I use Firefox as my go to back up for Chrome. I use chrome for emails and TH-cam but Firefox for gaming, looking up stuff, etc
Me since ubuntu 8.04, and have never really found a reason to switch. In my head they are a more ethical and open source company than most other ones that have a browser, but that could also all just be in my head as I haven't looked into it for about 15 years

The ioniq5 N is for enthusiasts that currently drive the other N’s, R’s, etc that want to switch to electric but want to keep that nostalgia alive. Also, the VW group is like the Nestle of the automobile industry.

@@emilesolberg-johansen 100%. Why have overlapping segments. At this point, we've been video streaming for more than a couple of decades and streaming content where the segments do not overlap has never caused an issue.
They really jumped over the biggest aspects of the Pixel event... It's two months earlier than usual & it's an in-person event at Google HQ for the first time for a Pixel device.
Several months after Google brought the Android, Chrome & Hardware teams all together.
This event really feels like Google is going all out.

The Ioniq 5N is plain and simple for fun. 0-60 in 3 seconds flat (this is in tests, which is faster than advertised), and 123 MPH 1/4 mile at 11.1 seconds. It also handles amazingly well. The range is 221 miles, which is the biggest drawback imho.
I’ve been a mechanic for 26 years and a machinist at Snap-on Power Tools for just over 20 years. There’s nothing that can happen to my gas burning car that I can’t fix myself. That’s really what keeps me from jumping on the EV bandwagon. That said, I do think the EV tech is cool

The thing about Firefox is 100% of the user base is using the application intentionally whereas a majority of Edge users are using the app based on convivence of it being default on Windows devices.
On Linux distros it's usually the default browser. But I think that also counts
I use edge & Firefox intentionally they both are great browsers with different strengths. Like when I use Linux I always to make sure I also have edge installed.

YESSS. I have too many emails and different logins when I’m working in different projects and this lets me stay signed into multiple accounts without having to logout each time
I’m visually impaired and Firefox is the first browser that would remember your text and zoom numbers for each website! Which last I checked safari still doesn’t do.
@@ColoringKaria Firefox is also the only one that allows you to zoom the text only, without changing the layout. Sadly, this one is a global switch, because some websites work better with text scaling and some work better with full zoom, depending on how the styles were written.

@@cmmartti I know it’s a pain that’s it’s a global change so what I like to do is increase the txt as little as possible for the global change and then go to individual website and play around with the zooming. In recent years web developers seem to have more a sense on how their zooming will work so text heavy website images don’t seem to zoom as much as they once did which is great for maintaining an appealing layout and so on.
Ioniq 5 N is for a car enthusiast with a 30-50 mile commute that has the disposable income for a “silly” electric car. They have a project car or two and maybe a truck. But they want something fun and easy to driver around town. That heavy shifting sound in the first mode is a simulated sequential dog box. Look it up. They’re cool as hell and sound insane.
If we could import engine sounds, I'd upload the sound of a Boeing 757 from Flight Simulator so that every time I floor it my car sounds like an airplane taking off

I dont care who says what, Ellis on Knobs is absolutely right. It's so frustrating when I can keep scrolling it and nothing happens.
I think it's clear that the IONIQ 5 N is just a replacement for the Veloster N (given that the fake exhaust sounds just like the same turbo 4cyl). They wanted to create a new hatchback, make it electric which is what the IONIQ 5 was, but then fill the void they left in the hot hatch market when they quit making the Veloster. So this is just the baby of those two ideas. It's going to interest people like myself who love hot hatches but maybe aren't fully into the idea of a silent electric future (hence adding the sounds and feeling of gears), while still being appealing to those already invested in an electric future that just want a fun car and have money to throw around.
I wouldn’t exactly compare the IONIQ 5 and the Veloster. It’s definitely not the “replacement” Veloster. They’re in completely separate classes of vehicles and price.
I mean, the IONIQ 5 is more than double the price of what the Veloster cost. People that would’ve been shopping for a Veloster aren’t buying an IONIQ 5. Plus, the IONIQ is WAY bigger than a Veloster. It’s longer, wider, taller, and has a longer wheel base.
The Kona N was a great replacement for the Veloster and much more comparable.
David’s not there = podcast looses all structure.

The Hyundai Ioniq5N is made for the small demographic of gear head enthusiast who have not quite made a transition to EV, but is contemplating a new daily driver for short commutes with an occasional track day thrown in.
If you grew up driving a manual transmission sports car and have spent considerable time on a race track, you have been trained to use all your senses to hit braking zones, make shift points and corner turn ins to hit the apex. It becomes a rhythm and timing to get it just right.
This car is made for people like myself.
Imagine if the Knob in CMF Phone 1 turns out to be an alternator which can charge your phone. 🤣🤣

Honestly, I think we should have more of the team participating in the podcast when they can! Ellis’ rant was definitely the highlight of this episode.
The Ioniq 5n might be the car that makes the switch from gas to electric more digestible for some people. It's no secret some people have trouble with the quietness, difference with acceleration, and breaking. This could be the weird bridge that elevates the transition for the people conditioned to a gas engines.
Missed opportunity for “Surface Uno”.

