Even defending her albiet nearly killing Schezo, in WWPPD manga he attacks Schezo due to his rep but he screwed himself over as Schezo ends up being saved as well saving Serilly bridal carrying her, Serilly falling for Schezo a bit. I really hope a Typescript of the manga happens soon
Not gonna lie, I was shocked Suke wasn't a fan favorite and was the complete opposite, guess I like overshadowed characters, huh? It's his whole gag of just doing shenanigans that make him appealing for me, funnily enough, he got a Teddie (the bear from Persona 4) costume in Quest and that guy was the only person who was in my party the whole game, I think I just find the wordplaying with fish and bear puns and their jolly personalities funny, not to mention some of his interactions with characters in 15th actually went pretty well. (Lemres, Akuma and Nasu Grave to be specific.)
I just woke up to this video putting a smile on my face in a way I sorta didn't expect. Really though, I really love how these essays take multiple perspectives into consideration and give nuanced looks into each of them. That bit at the end about creating your own stories for the characters you love to see be done more with especially resonated with me. Do keep at it guys, you're doing the Eng Puyo community huge favors with the amount of dedication you put into these video essays about certain topics surrounding the fandom. :3c
Heyo. Puzlow here! I just watched your video, and I feel like I really have forgotten about some parts of Suketoudara... until now. Suketoudara is honestly a great character, because while he doesn't exactly have lore... He does have loads of comic relief potential, and I'm fine with it. He also tends to have loads of great interactions with the part of the cast he DOES interact with, and he also exposes one part of Puyo that I kinda missed... I miss some variety of monsters in the series too, to be fair. While it doesn't matter too much for the "big encounters/meetings", it sometimes can be tiring to just reuse Gogotte as an enemy over and over again if they were like, traveling... which is especially prevalent in Puyo Fever 2(since while there ARE monsters to fight against, it felt like the game is kinda missing variety for some characters even down to humans because of the "Primp residents" in the in-game books). Speaking of some of the "human obscure" characters and writing... I do remember having loads of imagination adventures with Gogotte who I tend to name "Malt", even if he tended to be unimportant. The fact that he was listed as a traveler in PPQ kinda made me start writing my stories as/with him. I wrote some dynamics with the cast he met(mostly Primp or madou so far) in that story. In fact, the fact that he even got 2 alts as of late made me so happy! As for the other stuff... The fact that you've mention the KOF series and some characters not being as cool kinda opens up for more varied character development in the series. Sure, not everyone needs to be cool like Terry and/or Kyo tends to be, but characters like Chang and Choi, or even anti-heroes like Ash(or their equivalents if it's another SNK game) and their dynamics makes stories in most of the SNK games to be very great. (And most of the other great stories, too!) I hope you have a great rest of your day, Mamono. 😉
I allways see suketoudara as this comedic side-characther that occasionally pops uo from time and time again, so i don't really mind if he doesn't have any big intresting lore or anything like that, because he's suketoudara, and suketoudara is good
6:40 I always do this with my characters tbh 😭 I keep making characters cuz I feel like they would be fun to introduce in the story. I like to say that if I don't care about a character, then it never existed in the first place. Yes, I care about every single character I make and I never get tired of it :)
Okay, I'll get this out of my system first PPT2 Post DLC Sonic: 1 (2.4%) made me chuckled Now to the main thing My opinions of Suketoudara have softened (from I hate him to he's there, so fair), I agree with the video of the reasoning on why Suke being a main stay is okay and liked the idea of a TRUE side character admist of dozens and plenty of protagonists, antagonist and deuteragonists doing lore related stuff and it helps the fact that Suketoudara can help with not just the roster but the pacing of any story given since sometimes, you don't want a story to be TOO heavy. A relief from all the heavy lore dump is always nice
He's been in the main cast for so long I feel like he's become an underappreciated cornerstone of why people find the characters of Puyo Puyo so interesting. It's like, "Yes there's a fish, yes he can dance, and there's nothing wrong with that because it's Puyo Puyo and it's just like this sometimes."
i love suke, and his inclusion in the games seems like a love letter to compile-era puyo. amitie and ringo’s stories were based in a school setting, but arle’s was an actual mysterious adventure, and after fighting against knights, witches, martial art girls, minotaurs, half-demons, and satan HIMSELF.. its nice to sometimes go against a fishman, or an elephant, or a ball of fire.. =P first vid ive watched btw, subbed
ive always been a huge fan of suketoudara and the weirder compile enemies in general. being a non-humanoid madou enemy that actually stuck around is pretty major. it sucks hes hated and that, understandably, ppl point to him in a negative manner when it comes to roster talk but, as a suketoudara fan, im used to it. ppl have their opinions and thats ok :) if u ask me he is a perfect boy
Say whatever you will about the fish, his 20th theme is pretty good. Also, while I'm far from being an expert on the KoF series it's always nice seeing it mentioned in those videos of yours. Any fighting game mention is good.
I would be ok with Suketoudara getting his own game to explore more of his lore. Even in a way similar to DA or the Sega DDR style games. Just... keep him out of the ballerina outfit from DA, that's cursed..
Honestly, as much as I feel okayish to Suketoudara, I can't really find a way to dislike him like if you don't like the fish related puns, be my guest but besides that? I dunno. He's just there being a dancing fish and that's okay. Noone has to like him but you're being really mean if you're trying to find a way to hate him. Anyways stay tuned to my next talk on why Professor Layton is one of the best puzzle game series-
On the subject of lore, I feel it's important to note something. In the MSX2 and PC-98 versions of Madou 1, Arle learns how to cast Revia (formerly Bayo-hihihi) from fighting Suketoudara for the first time. He is the reason she knows one of her spells, assuming one wants to count that as canon.
@@kirbyvskirby I'm glad someone else besides me remembers he exists. One of my favorite characters in this franchise is Kikimora. Even though she hasn't appeared since Puyo Puyo~n, I can appreciate who she is. Plus, she has some pretty comedic moments too.
Ok, the 1st reason is loterally the same applied to non-objects at a object show. 💀 Rq, do you believe that Suketoudara would win Got Talent shows, given the chance?
I wouldn’t mind if Suketoudara got more lore tho. His dumb crush on Serilly is one of my favorite aspects of his character lol
IKR it's kind of cute honestly 😭
He's actually pretty much respectful of Serilly sooo
Even defending her albiet nearly killing Schezo, in WWPPD manga he attacks Schezo due to his rep but he screwed himself over as Schezo ends up being saved as well saving Serilly bridal carrying her, Serilly falling for Schezo a bit. I really hope a Typescript of the manga happens soon
Fish is Over-hated. He just grooving along, and that's okay.
based
nah Based
with capital
I love suketoudara. he's just so chill.
it's weird you guys didn't mention he's a mainstay because he's the producer's favourite character
Fred's not in the fanbase anymore and I didn't know.
Explains the mascot suit though.

