    More stunning than maple or birch. My wallet hurts just thinking about them.

      Hahaha! True that, as much as I love Maple drums, Oak really has some benefits over Maple. I reckon this Oak shell pack with 2 play Coated Evans G2 or Remo Emperor heads, you'll really hear the low end warmth out of these drums.

    WOW these sound fantastic. How can DW's 1st foray into oak sound better than other companies who have been doing it for eons? Great job DW.

      ELiTE_OpTiic I'll give you the answer for him!!
      D.W. has to get rid of those round big Camco
      lugs & redesign a smaller low mass lug!!!
      Less metal on the shells means more
      she'll resonance!!! That's the reason they
      don't sound as good as they should!!!!!!!!
      There's your answer to "Terrible!!!!!!!

    Not a fan of oak drums based on the sound of these drums. Obviously not a horrible sound but wouldn't pay the money this kit is worth for this kit IMO.

    • @Skrillexfan47

      It's the Remo heads, trust me. They would sound better with better heads.

    • @AH.111
      @AH.111 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's completely fine, as a musician everyone has a different taste. In this video they sounded good, but I don't like how open they were, I always buy 2 ply coated heads. So Getting Evans G2 coated or Remo Emperors coated, will sound amazing. It'll give it so much more low end, a nice phat warm sound to accompany that also.

      DW is good but I would rather get a tama starclassic Bubinga which imo sound better, have better innovative durable hardware, and cheaper, something about DW toms just sound off to me most times, they have some great finishes but I also prefer starclassic lugs over these big collectors series turret lugs. It’s all preference and that’s what makes music and drums so great cause everyone is so different but to my ears, feet, hands, and eyes...tama Starclassics are just the best feeling sounding and looking kits in the world imo. I used to have a DW collectors series maple mahogany and sold it after I got my tama starclassic BB kit for just a fraction of the price, got my 5 piece for just 1900 shipped in the exact finish and sizes I wanted and it’s the newer Starclassics so also came with the new hardware features brought down from the flagship star drums like the quick lock tom and floor Tom leg brackets which is the best invention imo for drummers who set up and break down their kits all the time, and the air cushioned floor Tom legs, and swivel wing mounting system. All that for 1900 is just unbeatable imo. Sweetwater has never reviewed a tama starclassic Bubinga kit, please make that happen sweetwater!!!

  • @mrnegronis
    @mrnegronis 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The 10" sounds choked compared to the other toms. Overall, they're very direct sounding with no ambiance. It could also be the recording method so it's hard to tell.

  • @steevidrums
    @steevidrums 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    WOW... such beautiful sounding toms!!! I'd normally put this down in part to great micing. But there's only one I can see (in front of the kick) and one above, probably a stereo mic. The sound from these mics would be good enough for a recording!

      +Noah Powell yeah, but bubinga has its own unique sound. I don't mean Dw's bad, on the contrary, it's exceedingly well built. As Tama is though.

      I dunno. My 1st kit was a Vistalite. Of course, very loud but semi-unfocused sound, I'd call it. Love the 402 snare.
      Saw a hideously expensive DW snare. Played it. It was stunning.
      Made the 402 sound like a trash can. Of course, it's almost 3x the money, so...
      Yeah. If I had four figures for *one* snare, (USED!) I might consider buying it; switching, even.
      I've bought entire drum kits for less that that, with nice cymbals.
