    Thank you for reaffirming what I thought needed done! My RV said most grills are not set up for low pressure, and when I called Weber and talked with tech support they told me the grill would not work and they told me that I can’t remove Weber gas regulator. Go figure, their corporate lawyers told them that.
    Great video,thanks for making it.

      That's the thing really, a company can't say that we're allowed to remove those regulators. Safety concerns from them if we are modifying their grill to do things it is not supposed to. Being confident in the work you've done and being safe though makes this an easy project! Good luck with it. It is an amazing RV grill, best one I've ever had.

    I have a Weber Q1200 too. I followed your suggestions and now my grill works great. Thanks.

    Thanks for the video. I was able to make the conversion with ease thanks to your parts list. Incidentally, the fitting that you said was not available is now procurable from Amazon - Legines NPT Reducing Coupling Brass 1/4" Female x 1/8" Female, Hex Reducer Coupler Adapter Pipe Fitting 1200psi.
    Price is 12.99 for a pack of two fittings. P/N is X001FTEI1. Additionally, to remove the old pressure regulator from the existing fitting will require a propane torch. The existing pressure regulator is installed with red (permanent) thread locker. If you try to force this off you'll ruin the valve.

    I got the same grill. All I did was pay 30 bux for a 15 ft flex gas hose hooked straight to the propane tank and its fitting fits straight into the grills regulator. Fires right up with no alterations at all. When you're done you disconnect and store in the rv. Takes less than 3 min to disconnect and reconnect.

    Thank you! I just bought a Q1200, (love it), followed your intructions and it works like a charm! It's sure a lot nicer using the quick connect on my Rockwood, and two 30 lb. bottles instead of the little one pounders.

    • @RPodSpotter
      @RPodSpotter  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it worked for you just as easily. I'm wanting to add a new quick connect piece to make the 1lbs interchangeable if for some reason I''m using the grill not at my own camper. Love the grill though, one of the best ones I've owned I think.

      Is your rockwood low or high pressure? I got a low-pressure system and I can't get this grill to work

    I just bought a Q1200 and wanted to do this conversion so I can use it on my travel trailers quick connect, problem is taking the regulator off. Weber used red locktite on the connection, & I'm not sure if it's threaded or non threaded! (Perhaps just a 1/8" non-threaded nipple that was glued in to keep people from tampering with it!!

    You go on and on about the fittings, adapters and the yellow Teflon tape. But you did NOT say anything about grills regulator that needed for the grill /stove to run off the RV's low-pressure system.

    • @RPodSpotter
      @RPodSpotter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I showed the original grill's regulator that I removed. I'm not sure I understand if you have a question about that?

    • @cheveco1981
      @cheveco1981 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Dumas , He don’t need any more the regulator in the grill because it’s connected to the RV propane pipe regulated at low pressure regulator.
      Hopefully answer your question.

    I bought a fire pit and BBQ grill from Lowe's. When I connect them to a 20lb propane tank with their regulators they seem to work fine. Later I decided to take them with me in my RV trailer and I was told I need to remove the regulators because the trailer already has a built in regulator on the trailers propane tanks. I use an auxiliary quick connect line off of my trailer that was design for a BBQ.
    The problem is that both BBQ grill and fire pit have low flame when turned on connected to trailer's propane. When I turn the BBQ grill's heat adjustment knob from low to high the flame remains the same, low. I know I can't change the regulator on my trailer because that would affect my trailers oven, furnace and stove top.
    Do I need to replace my BBQ grill and fore pit with a RV type grill and fire pit?

    • @RPodSpotter
      @RPodSpotter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll either need low pressure appliances or remove the regulators from the fire pit and grill

    • @EarlBalentine
      @EarlBalentine 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I removed the regulator from the grill and I still have low pressures. The flame looks like it is on the lowest possible setting.

    so are you then able to still use your grill with a stand alone 20lb tank? i want to do this but i also still want the option to take the grill somewhere without the camper. thanks!!

    • @RPodSpotter
      @RPodSpotter  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Melissa Grimm Not as it is currently. You could certainly put the regulator on it's own quick connect of it's own and then use it as normal. Or you could just undo the modded connection piece and attach things back the way there were originally.

      I repurposed the regulator with a female quick disconnect (and parts to create 1/4 MIP to 1/8 MIP adaptor) to keep it available for 1 lb bottle use or adapt to a stand-alone tank. (I had a hose with bottle male on one end and female tank (big thread) connector on the other). Now I have the best of THREE worlds!

  • @tonypritchett1759
    @tonypritchett1759 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Isn’t that a 1/8 male to 1/4 male for the initial connector to the grill?

      Just unfortunate the RV industry puts us in that position. Especially considering what we spend on these rigs.

    Just curious how much these all cost? I see there is now a kit for 39 dollars that includes an 8 foot hose. i had converted a cheaper grill with a camco adapter. I just picked up a new camper with a bumper mount for an aussie grill. it would be cool if i could mount the webber to that. thanks!

      +Vectorr66 I'd say I spent less than 20 dollars to modify mine. The quick connect was $9, the other two fittings I used were $3 and $7

      +R-Pod Spotter Thanks, I found 2 of the 3 items, for some reason the Watts LFA706 isn't being sold anymore. Any chance you can find another link on Amazon that I will need? I am not sure if you need 1/8 on each side or not. Thanks so much!!!

      Mike Carnevale I went to the hardware store and the guy there fix me up.

  • @michaeldobson8859
    @michaeldobson8859 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    A piece of advice is to not buy the hardware on Amazon. There parts are actually more expensive than what I found on just a Google search. When you buy from just Amazon, you have eliminated the competitive market and you just get Amazon suppliers. For fittings and hoses it’s more cost effective to try the open market.
