Underrated? Scientifically and logically implausible and of course bland and underwhelming performances from two of some of the blandest and most underwhelming actors Hollywood has ever known.

This is like the most underrated movie ever. So many people I talk to have never heard of this movie, and it's unfortunate. Such an amazing movie. I remember showing this movie to one of my friends and when the ending happened and the father showed up he LITERALLY fell out of his chair. I am not misusing the word literally, like he seriously freaked out so much he fell out of his chair onto the floor, lol. It was such a great reaction, it was obvious he loved that ending.

In Nov/Dec 2000, I watched the trailers for this movie, and I really wanted to see it when it came out in the theater. I was a big fan of Dennis Quad (especially "inner Space", a comedy you should really see), and a big fan of Jim Caveziel ("The Count of Monte Cristo" (2002), which I have on my frequently watch list).
December 11, 2000, my father died of colon cancer.
It was a year later I saw this movie, I believe, on television.
I have watched it twice, maybe three times since. It utterly wrecked me every time. And I definitely can't listen to the theme song, even though I carry it on my phone.
But I want to see your reaction, partly because I think the two of you are delightful, and partly because I know watching Ellie's changing expressions will lift my spirits as much as the movie smashes them down.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Something that helps me get through the pain of missing my loved ones is the knowledge that none of us are really here very long… as in, we don’t have long to wait before seeing them again. We only have to wait until we’re 80 or so, and that’s a blink of the eye. A bit morbid, but the perspective helps me and I hope it helps you.

38:41 This is the best move he could’ve made. It’s the exact right place to fight (underwater) when your opponent has a gun (useless underwater) and you don’t. Underwater punches may not be effective enough, but at least you’re both now in an even fight, with crappy underwater punches alone. Whoever can surface first and land some real blows from above will likely win, if they both know what they’re doing in a fight.

Radio technology is weird and fascinating. My buddy bought a police/ emergency weather scanner and keeps getting weather reports with a date from the early 70's. We're on the New Jersey coast and thought it was an old NOAA buoy. The other day, I found a website that lists frequencies for the International Space Station. I punched them in and picked up a transmission. Mind you , I have a 15 year old Radio Shack hand held receiver. I'm wondering if what he's hearing is an old weather satellite

React to classic "American Psycho" with Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe and Jared Leto. It’s based on a novel and very well adapted. An absolute misunderstood masterpiece and Bale’s performance is amazing, one of the best of his career. In fact, it was the movie that made him become famous. The finale will blow up your mind.
(One very important detail for you to take into account before watching it, especially in this times: it was directed by a WOMAN)

Early in the movie when Mary Finelli's body is discovered, John goes to visit the neighbours to see if they know anything, the husband and wife talk about how she was a nice girl or something, later on John returns because the husband is Nightingale's father but the wife is no longer there and John realises he murdered his own mother. Pretty dark but an interesting detail I noticed on a second viewing, love this movie.

Crazy thing. I'm a writer and when I was about eighteen or nineteen, I came up with an idea for a story about two relatives in the New York area who were able to transmit and receive radio waves through time on a HAM radio system because of an atmospheric accident. Then, seven years later, Frequency came out, lol. I'm not upset by it at all - it's one of my favorite movies. I think they did a great job, and I have other projects I'm working on anyway.