The frustating part about Apple is that they could EASILY have a standard/pro mode for the customization.
Standard: what they currently are giving.
Pro: do all the customization as you want.
And make it a toggle that can let you revert back to whatever you want. Its not by force to customize, but the option is what people want.
We talk about the walled garden a lot but the new iPad pencil update is also somewhat of a wall to those in the garden. To upgrade to the new iPad Air I’d have to both seek my iPad Air 4 and 2nd gen pencil to get the new iPad Air and Pencil Pro. Quite a weird wall to place yet I still want to get over it despite the iPad not being the most useful thing

Firefox being open source and great on Linux is why I use it.
On Mac, I like arc. Windows, I use edge. Linux is Firefox. They just feel right for the OS.
If arc worked on Linux I'd never look back
The Ionic 5 N is the modern day Chevrolet Cobalt SS with "stage 3 supercharger".
I use Firefox for network appliance logins, Chrome for general browsing and TH-cam, Edge for specific tools, and random testing with Opera. In theory i am moving to Arc to replace Chrome but i just haven't made the jump yet.

The discussions about the iOS icon tint is ignoring a very important demographic: teenagers. They just want their blue/green/red/pink icons to be the colour they want and they think it looks awesome. This feature isn’t for adults.

The Ioniq 5 N is for people who put playing cards in their bike wheels as kids to emulate the sound of an engine.
It may be so, can't deny that made it more fun. If everything is souless EVs you need to differentiate your product somehow. This car has a lot of people excited because it shows driving can be more than 0-100 times even with EVs.

Woo it's Friday! Such a good start to a Canadian long weekend
I not only change my Wallpaper on my Android daily with different accent colors but also I take time to pick some matching images from Unsplash once in a couple of days. I don't think I will last a week in iOS as how boring it would be for me... Honestly Android 12's Material you implementation is underrated! yes, I am using mods to force themed icons since not all the apps support that feature which is annoying. Also on Android 14, i change my clock style once a couple of days too.
As a web developer, I have all 4 major browsers. Safari (Dev on Mac), Chrome, Firefox, Edge. Daily driver is Edge. But Firefox has some of the best web dev tools (and I know many other developers say similar things)

What I hate is if there is a directional logo on an infinite spinnable knob, like the volume knob on the VW Radio.
Not sure if it was just the recording on TH-cam but those Ioniq sounds reminded me of the organ music you hear when something surprising happens in a movie. Like, I keep expecting James Brown to pop out.
Ellis, Volume knobs on keyboards have to be infinite, otherwise your volume would have to be hard locked to your keyboard. Otherwise what would changing the volume in software would take the keyboard volume knob out of sync. You cant have a fixed knob connected to anything that can then be changed with other software or hardware. Yes? Love your passion about this btw!

The Surface Duo 2 was severely underrated. If it came out in the condition it was with the December patch, it would have been a bit better reviewed.
Anyway, if they had emulated the behavior of the dual screens, I would have been fine with it.
Marques, Hyundai has a car which makes the actual sound which the ioniq N is emulating, it's the Elantra N. sounds and drives amazing :D
I'm definitely one of the people that customized my iPhone with the shortcuts 😳😂. My apps are monochrome so it matches whatever wallpaper I have and icons are minimal shapes.... I like it because no matter what app developers do with the default icon (color and actual physical shape), I still have my desired look of apps.
That being said, I don't plan on using the built in color customization 😬

I bet the screw on the back of the cmf phone allows you to change out the back panel for others. That would distinguish it from every brand by giving customers an option instead of being locked into one color like other brands.

I live in Seoul and the most popular phones are either iPhones or the Samsung flip. Tons of people have them. The fold is considered to be an old person’s phone, and you kinda don’t see it being used by people under the age of 50-60

Having the circular screen on the squarish chassis of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra would allow for a rotating bezel for navigation around the OS, while offering a larger battery.
Performance of an electric car + good sound that we know and love. People like new things, but love what they know but are made better.
What if you could replace the entire housing of that cmf phone with an affordable replacement? Might obviate the absolute necessity for a back case.

I think the 5n is genius. Think there's a lot of folks, probably a bit older, who want electric but don't want to lose the engagement of ice. I wish they'd put that programming in my Taycan.
For the Ioniq 5N: I wonder if-not on THIS car specifically (since, like you mentioned, it’s a track car)-the *tech* from this could be adapted to get people comfortable with transitioning from ICE to electric.
Like, I don’t have a CVT (yet); I imagine that will feel weird, because I learned on a manual transmission. Going from that to electric would be a learning experience. This might make it easier?

Ioniq 5N is a beast, more than just sounds - look for videos of it on the Nurburgring. One of the fastest electric cars on a track.
I'm the customer for a 5N I love electric but I think a lot of the hate it gets from actual car people has to do with noise and banging gears just sounds fun
