Honestly, it is kind of terminator 2ish with the car chases in the Los Angeles river and the kid. Looking forward to the non members upload of terminator 2.
And she didn't notice that when the kid takes Arnold into the video store, the literally looked at a Terminator 2 standing display (albeit with Sylvester Stallone).
Also, Robert Patrick's cameo.

The Mozart joke was a reference to that bad guy being the actor whoe played the "villain" in "Amadeus", a Mozart biopic.
One of the best musical scores i've ever heard in a movie. RIP MICHAEL KAMEN. I love this movie so much i tear up to its near perfect execution combined with the beautiful score/ awesome rock section of the score. Omg i really... really cant say enough positive comments about this hysterical, action packed, dramatic, and visually amazing, plus extraordinary camera work, arnold movie. This reaction came out of nowhere. I remember this flick from when I was a kid. Watched it in the theaters.
So did I. I don't think that she got all the gags, (like the reference to Danny Glover in "Lethal Weapon") but she gets the like for her reaction to the aftermath of Slater's house being blown up. Identical to mine, in the theater, all those years ago.
Next year, this film turns THIRTY YEARS OLD and remains one of my favorite edited and cast films.
This film was released on June 11, 1993. The SAME day Jurassic Park was released. So that had a lot to do with it underperforming at the box office.
Yes that and also nobody at the time understood that it was a satire of action movies and wasn't meant to be taken too seriously.

I saw this in the theater and fell in love. I think this is every person's dream in some way. Slip away into a book. Slip away into a movie. Slip away into a game. This has been a favorite of mine and it never gets old. 😎🐾
I always found it hilarious how the cartoon cat would be walking around the police station and it was just normal for everyone. And the video store scene is the best, hands down. 😂😂😂

As a 31 year old Arnie fan, I think it’s bc Arnold was “the” big deal action star who had enough acting chops to pull off slightly more serious roles. And he was the last action star to come around pre-cgi remake reboot sequel era of the post 2000s… movies had more grit, realism due to technology, and shall I dare say, magic…
Last Action Hero is such a classic. Even though its not Arnold's best movie, it's still a brilliant concept, and who the hell else could've played it so well, and DESERVED the role of the hero who always wins? Arnold was such a good sport to make this movie
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was a kid. Glad you watched it. I recommend more Arnold Schwarzenegger movies - True Lies is a particularly good one.

A very underrated movie. A lot of work went into the planning, script, visuals, etc., it's a pity it has to compete with Jurassic Park at the box office. I really like it, it's quirky, unexpected and loaded with Dad Jokes.
I adore this movie. Always brings a joyful tear to my eye and a big grin to my lips. They don't make movies like these anymore and it is such a shame. I am SO tired of washed up remakes, and super-hero movies, and super-hero movie remakes, and superficial jumpscare "horror" movies.
Also it is so awesome that Arnold plays himself as a stuck-up actor hahaha!

This movie was written by Zak Penn and Shane Black - Shane also wrote Lethal Weapon, Last Boyscout, Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3. This film is an ironic commentary on those types of actions films.

Nowadays, you can definitely drop an F-Bomb in a PG-13 movie.
You get one. Lin-Manuel Miranda jokingly tweeted last June that he gave "two (Fs) [out of three] so the kids could see" Hamilton on Disney +. He gave up the one in the Yorktown scene and the second in one of the cabinet battles. I think he kept the one Hamilton's wife utters.
If Death himself tells you you die a grandfather (or grandmother) would you ever have children? At least before you were 40.
When this movie came out it had like 7.5 rating. Now it's down to a 5.3 rating. I think younger people today who see it don't get what it makes it so great. It's meant to be corny and parody action movies.

I don't care what hate I get I believe this movie is Arnold's best. Hands down. It is everything he is, breaks the 4th wall . . . . and the movie is founded on like 6 walls Lol! He gets to mock himself and the whole genre with a great morality tale to-boot. And for a parody it has some crazy badass action scenes , as a Schwarzenegger flik should!

Kind of a shame about this movie. It came out the same year and maybe month as another little known movie called Jurassic Park. It didn't make a fortune but word of mouth and how funny it was as a satire/ parody of Hollywood in a lot of ways got it its notoriety, and its still a fun film!

Yeah, Jurassic Park steamrolled over it. “Last Action Hero” opened on June 11th, 1993 and “Jurassic Park” opened on June 18th. I like the Arnold film and appreciate it more today than when it opened. It is a fun film. 👍
