Keep baby wipes in the truck. That way you have something to clean your hands with.
Baby wipes won't handle that kind of muck. The heavy duty blue mechanic's towels work better.
I find your land preservation and management priorities admirable. Most would just build a herd without taking the land into consideration. You guys are stellar ranchers!!!
the video where they did the stocking analysis was interesting also, because stock rate depends on pasture quality, water availability (I think), and amount of hay they want to buy and feed.
You talking about the ear tags reminded me of a while back, my friend was driving by a field of cows and her little boy in the back said "Those cows are brand new." When she asked him why he thought they were new he said "Because they still have the tags on them"
😆
Big Joe is my favorite. He looks so sweet even with his size. I loved the one video when he came up to your window of the truck and let you pet him and talk to him. ❤
Dusty. I'm at Custer State Park now. The herd off buffalo used our vehicle as a salt lick. It was magical. I've been watching your channel since the start. I knew to enjoy , respect them and keep the windows and doors shut. I appreciate what you do. They are huge.
Bison
I don't have any advice, but I would donate toward purchasing more land.
Had the opportunity to visit Kankakee Sands in northwest Indiana. They have a herd of 90 bison on 1100 acres. What a experience to see these majestic animals
That’s only 45 minutes from me and I didn’t know about it. Time for a trip.
Explaining why Hoss went to the Big Joe herd makes a lot of sense giving Dumbar time to get his weight up. It looks like hoss has settled in nicely. Talking about future moves sounds exciting, challenging & considering cost. We really enjoy watching you & Marissa’s working with the Bison. Thanks.
I couldn't have said any better!! 😊❤❤
A suggestion I heard from the Canadians at the NBA conference for tagging is to paint ball the momma with the calf with the same paint color to keep track of whose with who during working and tagging. Easier to keep track of genetics
You and Marissa have a lot of work ahead of you. The first female calf you should name her Sunshine.
Will Hoss ever have his own group of females? I like Joe and Dunbar, but Hoss is my favorite bull! I also love many of the females. Love watching the red dogs! Also amazed at what wonderful mothers bison are. May you and your family have blessed 2024!
Best looking CEO anywhere, and what a ranch hand she is. Truly appreciate what the 2 of you are doing, raising American bison.
What about using herbs like sweet wormwood, garlic in the food to get rid of parasites. Much cheaper than darts.
Loving this Dusty and Marissa. That Hoss guy just cracks me up!
I learn new things with each video.😊
More babies are coming soon❤
I'd keep Dunbar on the ponderosa and move big Joe to new land. Because Dunbar has more of a personality than Big Joe. I know it's work to take care of all these animals. I love watching the bisons each one has their own personality. The calves are so cute. I would love to pet one and hold it, mommy won't let you do either. But to touch them like you do is so great. I like how you get to be around them and to know them. Keep up the good work on these bisons. God bless you.
I often share your videos with my students. They love them. I can use them for writting prompts, comprehension, history, science...We all love it..Keep it up.
I'm interested in seeing the Bull Calf "Legs" mature. I know nothing about Bison but if I had to guess he's going to be much a stud.
Come on Companies and people! Isn't there a respectable company out there that can get them a really good squeeze shoot that is heavy duty enough with everything they need to take care of this guy and his animals. Yes, I'm saying he is a Very, very good Rancher and really cares about his animals and takes the best care of them. It would be great to see him get something like this. His wife us no slouch either she also helps. Give them some much needed help. They never ask for help. Good hard working people. When though they never ask for help they really do deserve this. From a farmer and ranchers daughter who was not afraid to help my dad growing up. My daddy farming and taking care of his cattle in heaven now. Take care.
Dusty, you and Maria need to figure out a way to create a kind of cube that has a wormer included. The bison are always so willing to eat the regular cubes you give them it would be a cinch to get them to eat the ones with wormer if they taste similar... No need to run them through the chute or to dart them. 😊
They make one. Safeguard does. It’s just not as affective
@@CrossTimbersBison It's sad that someone hasn't made something better at all affordable price. 👍
Can't thank you enough for your explaining it makes sense Baker family glad to see Marissa working beside you Dusty and getting to know your bison
My Great Great Great Grandmother was truly Belle Srarr on my Mother's side.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the bison and other animals. I feel like your doing a great job
The herd is looking great! I am asking God to guide to just the right land, at just the right time and just the right price. You and Marisa are good responsible ranchers. Proud of y’all.
I grew up on a beef cow/hog farm. Necessity was always the mother of invention on a daily basis. If you have a ball hitch, you need something tough with a chain attached to it that would be big enough to sit that big mineral block on it. You could just throw that chain over the ball hitch and then drag that big block to where you want it, and roll it off again. I hope you can find your darts.