Honestly, Suketaodara being in the games even with the mixed opinions is quite the slay I have to say. Already like him much more because of that

I also like big crazy elephant and flamboyant skeleton because that's what puyo puyo is
FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS ME
Much love for the fish - I never thought about how much the "monster" cast has been trimmed down over the years... #Justice4Monsters

He's a groovy fish.
Very likeable.

Suketoudara will always be okay. We like him.
My opinions on Suketoudara have changed from time to time, now he has become one of my prefered Compile characters, actually
This video encapsulates how I feel. Even if you replace "Puyo Puyo" with "Mario" and "Suketoudara" with "The Koopalings."
Well he is an okay lad just that people have an unjustified hatred for suketoudara
Honestly, as much as I feel okayish to Suketoudara, I can't really find a way to dislike him like if you don't like the fish related puns, be my guest but besides that? I dunno. suketoudara makes me wanna play just dance honestly
Okay but y'all remember Nomi?
Yeah.

Thank god for SEGA removing the accursed 24 character limit, it made all of my hate for the Fishy Boi go away.
Ok, the 1st reason is loterally the same applied to non-objects at a object show. 💀
Rq, do you believe that Suketoudara would win Got Talent shows, given the chance?
He's my fav, he's really funny!
i think theyre pretty cool
kind of a shame this doesnt mention him in sfc madou monogatari
💪Onion Pixie 💪
Haha, 2.4%. It's the number.
Wait... I LOVE SUKETOUDARA? .... i just don't like how long his nam3 is
People hate him?
Modern Suketoudara is kinda annoying for me because of fish puns, well, in both English subs and dubs since PPT1.
