This was exactly what I needed to troubleshoot the propane flow issues. The part about resetting the regulator was CLUTCH. Thank you for taking the time to make and share this.
This worked perfectly! The q1000 and q1200 both have regulator issues and instantly thought I had to replace it before I saw this video. It’s not a lot work, just takes some elbow grease!
Thank you. I've had my Q220 since 2007 and it has always worked great. But I have recently been having trouble getting the grill heated over 350*. So I will try this fix. That was very helpful. ☺
Thanks. pretty thorough. Wasn’t enough for mine. While I had it discombobulated I open the valve under pressure and it dribble/ spurted oil from the regulator. I suspect the regulator is plugged with condensed oil from years of killer meals. Great of you to publish video. Thanks again.
I flushed out the tube but had to use a paperclip on that nipple to clear the blockage that was restricting the flow. Your video put me on the right track. Thanks.
Great video!! Thank you for taking the time to show us how to trouble shoot the Q2200. It is a great grill and I have not had any trouble with it (yet). W.
I purchased the "Q cleaning kit" from the Weber site and brought my grill back to looking new. I don't always clean it thoroughly after every use but after 30 mins with the kit, it was spotless. Again, thanks for all your input with these grills.
Thank you This helps a lot. Did not know that they can come apart like that to wash. Saving up my money for one of these grills. Still debating between a propane or an electric. Electric is more money with more cooking time.
Thank you for your comment. These little grills are amazing. I am still debating on whether i should pick up the electric version of this grill (weber Q 1400/2400). I would like to see how they compare when it comes to cooking and temps between electric and propane.
tonybuddy123 yeah. My research says that the electrics are good but you can't open up the lid as much to check on the meat because they will lose half thier heat each time you open the lid and they do not come with a version that has a temperature gauge on it. And it works better if the meat started cooking at room temperature. The Weber versions works better then other models. They are a lot more expensive though. Debating because the propane version cooks faster but the electric ones saves on purchasing propanes and don't have to worry about running out of propane while cooking. Thinking about it because wanting to cook on my balcony in the summer time so that I don't over heat the apartment in the summer time.
I do almost all of my cooking outdoors for that same reason you mentioned in your comment. I have yet to come across something i am not able to cook with one of my grills i own. I Purchased a brand new weber Q140 today on craigslist. Its the old model but there isn't much difference between the new and old model besides some minor cosmetic ones and the grates. I am going to make a video comparing the cook times between electric and propane. I am excited to see if there is a difference in performance. I should have that video done in the next week or so.
tonybuddy123 yeah I have seen a youtube video of a guy bbqing a roast of lamb, pork roast and a beef roast. (all different videos) they had it on a rack that is sold separately from the weber but it was made for the weber. There was another one whom roasted a red, green and yellew peppers on the weber, another that sliced a zuchinni in slices and grilled that to go with his steaks. (this last one was done on an electric). Been learning lots. I am saving money to getting one A weber. I did my research and I liked it. A lot of bbq come with grills that are not cast iron while the weber has and it is good priced.
I bought one of these sans stand, earlier this year after being on the fence about it and recently have gas flow issues within months of receiving it. :/
I agree. I figured i would save people the headache of trying to find a fix to these problems. These are amazing grills and like anything else, they have issues from time to time. Thanks for watching.
I have a brand new grill and the back burner doesn’t work after each use. It’s really annoying to have to brush off the burner tube after each use. This is stupid and I never had to do this with my Q1000, but this brand new Q2200 grill is junk. I’m sure we’ll end up taking it back, but I’ll let Weber send me a few new parts first.
Hi just seen this and I will give it a go tomorrow, but my issue is my Weber just 2 months old you think is this common or should contact to supplier? Thanks in advance
I had a screw come out of my weber baby Q where the regulator is held still so it fits properly into the burner. That let it get cockeyed and let too much air in. It was easy to fix once I saw the problem. Thanks for the video.
Also if you use water you can physically see which holes are plugged since water wouldn’t be coming out of it. You wouldn’t be able to visually see clogged holes with an air compressor.
Great video! 2 questions: 1) how long did you let the pipes sit before reinstalling? 3: how did you get your grill so clean? I have a year's worth of gunk seemingly stuck to the inside of the grill and I've not clue how to loosen it up.
Quick question. How long this 1lb propane tank will last with q2200? I.m actually looking for the smaller brother q1200 BTU will help to calculate a time.
@@ultimatemetalguitartones I drilled with the smallest bit I could get -1/16- at the end of the regulator assembly, there is a small orifice that was clogged up with grease. It was way too big! I should order another regulator assembly and drill it with something smaller than a 1/16 bit, if I can find it.
Do get blue flame out of the little holes in the burner tube? This is the key as a blue flame is a lot hotter than a yellow or orange flame. Be safe and happy cooking.
He means motorhome, I think. I connected one to my camp trailer before, and it was a simple plumbing job to take apart a fitting and put together what I needed to end up with a hose coming off the tank. On my motorhome, I wouldn't consider it worth the risk, because I'd be plumbing in a possible leak under the motorhome. On my trailer, the possible leak would have been out on the tongue, and therefore a small leak couldn't have ended up filling some compartment in my living space and blowing up or gassing me in my sleep. You would be using the regulator on your barbecue, and the pressure in the motor home tank will be about what you get with any large propane cylinder.
I think it would depend if your Motorhome has a quick connect fitting off the side. My family has one where your able to connect other propane devices via quick connect and we ended up doing this with the weber Q. You will just need to make sure you take the regulator off the weber Q
idk i guess it would depend on where you get it from. probably around 40-50 bucks. Ive never had to replace one since Ive always been able to fix it with the steps in the video
I've had my Q for quite a few years now so its an earlier model and early on my assembly that holds the tank and regulator broke. I called webber and they sent me out a new one asap free of charge. I dont know for sure but it may have been a design flaw that they were rectifying but it was sure nice to get fast free service. I found this video serching for a low flame solution with a standard 1lb bottle. I'm gonna give your fix a whirl. Thanks for a very nice video.
yes I did. The one in this video was chipped when I pulled it out of the box and weber sent me a new lid so I decided to spray paint it to see how it would hold up and so far so good.
The regulators are $48.99 new with a 1yr warranty. I just talked to Weber, mine failed 1 wk before warranty expiration...they are sending one FREE replacement!