I was hopeful of the leased land and high voltage electric fence would work for you. Prayers of blessing to your family! 😊
You and Marissa have your hands full, but work so great together! That head scratching on the mirror cracked me up.
Hey dusty and marissa.hope everything goes well.with the darts ❤
I sure hope you are able to get enough syringes. You guys are right on top of what your bison need! Good luck finding new property close that fit your needs! (I'm in Mississippi, so I'm of no help there.)
Hi Dusty and Marisa 😊😊
Can you rent or purchase from any neighbors nearby? Are there any elderly neighbors that have fallow property that needs working? Are any neighbors moving to another location or town and putting their original up for sale or rent? Does your city or county have property for sale or rent? Chase down owners of abandoned or fallow property and purchase or rent it. Can you coop or co-share with someone’s property for a share of meat produce from you or some other service or products?? Really excited to see Dunbar have his own herd❤❤❤ How is Princess Eleanor doing these cold wintry days-would love to see her❤❤❤God Bless your endeavors ❤❤❤
Love your dedication to the welfare of your Bison kids. We think you all are amazing. ❤👍🪶
Thank you!
You and the wife make a great team. Love to watch ⌚️
Hello Dusty and Marisa. Love all the Bison's but I have my favorites Eleanor, Big Joe, Dunbar and Hoss
ALWAYS Awesome THANKS for Doing what you DO GOD Bless!!!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
DUSTY and Marissa ,great video. Hope you are able to find the syringes you need for the bisons. Would like to start a fund raiser for you, where you're viewers could send money to you for buying land, just a idea to think on. Good luck with the bisons ranching. David, Utah. ❤❤❤.
Hello Dusty and Marisa
It’s a great thing that you have the dart gun! That was a good investment..
Blessings ❤
~Linda
Another idea-my parents had a bunch of acreage in VA. The grass and fields grew very wild so we let the neighbors keep their goats on our land to keep the weeds down which kept the rodents down. The goat owners took care of the fences and groomed the area so we didn’t charge them anything. So look around and see if you see and wild and woolly fields, the owners may want and need something to eat all that grass!!
The thought of selling them to be for a trophy hunt would crush me😢. I'm so happy you love them so much to make another herd.
You could try to talk Daniel and Dejay into becoming Bison Farmers!😊😂😂😂😊
Take care, stay safe and God Bless!!!❤😊
Thank you for Explaining leg
Dusty, good video. I want to thank you for preserving our heritage through the Bison. Means a lot to me . I am native Cherokee and Irish and love Bison. Most magnificent animal God ever created! I have followed you ever since you moved to this acreage from your small one. I loved listening to you and your dreams about have a lot of Bison and making sure the herds would grow and that there would always be Bison here in Oklahoma. Love you and Marissa and your Bison! Blessings from OKC.
I'm glad the snow and cold weather is gone and your getting rain.were under flood watches in Georgia
Stay safe 🙏 Hugs from Texas 🩷🤠🩷
You're back and I look forward to your videos every day. I consider it a meal
Good luck finding new land for Dunbar. GOD bless y'all.
Dusty you may want to try to get ahold of Storla Station in S.Dakota, it’s owned partially by Sonne Farms. They usually have pretty good stock of supplies.
Sounds like a good plan to me....More land is always a good thing....Thanks Dusty and Marissa ❣ 👍
Old F-4 2 Shoe🇺🇸
Marissa and Dusty, the progress y'all have made is marvelous. Love your animals.
Love the calf with the white leggs.
I remember you talking to Ethan at the NRCS Office. But did you tell us the exact number of bison that your calculations show that your land can handle? 💖🌞🌵😷
I am so glad that you explain everything on your channel!!! it makes it enjoyable to watch😊
Good evening from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures and your herds
Hey, Syracuse! 🟠 🏀 Ithaca meeting you here at Cross Timbers! Go figure! Dense fog here all day and tonight-bizarre!
Yes my friend
Love watching your videos. So informative and you do so much. God bless you always
Also helps to have the calves early and wean them in the fall. This helps not to bring moms down especially on a hard year. The more their pulled down the more chance the parasites have a chance of taking over.
The weaned calves between7 and 10 months really do well transitioning if u get them settled well before full winter hits
You guys have come So So far from the first I've been a fan from the first. KEEP UP THE AMAZING JOB OF KEEPING BISON GROWING . ,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Prayers and love for Belle Star for healthy birth of red dog!
Thanks, go for it Dusty. ✌🏻👊🏼
Love your video. Like watching Dusty and Marissa work together, strategize on the herd. Hope you are able to find more land but with economy/world this year, IMO, I'd be careful because I think next few months are going to be tough.
y, right, unfortunately. I'm in the country also, in SC, I think country folk gonna be better off...
