    Riders may not believe me but my Hawk is more stable on the highway than my Honda XR650L…for me that is. I couldn’t figure it out at first but then I did. My weight is about 170 which balances out to a lower center of gravity on the Hawk…just feels solid at high speeds. Since the XR is heavier and taller, my center of gravity is higher and creates a top heavy feeling at high speeds. I’ve been riding for 40 years now.

    Thank you for the vid and bike tips! Now that the price of the Hawk is within a few hundred of the Hawk DLX, I am considering the DLX. MOTOCHEEZ and HANZ DID IT! and others on TH-cam seem to prefer the efi and say the DLX is more responsive, torquey, and quicker. MOTOCHEEZ compared the efi version to a carb modified Hawk and said he felt the DLX still performed better, even after the carb mods. Love the look of your red Hawk though! That is definitely the nicest looking stock color combo of all the Hawks!

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah it seems like the DLX performs a little bit better with the added benefit of being ready to go without mods and an even better fork.. can't get mad at that! I chose to go carbed cause I wanted to learn how to do this stuff but next bike will surely be EFI.. I'm already looking at supersports every single day haha won't be long before you see a "I upgraded to X" titled video lol

    • @mfuchs2004
      @mfuchs2004 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't recommend wasting the money for the EFI version. Is it better? When it works it can be. When it doesn't, then the bike is scrap. The so-called Bosch system isn't Bosch. It's also only warranted for 90 days and a search shows no replacement parts. Can you go aftermarket efi? Yes, but you'll need a tuner and there are no maps so you'll also need a MAF reader costing several hundred. Replacement of a failed system can easily cost more than a new bike.
      Also, with the EFI bike, you can't change out exhaust since the EFI needs a remap when you do. Don't quote me, but I think that only the CA version of the DLX has MAF bungs that can maybe adapt, but not sure.
      Or? You can just stay carbed. I recommend you do. I have 50 years of riding both carb and EFI bikes. Carb has distinct advantages for low-cost and longterm longevity when replacement parts streams are suspect.

    More fun to ride a slow bike dast than a fast bike slow. I found the vintage 750s to be a good balance. My 1976 CB750 is more than adequate, and thats after 3 years and 15k miles of riding. Nothing wrong woth a 250. I'm looking at a Hawk 250 just to have a cheap enduro.

    I know this video is 11 months old now, and I probably will not get a response but here go's anyway. When you purchase a motorcycle from Amazon, do they notarize the MCO? The reason I ask is because my state requires the MCO be notarized by the dealer/seller or the DMV will not process the paperwork for registration. Thankyou.

    I recommend Chinese scooters for the same reasons.. you’ll learn how to work on them and whe; you consider that most people don’t know what A clutch is anymore, they ease them into the whole “two wheels in traffic” thing with out the gears.
    On the hawk though, I was soo close to buying one a few years back but ended up finding a basically new rebel250 for less. Loved that bike and while it was definitely higher quality than any of the Chinese stuff I’ve owned, you can’t really find nice ones for $1500 anymore. However I’ve put 10’s of thousands of trouble free miles on Chinese scoots that we’re running $60 bore kits and other dirt cheap upgrades. They do fine if you respect and take care of em.

    • @dirty-moto
      @dirty-moto ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get the dual-sport itch again, I highly recommend the Xpro Templar X 250. My first bike was the CSC TT250 which is a variant of the Hawk. The Templar is more of a real dirt bike in its capabilities, and feels like an upgrade in almost every way from the TT250. Some of the parts are of aftermarket-quality like the pegs and the shifter, comparable to what I had to add to the TT.
      And it's a true 250 so you do get more power and a sixth gear to match the Rebel. With a $2000 MSRP, it's a steal if it ever comes back in stock. The body panels match up with the 2007 to 2009 Suzuki RM-Z250.

    Well I do recommend these bikes for one reason that you didn't mention. It is a world of difference riding where you are and in a major city. These bikes are good to see if you want to put up with traffic. You have to realize that there is a 4 thousand pound car next to you and they are texting on their phone and you don't exist.

    I'm on my moms channel, that's why there's s pic of a lady but I just recently got the hawk 250 for my beginners bike and I love it, it's so cheap on gas and really reliable, the only thing in not a fan of is the gearing, I feel like I already need something bigger and faster, ut says 80 on the speedometer but I dont feel like itll reach 80 stock

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you definitely want to change the gearing, I run 17 in the front 45 in the back that's pretty popular for this bike so you can actually get a usable range of gears, definitely recommend that. The stock speedometer is terrible though I wouldn't even pay attention to that, an upgrade is worth it and it's a lot easier than it seems. This is my first bike and I was able to do almost all the mods my self besides swapping my tires and rear sprocket

    I just bought a Trail Master TM38. Has EFI and water cooled engine. A KTM knock off. Break in is rough. Trying to get it in neutral is hit and miss. Tires on pavement suck. Too much vibration. Chain sucks but I'll use it till it stretches. Rear shock needs adjustment. Speedometer doesn't work. Yup, typical Chinese bike. If it doesn't get better after tire change and break in I'm gonna sell it.

    What would be the main difference between EFI Fuel injection model and carb model, I’ve been deciding between the two for the past 2 months and don’t know which to choose. Fuel injection has better front shocks but can you do more upgrades with carb version?

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the carb version is the one you want if you're gonna upgrade stuff, it's possible to flash the EFI but its complicated right now. I believe people are working on solutions though. The carb model is nice for a first bike since you learn how a carb works and it's so easy to get to that you can mess with it all super easy