Yeah bro same, that regulator reset saved my Sunday!!
The regulator issue solved it big time. Lil Q grill is SIZZLIN HOT NOW! Thank you for the advice

Ugh. Lucky! My grill is driving me crazy! I might have a bad regulator I need to replace.
@@Tovenaar13 I did this also with a brand new one and it does not work at all. No smell of gas at all here.

@servispg what was the part number for Amazon my regulator is bad

Thank you for the video. As a new owner of a used Q, I need to bookmark this for future reference.
they say in the manual to go forwards and backwards when brushing the burner not side to side, so that you don't get as much crud in the burner
Thanks, I’m dealing with this issue so now I know how to take it apart.
Thanks for the tips! After reviving my Q from storage I was having issues with uneven or blocked flames and this helped!
This videos totally saved my Labor Day weekend!! Thanks!!!
If what you saw in the video didn't help, you can use a paper clip to clean the nozzle at the end of the nipple shown at 6:25
It solved my problem.

I have a Weber spirit propane grill. The flame is too high and can't reduce it. I replaced the burners inside the grill and no help. Any ideas?
Wow im glad downunder we have the big gas bottle models rather than the small propane bottles right nesr the heat
I haven't had much issues or concern with the bottles being near the heat since propane bottle gets pretty cold when using it.
You can pick up an adapter hose to use 5, 20, whatever size tank you want. I use mine on a 20# up here in the frozen north in Canada.
Incredibly helpful. Thank you!

How big should the flame be?
I enjoy your videos. How hot can this grill get? I like to really sear my steaks (the hotter the better). Do you think grill grates when help? Thanks!
To be honest i am not sure but Ill fire them up this weekend and measure the temps with and without grill grates.
I look forward to your video. Thanks!
Didn't have time to test the grill grates but i did film how hot they get.
Just bought a Q1200 BBQ. Love the brand. Are these BBQ’s strictly run on a propane cylinder or are they able to run off of a 20lb. tank?
I use mine with a 20lb tank!
i run mine off a tank, but you will need to take the regulator off if the hose comes with one.
spray soapy water on the connections to find a leak.
Tyler Latta thank you!
Russ thank you for your information! Appreciated!
Wow...it worked. Thanks for posting!
This video really helped me. Thanks
Could you use an air compressor to clean out?
Im not sure since I haven't tried it but I dont see why not. I get great results from a garden hose so I haven't bothered to try any other methods
Also if you use water you can physically see which holes are plugged since water wouldn’t be coming out of it. You wouldn’t be able to visually see clogged holes with an air compressor.