🐴 you 2 are doing great. Conservation is the key. The bison are rare in this day and age. Keep up the good work.
Cool names too.
Dusty, you and Marissa are doing awesome things! I love your videos!!! Not a farmer, just an animal lover!
Most ppl do keep their heard bulls. Problem lies in when you start to keep any daughters. The goal is to alqays improve on anything your breeding.
That alone has 50 catigories. You have 2 heards so its going to take u a little longer and your just starting out.
I hate to see a great bull go for meat. So what we use to do when it came time is to do a null swap till they were about 15 to 18 then retire them.
You have to keep good records and carefull keeping to keep good strong lines.
Youll get there, and u have great mentors to help u
Even i.f you do find lease or purchase land and establish a new herd, is there enough of Dusty to manage another herd. To do the job right the way you do, it takes lots of time. Whatever you choose I know that my husband will be behind you and Marissa every step of the way. Best of luck.
I think your brother in law might have some land, but they need fences.
His brother in law is managing his land for deer and turkey, not bison
Im so happy and relieved❤❤❤ you are keeping Big Joe and Dunbar. I find it completely amazingly how you can walk in the same area with the with these gorgeous animals. Thank you so very much for teaching us about the buffaloes. I will always be watchingnyour channels to see the development of your sites ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really like that you named your Bison.. can you hug them? Especially when the moms have their babies. I also really like to hear about Dunbar and Big Joe.
Watching this from Canada makes me laugh. What would you do if you had real winter? Your winter is what we have in late fall.
Nice video Dusty your Bison are looking good and eating good
Can't you get the tubs with wormer in them?
Haus: hey can i get a cube and head scratch?
Dusty: (climbs in truck)
Haus: darn what's a fella gotta do to get a head scratch
😂😂
Weren't you looking at land last yr?
Amazing how you remember each heifer by name or number. 👍🏻
Thank you again Dusty, Marisa and Brook for all you do God Bless you all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Some people can be so cruel with their comments! I feel ad for the calf but feel worse for you and your family! My son vfust called me a few hours ago crying because hie beloved cat Lucky passed away during the night from who knows why he was a big beautiful house cat that wanted for nothing and my son loved him deeply.. as Mark said Life is so cruel.just a cat to some but a best buddy to Mark. Sorry for your loss and God Bless you and yours!
Bell Star is a beautiful bison hefer. Hope she has a healthy baby this year.
Great update 👍 👏 😊 tk❤
I so love watching your videos how you care about the bison and take care of them from WV
Suggestion solar powered circulation pump keep water from being stagnant and worm free. That piece of 200 lbs. Whatever put o-ring in it an hook by chain to trailer hitch on truck.
You are so right that you have to stay on top of your numbers and keep up with the proper rotation in order to take of the pastures. There is a lot of paperwork that has to be done to track all the different things that go into keeping healthy stock and land. It's not just putting the animals out and letting them graze.
I too think Haus does need his own ladies. They're very majestic animals A lot of knowledge your sharing. Thank you
Interesting information. The herd looks great.
I remember that.
I love watching the bison. Make more video’s plz. I love learning about them.
I love your videos…so informative and fun! Great job❤️
Y’all are so responsible, and caring. that is so nice to see ❤
Love your dedication to all your beautiful bison🦬🦬 stay safe , Blessings to you all 🙏🙏🥰
Wood and plains are the two species of bison that I believe exist. There is a subtle difference in the physical appearance.
Correct!
Great info today. Good luck finding land.
I enjoy watching and learning about your bison.
Yay, nice to see the Canadians! Hello from BC 🇨🇦
Anyone else having trouble with notifications? I just happened across this video and I'm glad I did because it was set at for me not to get any notifications, I just watched one the other day and everything was fine 😮
😊yall Do such a wonderful job taking care of your Bison n Thank You for Sharing videos n information I think its interesting.
Thanks for explaining so well. Your bison are spectacular.
Have a fantastic blessed Year.
I love the way you explain things. I have learned a lot.
Thank you for the great video!
I hope you can find more land nearby. The more bison in America, the better!
The bison are looking great 😊
The drought has caused so many issues and clearly the parasite load for animals is a big issue. I pray that 2023 was the need of the drought cuz it has been pretty dire in many places in the Plains and Midwest. We need the rain badly here in Iowa. Our state is approaching the longest period of drought since the 1950’s with 192 consecutive weeks of abnormally dry conditions. Some areas of the state saw 12-15 inches below normal rainfall and others as high as the 22-25 inch below normal at its worst. They are also talking about having to initiate water restrictions this spring. Hope and pray we all get the necessary rains and snow to help our animals and crop.
Enjoy watching your videos & how you explain what you're looking at & thinking about. Stay warm!
