OMFG this cover is a total banger for sure. I also grew up with this song, that whole album was amazing but this cover, the gritty and rawness of her vocals made the song so much better and not to mention the bad ass bass and kick ass drums. LOVE THIS!!!
Love it. The word changes weren't a blatant censoring like the radio edits, but more of a tasteful word substitution. Dany crushed it vocally, almost as if SHE was the one being cheated on.
TW has performed this song with the original “spicy” lyrics live recently so they obviously didn’t clean up the lyrics for this performance because they were opposed to them.
@@mjc1389 Yeah; I suspect this was a request from Sirius/XM - because they are still technically a radio station. Obviously they have no problem with the original lyrics otherwise.
This is the first cover they have done in years. Dany nailed it. How she continues to belt out those incredible high notes night after night on tour, and then still has the time to learn this awesome cover is mind-blowing. Best Band in the World today. 💕🎶💕🎶💕❤️
Dany is fast becoming my favourite female rock vocalist of all time. Power, range, expression, and always connecting with the audience. Total Rockstar Performance every time.
Pau has said that You Oughta Know is her most favorite FU breakup song EVER. TW is a very special band that seems to have the golden touch with everything they do.
After hearing this cover I went back and listened to the original studio version and a live performance by AM, and I have to say that I like Dany’s voice better, especially during that bridge section. 😎👍
I liked Alanis' original, but this is so beautiful and angry. All three of them nailed this. Pau on brushes, Ale bouncing through Flea's bass lines, but Dany, oh damn. I can't stop listening to this. ❤❤❤
Daniela's voice is of such a high level that it makes it seem easy to sing this iconic Alanis Morissette song.... Ale on bass was sublime, Pau immaculate on drums and Dany in rock star mode!
This shows how talented all three are. Dany's vocals, while playing were fantastic. Ale's bass work shows just how good she is, lots of haters out there that don't know what they're talking about when it comes to TW and their skills. This was magnificent!
Notice the haters are generally randos in comments sections, and maybe a few troll channels with 9 followers, while people who speak highly of The Warning's skills include all kinds of professional musicians, including some legendary ones.
They tend to have a way of making cover songs their own! This was a rare deviation from their own playlist of originals. They played a whole set here, and the rest of it is theirs.
Yeah, they killed it. Ale making that bassline look easy.🤘🤘 Somewhat of a full circle moment as well. The Warning opened for Foo Fighters shortly before Taylor Hawkins passed away. Taylor played drums for Alanis on the Jagged Little Pill album tour.
Ya know out of all the covers they have done, this one truly is up there at the top. I am just thankful they only do these as a one off, and stick to only originals performing in public. They have done these one offs in public once, or maybe twice since they made the decision to only do covers. That being the re-envisioned Enter Sandman, which is a classic in it's own rights already. Doing these covers as a limited once in a while thing for special moments only, really is important IMO. Atlas Rise is still my favorite from them, and they have only performed it once in public, and that was by request of the venue owner for his birthday, during a private show that was filmed. They performed "You Oughta Know" a few weeks ago at another private gig for a charity fundraiser. I doubt we will hear it again anywhere else.
The quality of their music and skill The Warning have in spades Keeps getting reaffirmed regularly and this cover is another showcase why The Warning are a top tier international band that we love because they are that good. Thankyou Jynger for knowing greatness when you see/hear it. Cheers.
Nice to se you again. Thees young ladies are coming to Sweden Rock nex summer. Cant wait . Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤🎉 Looking fantastic by the way.
Love your reaction, Jynger , love the original and love this cover. The Warning is coming back to Europe next year, so I'll definitly go see them again! Did you say "right meow" at 6:25? 😹
Yes, they killed it. Dany painted a perfect picture of bursting into a posh restaurant and "bugging her ex in the middle of dinner." I can imagine his newest squeeze flying out of there, hands in the air, yelling some choice curse words, as the guy curls up in the corner of the booth. Musically, The Warning did it perfect justice. Ale shows off her jazz bass training here, making short work of Flea's original, while Pau is back there in her shades, just being tastefully cool with her brushes or reservedly bombastic with her sticks. Dave Navarro has nothing on Dany when it comes to the guitar work. She nails it, even while singing - and acting out the lyrics so convincingly. I agree with you. I'm a huge fan of Alanis Morissette and Jagged Little Pill, but Dany is a better performer with a better backing band. This was amazing, once again proving that The Warning are the real deal.
I read somewhere that Bob Saget was at Dave Coulier's house and overheard some of that phone convo. I haven't come across any admission by Alanis to the contrary, so who knows?
I knew the song but was concentrating on other things, it was an extremely rich time when this came out, Garbage, Radiohead, P.J.Harvey, Sonic Youth and on, but in retrospect it's such a great song. The Warning's version will now be the main one for me.
