As someone who's generally interested in the entire LoL eSports scene, but never really takes the time to watch, this is massively helpful.
Playing since 2010, but the only thing I ever watch is worlds somehow :D

I'm thinking it'll be way better for making sure the teams that deserve to win end up winning

riot can’t seed swiss in a coherent manner because they consider the top seeds of non kr/cn leagues better than seeds 2-4 of the korean and chinese leagues
swiss even with global seeding fucking sucks (look at the csgo majors)
@@GMambastill could have unlucky runs but at least every team has a chance, like liquid goes agains EDG or T1 wich is unlucky and loses, then if a super team like GenG loses to lets say JDG, at the next game liquid could potentially go against GenG wich would be unlucky again, its a low percent chance for it to happen trice in a row wich is better than a garanteed loss in groups but still possible and lowers the potential placement for the team.
@@lukasausen Yeah teams can get unlucky too but probably without the feel of frustration after the group draw. Even though teams might get eliminated sooner (0-3 instead of 0-6), at least they made the elimination round a best of 3 series. Overall, I think the swiss format will benefit more for teams that are good at best of one.
I respect the hell out of how you broke down the teams.
You gave every team a fair shake in their rundown. With no "na vs eu" or "east vs west" Bias. Just "heres all the teams and their strengths."

Regarding DFM, its not that they thoughts tol2 wasnt good, its that tol2 left the team after the coaches abused him, coaches got kicked and without a top yutapon roleswapped and somehow they won

Always glad to see a Poro video! I always link your breakdowns for anyone new to LoLesports who wants to learn more. I’m gonna miss the double elimination format from LCK and LPL playoffs, as those basically guaranteed all the good matchups, but I’m hopeful that this Worlds can deliver as much as last years. My BLG Hopium is at an all time high!
Also, gotta love that Kiin gets 6 notable champions lol man’s a beast.

While I try to remain unbiased, a lot of people know that Loud is my favorite team participating at Worlds this year! Hoping they get out of play-ins and I think they have a real chance to do it

This worlds really does seem like a rock paper scissors. The draws this year seem more important than ever. Probably the hardest worlds to predict.
I'm always surprised at how consistently DFM make it to Worlds with only 1 spot in the region. I know the Esports scene isn't huge in Japan but it's still incredible

Will the pairings of the first round in the swiss stage be determined by pool and region? So that teams from pool 1 won't face another pool 1 team and won't face another team from their own region, like it was done in the classic group stage? Or is it completely random this time?
First round is 1v4 and 2v3 with regional protection
Im currently rooting for IMT in lcs because I like underdogs, but Dhokla is my favorite LCS player so NRG is the team I want to win worlds (probably not though 😐)

Wouldn't it be ironic if 2023 worlds is just a repeat of 2018 worlds? RNG were the favorites to win worlds by winning every event they attended, and beating IG 3-2 in LPL playoffs. If JDG randomly loses, I could BLG winning worlds while never beating JDG this year. That would be hilarious if BLG win worlds while be 0-7 in Best of series.

This is the most stacked Lpl lineup we have ever seen at worlds. Lng are my dark horse they were so close to beating Jdg twice that i really think they can beat the best lck teams. Wbg is the worst lpl team but could also be the best as that is how stacked that team is. Jdg are titans and its hard to see who could beat them. Even if the patch drastically changes the game their roster is so dynamic that they could adapt to anystyle and i also think that they have the 4 best players in the world in Top Mid Jng and Adc. Blg are very very patch reliant so we could see them once again roll over lck teams or they could get choked out by the slower teams like Lng did to them. Overall i hope that Blg and Jdg meet in finals and that Blg wins 3-2 it would be an insane storyline.
how are they a dark horse? if you watched lck and lpl you should easily believe that jdg and lng are the two best teams in the world then you would hvae to put blg 3rd bcuz they best gen g and then gen g

@@jimb0072LNG had decent regular split however they actually played crazy in playoffs. IMO LNG can actually upset JDG but I won't expect too much as they will play a different patch

