I had my Toyota Tundra raptor lined black. I use Lucas slick mist tire shine non oil based spray. It keeps the bed liner from having streaks or keeps it from looking dull. It also helps from water sitting on the paint it beads up and comes off really easy. Prep is def the key slick mist will eliminate water spots and over all it will help protect the liner and it rich look.

To minimize the risk of the paint collecting water, i would bring it down to bare metal, use a good primer, then the bed liner. Prep is probably the most important thing.

    Thankyou for the video....
I just came accross it recently.
Orange is one of my favorite colors.
I have done lots of painting over the years with lots of different coatings and seen how they perform in harsh environments.
Incase you didn't put any primer under your bedliner coating, I want to say it's best to put a Good Quality primer under any bedliner coating that's being applied to any type of corrosive metals.
Bedliner coatings are very porous compared to paints and they are more likely to leave tiny pinholes where moisture can get through to the metal below and cause corrosion from beneath causing the bedliner to lift from underneath, etc.
Its safer to seal the metal 1st before applying a bedliner for a extra step of security because corrosion doesn't pull any punches and neither should we when it come to defeating it,etc.
The best primer I ever experienced is a silver coating that's made any one of the 4 names below.
It has to be the silver out of these 4 and don't get fooled by accepting a black version.
The silver is the only one that has the aluminum particles in it to block oxygen from the metal preventing corrosion.
Corrosion needs oxygen to do its damage.
    No oxygen means no corrosion!!
4 versions of the special silver formula
    Mastercoat silver primer.
    Por-15 silver rust paint.
    Chassis saver silver.
Eastwood company rust Encapsulator Platinum Silver.
When you get a can make sure to put it in a refrigerator immediately to preserve its shelf life.
Especially when opened the 1st time as then it gets activated and wants to start getting hard in the can no matter how sealed the lid is.
Keep the lid seal perfectly shiny clean every time and gently tap the lid shut after each use just to prevent can distortion to aid in preserving and unused amount then put in a fridge where it can last for months.
Just make sure the fridge is above freezing inside.
Also after you are done coating its best to protect any corrosive areas you can reach with paint, with a gel like oil to prevent corrosion..
Like inner wheel wells and inside door doors, inside rocker panels etc.
One of the best I discovered is wd40 GEL lubricant..
( Not the old thin penetrating fluid )
It has to say GEL on the can and it sprays out as a foam and turns into a protective oily surface later that hinders corrosion a lot.
Its help preserve my pickup that has almost a million miles on it,etc.
On a side note if you have a garage, keep your nice vehicle inside as much as possible when not in use because the sun is a destroyer...
Hope this advice helps you or anyone out a lot...
Peace and Grace to you all and be Safe out there 🙂🙏

I think it looks great, but prep is key. I have used Raptor on a few things and love how durable it is. My last project was a junkyard find camper shell for my truck. It was beat to hell and the paint was trashed. No biggie, I only paid $80 for it. I sprayed it with Raptor a year ago and it still looks new. I am getting ready to do my old paint worn Harley. It’s just a matter of what color I am going with right now

5 years on my 05 dodge. Red/black. I'm absolutely satisfied with mine. After 5 years parked in the sun it has faded some. Getting ready to put another coat on it. I'm sure if I maintained it with something it would have helped with the fading and give it a nice fresh look. But can't complain 5 years of no washing or products applied to it. No chipping or peeling on mine except for my plastic door handles. I didn't prep them very well. The grill has held up and it was plastic chrome. I recommend proper sanding and adhesion promoter.

Correction: I had my pressures all off. We sprayed the liner at around 30psi, the compressor goes to 120. We didn't spray at 120. I don't know a damn thing about compressors. Like I said in the video, just test it out for yourself. Find the settings and the texture you like best. 👍

I’m doing my 2011 base model reg cab 4x4 Toyota Tacoma in raptor liner soon. My reasoning:
    I’m poor (lol)
It’s durable for off road use
I deliver auto parts and my truck has been beating mercilessly by ratchet straps and heavy parts.
It looks good, especially for the price point
I’m doing my truck in OD/Army green. I’m never selling my truck so I really don’t give a shit about resale value. To me, this is all about practicality and saving money.

Raptor Liner is an Epoxy based bedliner paint. It WILL flake and chip off with vibrations.
Use Durabak 18 Smooth or Textured (has crumb rubber) and a mohair roller brush to get a more durable flexible paint that will not flake off or chip with vibrations.

I just Raptor lined my CRV in a "Mesa Gray" color. Prep is definitely key, I used U Pol acid etch primer in areas where I sanded to metal and or repaired surface rust, I used 120 grit on an orbital on the whole car, and then before spraying the Raptor, I used U pol's adhesion promoter on all the edges of panels, seams, around where mounting holes for door handles/antenna etc. are, and adhesion promoter all over 100% coverage of all plastic trim and bumpers. It hasn't been 3 years yet but it seems incredibly rugged so far and I for sure have the hardest looking mom car in car line.

Bedliner don't crack unless you've put it all on at once with out waiting for the rt time for it to adhere, it's like paint, waiting 5 minutes after 1st coat, 2nd 15 minute's and 3rd, just hammer the f out of it.. p.s. by the way, if u've prep it properly and waited ✋ 😀 it would of been perfect 🥰 💞 👌 😍 ❤

I actually painted my ‘08 F-150 in white Raptor liner. I used adhesion promoter on all the plastic parts, edges and hard to reach places. I think it looks awesome but yeah I definitely have to clean it at least once a week.

    • @Bearbait01
      @Bearbait01  2 ปีที่แล้ว

My gas guage doesn't work so I have no clue lol. Tell you what though it probably gets 175 miles per tank. That's the rear tank so 19 gallons? I guess 9.2 mpg combined.
      It's a 96 but basically a 95. Same thing.

    • @Bearbait01
      @Bearbait01  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I just realized you're probably talking about wind drag, because of the bed liner not being smooth. Nope absolutely not. That doesn't make any noticeable difference.

A rougher surface reduces drag, it doesnt increase it, as it traps air in pockets. Air flows faster over air than anything else and therefor drag is reduced. Ask anyone that ports heads professionally, you do not want polished inlets as a rougher surface flows air better. Anyone suggesting that bedliner increases drag is talking shite! Its also why a golf ball is dimpled the way that it is. Lastly, its a truck with the aerodynamics of a brick, don't worry about the paint lol.
