How are people surprised about the supercart making it the furthest.
It's the lighest of all the vehicles in this video and has the smallest engine.
Smaller engines need less fuel and the lighter a vehicle the less work an engine has to do.
Those are like the basics of fuel economy.

I have an idea, what if "which race car can go furthest *IN CRUISING* with 1 liter of fuel"?
i.e. bring all the car to their top/cruising speed and modified settings to let the remaining fuel be 1 liter and see who can go furthest, instead of just let all of them start from still.

They need a class with a 2 liter max that has a max weight so you can’t just add “all” the battery and electric motor on top of the engine.
Make it so it has to average something like 15 mpg and they all get the same amount of re-gen.

Formula E cars are excluded because it doesn't run on fuel. Even if tested, we would have to convert 1L of fuel to the equivalent battery charge.
