Good for the male reactor here for resisting temptation and letting her experience the movie for herself. It often doesn't happen this way.

Thank you! It's an interesting learning experience! but like you say I'm focussing on making sure I don't subtly spoil anything and instead try to communicate with you viewers with little looks and stuff for when exciting bits are happening. And letting Lauren fully experience it with fresh eyes.
Thanks so much for being here! ~H

Michael Clark Duncan was 6' 5" and the camera angles made him look even taller. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 54. Back in that era, the man was head of the household. Doctors would give them the diagnosis and they would pass it along to whatever family member was ill.

I read the book after watching this it gives you more insight into what each inmate did ... The dude who played Percy is a real piece of work in real life too so his character of a jerk isn't far off... bitterbuck (the native American man) was in a bar fight where someone lost their life, deliquesce(the man with the mouse) is a serial killer, John was presumably guilty for murder, and billy the kid (last inmate brought in) is an all in all bad guy! Great reaction, you guys

Both are: Masterpiece Prisoner movies / Directed by Frank Darabont / Screenwrite adaption by Frank Darabont / Source story by Stephan King.
Completely unrelated but often mentioned is another masterpiece called "Forrest Gump" starring Tom Hanks.

@Flix-n-Feels a literal ride or die friend, and the biggest heart. John Kofee and Tom Hanks characters had kind hearts, but we knew that right away. Just a few of my favorite quotes from Brutal:
"He's paid what he owed. He's square with the house again. So keep your goddamn hands off of him"
*When talking about helping the wardens wife* without even questioning it "so tell us what you had in mind"
"Well feel how we feel then. We don't hate you. Can you feel that"?
Those three quotes said so much about him and his character. Imo, more so than any dialogue from Paul or John Kofee

    Great reaction guys!
To make you feel better about John's death, you need to look at the snapshot of what he was doing before going to the chair.
Firstly, he has scars all over his back that are very old and stretched, as if he was beaten with a whip when he was a child. Bit when was he a child?
Second, John is always obeyed. In word or actions, once he makes up his mind what needs to happen it will. The behavior of everyone around John is strange, and is at odds with what they may be saying, or normal behavior in the same circumstances. John is just so soft spoken that nobody catches the truth. John gives them orders, or may just hold them where they are. When John put The Dark into Percy, the other guards started to intervene but hang back. Then, in spite of Percy's obvious distress, they let him walk away until after he shoots Wild Bill.
With just these abilities, if John had wished for a different outcome to the entire matter he could have made it happen. And I think he could've made everyone involved forget he was ever even there. As has happened before. His lawyer said it was like he fell out of the sky. I think it was more like he fell out of minds.

Great film. Superb acting by a absolutely stellar cast. Liking your wicked cool accents, and phrasing...."hey". Big shoutout from across the pond at Gatlinburg. That's in East Tennessee. U.S.A. You guys should really check out "The Shawshank Redemption", with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. "A River Runs Through It", with Brad Pitt and Sir Anthony Hopkins, And of course another Tom Hanks film this time co-starring Gary Sinise, "Forrest Gump". Good luck with your channel. The Stephen King book gives a backstory of the guards and inmates. It also reveals the mode of death of each character.
The film takes place during the Great Depression of the 1930's. "Breadlines" were a way for the unemployed (generally men) were able to eat.
The setting for this story is rural Louisiana.
Stephen King purposely wrote religious symbolism throughout the story.

How about staying with the Tom Hanks movies and watching saving Private Ryan next?

Hey John! You definitely got a good amount of tears out of Lauren for this one! That's definitely the most i've seen her cry watching something so it's gotta be right up there. She hasnt seen hardly anything so there could be some really good ones to come. Need to give her a little bit to recover haha but Saving Private Ryan will definitely be one of our sooner reactions, Lauren hasn't seen it and hopefully it would be good for the channel.
And yes a scale would be a good idea, we are looking to set up a general ranking system to display for everything we do (just need to sort the logistics) but an additional 'kleenex' ranking for the most emotional could be a great idea too.

John Cofey equates to Jesus christ. He calls God the father, at the movie the light is like a halo.

Thank you for the feedback, I kept trying to increase the volume but the copyright bot wasn't happy. I got it louder for the later John Coffey scenes but I will try to make sure future uploads are optimised better. Really appreciate the feedback!

    1. YOU WILL CRY😭😭
    2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production, so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie".
    3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935 South.)
    4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
    5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor (MCD) and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.😭😭
    6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse: The Langoliers. Patricia Clarkson played Margarat White in King's remake of Carrie". Needless to say, it was a much different part.
    7. Movie magic Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream. I know it' just for the movie because of the length of the execution scene.
    8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
    9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of playing Percy. EVERYONE hates him.🤬🤬
    10. John also rescues the other patients at Briar Ridge.
    11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan. They used planks, a small bed and smaller chair along with trick photography/angles to make John look taller.
12 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution, they used a real mouse, and it pooped on Paul's shoulder, and he brushed it off.
    13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced.
    the GREATEST MOVIE EVER. (GOAT)🤩
    15. Four words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!

Oh my gosh thank you for all that info! Definitely one of our favourite aspects of this channel is learning all these bits after a reaction! Thanks for taking the time to tell us all of this. Really appreciate you being here and hopefully will get to see you on our future reactions too!

The lawyer had virtually NOTHING to work with.. no witnesses, no evidence, no confession from another party. John could have easily been lynched or shot on the spot.I don't blame John's conviction on his lawyer.