From what I read in an interview was that flea’s recording was so off tempo they had to fix it a number of times, Ale is supposedly playing a hybrid version of flea’s version she came up with. The info is on a reactors comment section. 3/2/2023 edition. If you’re interested
I found it it’s in a guitar world interview of the sound engineer. I can’t put the link but just google flea alanis morisette recording problems and it comes up.
They kept it clean, but fuck yeah! Dany took it from angst to angry. ❤️⚡🤘 Did you say meow? Do I look like a cat to you,? Am I jumpin' around all nimbly pimbly from tree to tree? ❤️ Dany is.
Dany's a spectacular vocalist; Alto, 3 octave range, gorgeous timbre, captures the song's angst, ramps up the aggression, makes you believe it's her story, all while playing Dave Navarro's guitar part. Ale, preeminent Jazz Bassist playing Rock, Slays. Ale modified the original Bass-line, infused with progressions inspired by her greatest influence, legendary Jazz Bassist Jaco Pastorius. The bass part in the original sounds good now, but the original bassist couldn't get the timing right despite many studio takes; his entire bass-line was remastered by studio engineers. Ale plays this live like it's nothing; (I expected Ale to drink a Pepsi and not miss a note) Pau, dressed like Trinity from the Matrix, plays an entirely different style and mastered brushes to create gorgeous blends even though Pau never uses brushes in The Warning songs. These 3 sisters are blow-your-mind talented.
This 3 sister Army is just Elite! Daniela the General, Paulina the Enforcer back there all cool as hell and Alejandra just a Silent Assassin.. They move like a special forces military Unit!! Killers love them 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Dany is such a great performer, vocally, emotively and on guitar. She really rocks the snarky punk vibe doing the Metallica cover, Atlas Rise when she was only 17. The home studio version is the best…in my opinion.
Dany absolutely Crushed it, and Pau was Feeling it (Pau's favorite breakup song), but Ale... Thunder Goddess strikes again !!! Ican only hope that they do Ironic cover also 🤞... And after I saw this cover, I bought Alanis Morissette's album LP "Jagged Little Pill" at the same day. ⚡Viva The WARNING⚡ NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA/PauFan🤘😎🤘.
Although reserved and tasteful here, Ale killed it nonetheless. There's a fan cam at Los Producer show in Miami that briefly shows Ale working it more dramatically. Nice reaction!
I also think that this cover is better, my opinion, I think Dany gets emotionally involved in the lyrics and manages to give it a lot of strength with her interpretation. It is better or not, that depends on the preference of the listener.
It's not exactly surprising but they've been killing every song they've done since Ale's bass was literally bigger that she was. If you want a throwback check out their cover of The Pretender by Foo Fighters or Metallica's Atlas Rise. For an original, check out the OMV of XXI Century Blood.
IMHO The Warning version is even better than Alanis'. But then I am a huge fan of the TW so I am slightly biased. 😛 Anyway they did a terrific job covering YOK. If Alanis listen it, she should be more than pleased. ⚡🤘🏻🇲🇽
Maybe not better than Alanis -- I mean, come on... Jagged Little Pill was a masterpiece of composition and execution -- but the sisters did it 100% justice! 🤘
Hello there luv this cover if u remember the original music video u will notice that Taylor Hawkins beat the hell out of his drums and Pau was just relaxing but still did a great job. ales funky jazzy bass was perfect
I think you mean, "funky", right? 🤣
@@RobertLindabury oops have to edit that haha
thanks
@@dorseywhite2084 🤣👍
As they do whenever they do a cover, they made it their own!
Dany's voice is perfect for this song.
I thought it would be even before I heard them play it. Then you add Danyface!
I always amazes me how well Dany can sing while playing the guitar.
And how Alé seems to just casually be thinking about what she’s having for lunch while she’s crushing a bass line by Flea
Love it. The word changes weren't a blatant censoring like the radio edits, but more of a tasteful word substitution. Dany crushed it vocally, almost as if SHE was the one being cheated on.
Yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would want to cheat on Dany. 🤔
TW has performed this song with the original “spicy” lyrics live recently so they obviously didn’t clean up the lyrics for this performance because they were opposed to them.
@@mjc1389 At Los Producers. Have you found a full-length vid of that performance? So far, found only shorts.
@@mjc1389 Yeah; I suspect this was a request from Sirius/XM - because they are still technically a radio station. Obviously they have no problem with the original lyrics otherwise.
@@MrJest2 Yeah its the same lyric that Alanis did for her radio cut - and also used in the Rock Band game were The Warning first learned to play it.
These ladies spoil us with how good they are at EVERYTHING
Your immediate giant smile says it best!❤
Dany just gets better and better. Pau rocking sunglasses indoors just chillin. Ale PLAYS that bass

I like it better than the original. Alanis has a unique voice, for sure. It grates on me, however. Dany's vocals are total ear candy for me.
Not so much playing it safe but playing to their nature, in both instances. True to themselves, always.
