Thanks Eshter!
Thanks!
Wonderful. I started studying violin at the age of 60, today, at 62 I try to play some simples songs. I love follow your presentations and studies. ❤
Congratulations!!! It make me so happy when I read things like this. Always is a good time to start making music. I wish all the best with your violin ❤️
semangat ! matur suksma
Hi! I'm 60 and I'm just about to start! How did you find it starting at a late age? Are you still studying? Any advice?! Thanks!
What my practice routine SHOULD look like:
- Scales(scale 3,6,12,24 then 3,24 + thirds sixths and octaves + arpeggios)
- The technical etudes
- Taking every passage slow and repeating it for 20 mins at least
VS
How my practice routine ACTUALLY looks like
- waiting till 8 bc I have to stop practicing at 10 bc neighbours and my parents can't force me do more practicing
- doing a poorly worked scale
- going on and playing the piece from the beggining to the end in the normal speed and repeating them for 2 hours
Please tell pe I am not the only one who doesn't have the patience...
I also lack it. Sometimes. But go hard or just play for fun. But there arent any half measures
Wow another me
"... playing the piece from the begining to the end" for 2 hours.
That's no use at all!! Always always always be either identifying specific problems or solving problems you've identified. Always solve your biggest problem next. Only play the piece through to find problems (you will always find some) NOT to see whether you will play it perfectly (you won't). When you start your practice session, start with the biggest problem - NOT at the beginning of the piece! (All this is to do with how the brain works. Repetition on its own yields nothing useful).
This is the way to do it if you DON'T have patience, 'cos it's far quicker!
Enjoy!
Your scales sounds like a concerto, nothing boring, only a beautiful music :))
Totally agree! 😂
I actually did a brief sight-reading/practice session in front of my orchestra class to show them my thinking: I think it is powerful to see someone else in this kind of a vulnerable state. Thanks for sharing with us, Esther!
Hey Esther actually you gave me inspiration to take my 6 years of violin back up after giving up for 6 months because I cant afford the lessons anymore thank you ! 👍 I have no idea what to do with all those livres des techniques but we ll figure something out
11:00 is what we violinists dream of being able to do.
Yeah wtf. At first when I saw the title of the video I was like:"I can use this warm up because I never know how to warm up." And then later in the video I am like, hahahahahaha no♥️
para mi si se puede
okay it doesn't sound like how I wanna play my violin, I prefer when she played slower but to each their own!
@@gensoustudio6270 she’s showing exercises. This is not playing.
@@BA-ue8lh You're always playing the instrument, doesn't matter the purpose you play for. At least how I see it. Maybe it's not a "performance" but she is playing the instrument.
I love, when you practice the doublestops. When the overtones creates a new tone, its so beautiful. thx for sharing your practiceroutine. Its really inspiring 😍
Thank you for sharing the experience of a great violinist like you. It is always useful and entertaining to watch your videos. Greetings from Argentina!!!!
I showed this video to my 9 years old daughter that practice is a long way to go.
Thank you so much for this! I always wish I could see more of the behind-the-scenes work on technique
Your 3rds! So impressive, fast and in tune

I’m a new subscriber and I’m glad I found you, I’m a beginner violin student and this will help me a lot like A LOT, blessing and thank you so much
El trabajo de tantos años esta dando sus frutos. Valoro tu entrega y dedicación. Sigue adelante tienes un futuro muy prometedor. Saludos desde México.
I'm so glad to see you posting about practicing and the work which we do behind the scenes!
I decided to take a slightly different approach with my channel, something a bit more introverted and centered on what it looks like when I practice, assuming that no one is watching and trying to forget that there is a camera.
Regardless, hope you keep going strong!!!
I have been looking for this video tutorial for a long time. Thank you teacher
So helpful thank you! I appreciate that you share the notes and are raw with your video & sound.
Like angel playing music in heaven..
You so gorgeous
So talented
And so kindness
Me a violist
Her : talks about 4 octave anything
Violists: we dont do that here lmfaoo
😂
I’m a violist and I do 4 octaves, double stops in thirds, 6ths, 4ths, and octaves. Plus fingered harmonics and trills on every finger combinations
Aw come on, don’t diss violists like that! I do all of the technique things as a violist, just not tenths. We don’t do tenths here
Sarah Wilson agreed! I play on a smaller viola (15”) and even for me tenths are hard to play on it. I can play them fairly comfortably on my violin though
Sarah Wilson tenths on the viola are akin to practicing voodoo and dark sorcery
You are amazing... Thank you... I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻
Brilliant work. You're an inspiration and way too humble, but that's a good thing!
Very helpful! Thank you for your sharing!

So pretty😍
I learn something from every video that you put out, ..., mostly, learning that I will never be as great as you. I keep laughing that the metronome sounds like the cowbell in Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper." Je t'adore, Mademoiselle Esther!
Thank you, Obrigado, Sucess!!!
We want more of your covers and music on Spotify. 😉
Thank you for interesting video!
It was very insightful and inspiring. Thank you for the share.

Happy belated birthday!
@@rosegranger2872 Thank you!!! ❤️
Obrigado por compartilhar!!!!!!!!
I am in the 7th year of violin and sometimes I warm up directly at the concert
Maravilha , parabéns ❤❤❤
In fifth and sixth positions try switching between the fifths you where practicing at 11:00 and another like 7ths or 1/3rds it will help with being more sure about e placement and tone, and don't rush the notes your practicing take time to focus on the colors and how they shift with brivado or pressure or speed even direction changes on the bow the note can take it's time and because you are drawing it out of the instrument you control it. Thank you again for sharing and for practicing.
Gracias por su apoyo
Wow😮, buscaba cobre y encontré oro 🎻🎶😇👍
