCH.
Appreciate you being here before ya left 👍
If you chat while the movie is playing, you miss some significant sentences and completely lose the sense of the movie.
appreciate you being here
I was not entertained. She talked entirely way too much.
we appreciate the engagement 👍
