My two cents on this current topic: Had supply side fiscal policies been introduced earlier and implemented prior to this monetary reform, the economy would have stood a chance to absorb some of the imminent jolting shock since the LRAS curve would have shifted right thereby giving support through higher outputs and increased productivity resulting in lower prices. Secondly a jumbled up combination of interventionist and free market policies ( the latter, where the forces of supply and demand caliberate market imbalances) only exacerbates a fragile econmic environment. A well crafted combination of a managed and floating monetary approach may have rendered a more rational outcome... ? Next stop? Capital markets? Your excellent view point on sound policies and strong institutions as prerequisites is music to my ears.
So what do you think of the timing the reform came to effect with respect to our institutional executive capacity and shortfalls in supply side monetary measures? Your views are vague.
