The narrator of the 2nd tape said that ‘Arle is on her adventure to Madou School’, proving that Saturn Madou was initially planned to be a reimagining of Madou Monogatari 2 and 3.
Seeing how all the trailers show the same footage at some points (& I'm assuming these are all sourced from different publications), Compile probably recorded a handful of B-roll footage and sent it off the magazines & the like to review (other game developers from the time would also do that). So there's a chance that a full b-roll tape of this exists.
I'm Japanese. It was over 30 years ago, and even most Japanese people don't know about it, so you really researched it in detail. Then I'll give you some good information. A new Madou Monogatari game will be released on November 28th this year.
So glad to see someone else who is so fascinated by the Saturn RPG, barely anyone talks about Madou, let alone this game... It’s so underrated and honestly one of my favorite things about Madou/Puyo. Thanks for this cool and informative video!
Thanks for watching! What in particular makes me overjoyed is that in the time since i’ve made this video, even more pre-release material as well as hidden content in the final game have been found (young Lagnus and Nasu Grave’s voice clips are all in the files to the game!) No translation patch yet, but maybe someday!
I think the animation was cut because of the camera angles during the overhead shot. The floor is uneven so maybe it was corrected fast by an editor or director?
11:02 They didn’t completely change Schezo’s win sprite, actually. In the final version, Schezo has two different win sprites depending on if it’s really Ragnus or not.
I did however find the tweet where I sourced that scan from! I usually have trouble with putting links in youtube replies, so I’ve added the link to it in this video’s description.
@@DaEgg123 thank you so much. I'm documenting a lot of stuff on the wiki/doing general cleanup so this helps narrow it down 🙏 I was mostly curious since it looks like a region from the shin madou novels, specifically the region from volume 1 and where arle was born, and it doesn't resemble the in-game map of saturn at first glance? which kind of makes sense because of Oda's involvement
How was 1998 a “late release” for then Console....? I believe the last Saturn game dropped in like Jan 2001. Saturn had nearly 7 years of development, it was going super strong in 1998

You summoned the Puyo Peeps with this big info. Myself included.

There is indeed a chance and there’s also a chance you’ll be the one to get that tape for us.

Moar Madou Monogatari content is always welcome here, even If I'm still a very casual at it.

yeah that was my bad, I didn't realise that at the time when I made this video

Which magazine are those second sets of scans from? The one at 15:07 specifically
I’m not sure D: all I remember was a Japanese twitter user posted those, I recall they didn’t say which magazine they’re from though…

In relative to when the Dreamcast released in Japan, I consider that to be a late release.
not more puyo content
