    I have been afraid to make this delicious recipe for so long, then I realized how easy it is to pickle the cabbage. Thank you for this recipe, for some reason my mom never made it but it’s the only thing I would look forward to at funerals 🥲

    This is different than our canadian recipe with tomato sauce, would love to taste the difference.

      Yeah we never make it with tomato sauce! It's so good without it! Worth the try.

    I can’t believe this is the first time I seen this video!!! This is almost identical to my Baba and my Mom and my sister and off course myself lol! I’m so happy to see this. We are Croatian and my new daughter in law is 100% Japanese ,she just been in the USA for a 1 1/2 years. I’ve been teaching her our dishes and she is teaching me some of hers! Her and I just made stuffed grape leaves … she loved them!

    Made this before and it was so yummy! I am Serbo-Croatian but haven't made it often in my life. I am making it again for this Christmas so I am back here again :) This time I will try and make them deconstructed. Less work, same taste perhaps. Let's see how it goes!

      Meron ganyang recipe ang Turkey usually origin ng recipe is Turkey country talaga sis. Sarma din ata tawag nila. Try mo sis kilangan permented yong cabbage. Salamat 😘

    Sarma kada se mota, mora se sa strane još ugurati prstom da meso ne iscuri van i da se ne odmotava kupus kao kod vas, a i ljepše izgledaju. Isto tako sarma se OBAVEZNO RADI SA ZAPRŠKOM (poprži se brašno i crvena paprika na malo ulja i ulije se sarmu pred kraj kuhanja, te krčka još 10 minuta.)Sve ostalo je super.

No unfortunately we do not have this kind of recipe in South Africa, but I am going to make your recipe as soon as my fermented cabbage and sauerkraut is ready, i see some people on youtube when making sarma first cook the mince and others leave it raw when rolled in cabbage, what is your opinion on this.

      You can cook minced meat first or you can leave it raw when roll in the cabbage either way they are both taste delicious. I tried to cooked minced meat before i roll it i can't see the difference in taste they both taste the same and yummy. Goodluck with your fermented cabbage. You can lessen the bacon and add some sausage instead and some spices too if you want.

      @@CroAsianKitchenLife Thank you. I cant wait for the fermented cabbage, luckily in South Africa it is warm, so fermentation is faster than in colder climates, so hopefully soon i will be making your sarma recipe.

      Let me know the outcome! Yes. Here in Croatia we start fermenting cabbage when the weather start get colder, coz it's foods for the winter . You can make salad too with the fermented cabbage just add some oil it's healthy! Or just sauté it with onion bay leaves at pepper, that's a delicious side dish.

    Yung cabbage parang luto nah..sarap naman..sa middle east sis gumagawa din.kmi kanin sa loob ng cabbage...sobrang tagal maluto

      Thanks for watching! You can make homemade sauerkraut, you need a lot of cabbage or how many cabbage you prefer then a lot of salt. Let it fermenting for 3 to 4 weeks.

    This is the closest recipe to the way my mother used to make Sarma, the only difference was the way she rolled the Sarma and she also would put smoked ribs in with the bacon. This is the best way. Of course i say that because my mom.

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Yes for me this is the best way of cooking the Sarma. I learned it from my late mom in law,i just rolled my sarma like that coz that's how i get used to roll the spring rolls hihi. Yeah you can put bacon, sausage or pork ribs as well yum one of my favorite foods especially in winter time 😀

    Your supposed to fry up the garlic and sweet red smoked paprika and a little flour with olive oil and add that at the end, to give it a rich smoky flavour and the same goes with any dish when using the smoked red paprika powder, like Gruh and golash or praprekarsh or saft, with chicken wings. :)

      With grah and gulasand other dishes yes, I'm making that flour garlic paprika powder to make sauce or soup thicken and tastier but with Sarma not. I'm avoiding that fried flour zapirska coz its not so healthy.. But it's delicious with or without zapirska. Thanks for watching. Are you from Croatia?