One small correction: Fnatic cant take Wunder to worlds, Wunder was FA before summer and was only allowed to one small resign until the end of september by Riot because of Oscarinin Injury taking place in the worst window possible, with a month to prepare Riot wont probably allow it again since Fnatic has an academy Toplaner, Doxy and you cant do signings outside of the offseason, and thats if its even needed since Oscar is expected to be fully healed for worlds.
Why wouldn't Fnatic have to use their listed sub or Doxy in the first place? lmao
It's not like riot injured Oscar and owed Fnatic, he probably punch a monitor making it a self inflicted injury and Fnatic gets rewarded for this??? Logic.
@@colin5197 yeah I don't know, In fact Doxy was present during Excel match in case Oscar hand hurt so much he couldnt continue playing, but then they allowed Wunder in, it seems something like the Danny Kaori situation last worlds idk whats Riot reasoning for allowing or not, for example T1 had to play with their academy midlaner...

Blg has always done well vs wbg. Really wbg has no problem with jdg so far in history. Its like a triangle which i would say originates from all 3 toplaners being super different from each other in what they do

RIP to the LCS. After this year’s Worlds, there’s probably going to be massive changes. Let’s be real, we all know NA, is going to have their worst Worlds performance 😂. 2 out of the 3 teams are frauds. And C9 just isn’t good enough to beat LPL, LCK, and G2.
I really miss the old LEC players, namely rekkles, jankos, caps, bwipo, soaz... ok I miss the old Fnatic and G2 :(

Somehow, every msi recently, lpl is always stronger than lck, but somehow again, lpl just gets absolutely dominated by lck during worlds
It's crazy to me that will be rooting GAM over Na. There not scared to pick spicy picks or spicy strats. Unlike Na that do nothing but roll over and die slowly. only to fight at the nexus 12k down.
GG dimantled GAM so I don't see them doing any serious damage to any team from the major regions. They wont even make it to groups..

I don't really like the swiss format for a game like League. It takes much of the excitement away from seeing teams compete for elimination even very early in the game. Though arguably more fair, swiss format should be reserved for tournaments with lots of competitors, like for example in chess.

I am really sorry but the presentation of PCS teams is such misrepresentation, the difference between how you presented PSG and CFO was so disguistingly biased, to the point where you 1. Misrepresented PSG playoff run, by saying that their semifinal, from which they've had to come back from a 1-2 deficit was a 'cruise' 2. Depicted CFO as someone who didn't deserve to be at worlds over DCG of all top TW teams. 3. Completely omitted the fact that the finals were 100% blueside winrate.
I am going to omit slight champion pool mistakes, as these are minor compared to the overall presentation of the teams, which was bordering on PSG fanboyism.
If you want a clearer, but also longer representation of CFO - here's one.
CTBC Flying Oyster was a team that had massive expectations coming up after breaking away their first championship, breaking the PSG Talon dynasty. They've made two changes from their original worlds roster with Jimien swapping out Mission and ShiauC swapping out s1aytrue, who swapped out Koala, who went to coach CFO. After a 3rd place finish in the summer, CFO looked strong in the first round robin, only to go into a 7 game losing streak - including giving the only win to the last placed team - into a nailbiter of a tiebreaker against Frank Esports, into relatively decisive wins against Team Bliss and Deep Cross Gaming, into a triple silver scrapes run against Frank Esports, Beyond Gaming and PSG Talon.
Their player to watch is definetely Rest, who is in fact not the best toplaner in the league, as he is clearly behind Driver on that department, but he is still a man who stood his own against the best toplaners in the world, despite his extremely rollercoaster form in summer. Apart from him, you can clearly look up to pretty much every single player from the team, from Gemini, who humbled Closer in the non-covid matchup vs 100T, through Jimien who had a surprisingly good finals performance, into Shunn who despite not really being the second incarnation of Doggo, is still a player to look forward to alongside ShiauC, one of the most dangerous Blitzcranks in the tournament.

On top of that the only positive thing you've said about CFO isn't even true, Rest isn't the best toplaner in the league, Driver is the best by a long mile in pretty much every aspect.
