In the late 90s, the Touareg and Cayenne were developed by the same people. Around 2000, the two teams separated and worked in secret to finish designing the two SUVs - which were revealed in 2002. The two have the same body, drivetrain, base engine, and suspension (except for sway bars). Towing capacity is just under 8,000lbs

It's surprising how capable they are. Fast, comfortable, high tow capacity, and surprisingly good off-road. It's a shame that the Germans no longer believe in long-term reliability.

@@bwofficial1776 Mine's 18 years old and still kicking. They're high maintenance in terms of not taking neglect gracefully. In terms of frequency of issues, it's about what you'd expect from a similar age Grand Cherokee. Not great, but not close to as bad as Range Rover. Most of the issues with mine have been with vacuum hoses (which are easy to get at), and rubber bushings.
Despite it having a high cost of ownership, I find it to be a good value because there aren't many new cars that would bring me that much enjoyment

Speaking of the Touareg, he needs to review one. Especially the one with the V10 TDI. I'm pretty sure he's going to fall in love with that SUV because of its torque.

@@damilolaakanni I own the V8 model Touareg, and I have yet to find a car that I enjoy more (when it’s not costing me a fortune to fix). Unassuming in so many ways. So many people who go in it say “I can’t believe this car is a 2004”. Too bad they don’t have the 12 cylinder model in North America

That one is in great condition. The older cayennes are usually ragged out.
I wonder if it came from a family member, that is always the best way to get a nice used car.

I have a 2009 Cayenne GTS and the interior is mint with 112k. The secret is to put a conditioner on everything. It always really bothers me when I see the worn out buttons, especially for the air suspension controls. I use adam's polish leather conditioner on almost everything in the interior aside from the alcantara of course.

Speaking of it being featured in games, I remember a modified version of it called Gemballa GT750 in the game Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition Remix. It was super OP among all the SUV/Trucks featured in the game. Basically an SUV that drove and handled like a mid-sized saloon car.

Played the same game on Gamecube when it was new. Then had more "Bond Games", on my PS2, 3, 4. Great memories as always, thanks Zack.

Hey man, I found your channel after watching your review of the Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. Man you’ve come so far and yet are still damn good at what you do. Keep up the great videos man.

I almost bought a porsche Cayenne But it was a V6 base model I decided to buy a volvo xc90 V8 Because it had more options and it would be more reliable than a Porsche and I still have my xc90 and love it.

The Cayenne is the car that saved Porsche and is almost as iconic as the 911. If they'd phoned it in and made a dull cash grab SUV they might have gone bust but they made sure the Cayenne drove like a Porsche and it was a hit. It's fast, luxurious, can tow, and is surprisingly good off-road. It's rare to see first-gens now because these got cheap and got ragged out by people who couldn't afford the maintenance needs. The cool thing now is to build these safari/trans-Siberian style with a lift and chopped bumpers and a roof basket with lights.
It looks like a frog. It's a good looking frog but I can't unsee the frog.

You missed out the feature of the rear glass opener on Cayenne MK1.

Porsche boxster saved the brand in the mid-90s. Cayenne helped save them in the 2000s.

That intro with your Mazda is pretty cool. Could you do something like that with a submitters car and do one for each video. ? Mine would be a 2013 Dodge Challenger srt8. Black with silver race stripes.

I just picked up a Turbo S of the same year, and my feelings driving it are pretty much right in line with yours.

Well crossovers are their biggest sellers and money makers sooooo yeah
SUVs are probably their biggest priority and get most of the attention in order to you know... survive

Those tires are wrong for that vehicle. It needs the stock tire size.
