@@pokepokepoke64 I have a very old Pentium-III-era ATX case, with a full rack of 5" drive bays, sitting in my 1-800-GOT-JUNK pile, and I'm pretty sure it is quite a bit smaller than this monster. But then again, I was running a GPU about the size of playing card.
I would have liked to see how to access the rear IO, couldn't figure it out from the video
You feed the cables through an opening in the case and plug them into the I/O. You have to have the side panel off to do this and then put the side panel back on.
I was thinking the same thing the whole video. Erwalkerca's explanation sounds interesting, but I would have liked to see it in action.

The horizontal has a Problem...the 3080 blows hot air down, but since hot air rises...well. The 3080 will breath used air...
@@gucky4717 maybe 9:59 can change your mind about hot air rising (convection). Air will flow where the fans dictate it, hot air rising only applies if your fans are off.

to be fair ITX case mainly means it fits a ITX Mobo and not that has a small volume, if a full tower only had mounting for an ITX mobo than i guess it would still be an ITX case

That was no where near the size of a full tower lol. MAYBE mid tower at best.
Considering the size of the case compared to the components it's meant to use, this one is clearly meant for custom watercooling. This is also one of those cases where the back panels connectors aren't readily accessible and everything has to be extended. It's been clearly engineered to optimize looks and performance over practicality, which is fine, but definitely not for everyone.
Those few dislikes is people who simply doesn't understand you humour....
Great review and the humour make it fun and NEVER boring.

Hey Jay, I was thinking they should have put feet on the aluminum back panel, or made it an option and orient it like a stereo receiver. I think it would look better and be more versatile for AIO's. I think it would look better that way as well. If you could fit the 3080 in there, it would fill out that glass panel better since it's not only longer, but its taller as well and you would see more of it than the 3080. Thanks for the great video.

Space for custom watercooling I guess. ATX cases that are most suitable for custom loops are also larger than usual, that's just the way it is.

I'm not saying that ITX makes sense for watercooling (it really doesn't), I'm just saying that's why the case is big.

I can appreciate the aesthetics of small form factor caes but my linebacker hands love spacious mid towers.
@@arkeshn729 My biggest gripe is that most ITX cases are either too small for any decent size GPU or air cooler (I prefer be quiet! coolers over water cooling) which don't fit in almost any ITX case) or they have stupid I/O placement because they went for some different MoBo orientation.

The Meshify C is smaller than this case. Honestly, this case is *absurdly* large for an ITX-only case. Why would anyone get this, there are many excellent and cheaper ATX cases the same size or smaller than this.
Because Asus is like Apple.

I'm glad you mentioned the "heat rises" thing again. I see that all the time in Facebook PC groups and it's infuriating. Heat won't rise if the fans pull it somewhere else faster than it can rise. Why are so many people unable to comprehend that? It's a simple concept.
After all the cases I have seen, why is it so hard to make a simple, decent case with a wind tunnel effect to maximize cooling while taking into account the minimal amount of space needed to fit even large components into? Am I missing something here?
You are trying to apply common sense to a thing that has been built to apply to "Gamerzzzzz by Gamerrzzzzz" so its all edgy and cool maaan.

you could also make it a desktop style case by adding some stick on feet to the side that doesn't have the glass.

That is a legit massive ITX case. I'm looking at my full size Lian Li 011D case, then looking at that "ITX" case, I don't see much difference in size.
Lol. I own the z11 case and I have my current h510, and the “ITX” case is literally bigger the my ATX case in almost every way.
I feel like this case would actually work great with a custom loop that includes the GPU (especially after seeing der8auer do the shunt modding on the 3080 and 3090) and some nice, high static pressure fans. I also love those black rubber tubes that are common now, and it'd go nicely with the rest of the case.
*Without a doubt the most fun pc build I've seen recently ... you're the king Jay 😂*

About the units: We were to be metric in the late 1700s but the ship that had the metric standards and such was hijacked by pirates...so it never made it and we went on with life as normal, as apparently no one wanted to send another set.
That's actually a pretty nice looking rig right there. You're right, that RTX 30 series FE really fits in perfectly with the case's lines. Love the brushed aluminum.

Jay was saying that it’s okay for the tubes up top if you have no other option which is what Steve said. It’s not the best but more of a noise thing than a degradation issue.

I'm not into mini-ITX systems but that is one gorgeous case.
What role does this case fill? Outside of a small build, is there a point in using a micro-ATX or ITX mobo? I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't imagine any use case scenario where this case would be better than either a SFF build or a normal ATX build.

If its not broke, no reason to break it trying to implement a unneeded fix etc.

Depends on how a person defines “amazing”.
None of Asus' cases are nearly as good as something like CaseLabs ones or 900D from Corsair.

Just did a build in this case, got it off Newegg for $50. And after doing the build I can see why it’s on clearance.
The rear mobo io is literally inside the case, and stuck under two case exhaust fans. Which firstly requires you to remove a panel just to plug-in to the mobo rear io but you also risk having your finger popped by the running fans only 2” clearance from the rear of mobo.
Beyond that, the case looks awesome, it’s just such a massive gap between design and functionality.
As mentioned, if they offered the ability to rotate the mobo to align the rear io with the orientation, (and the mobo io was externally accessible) this case would’ve been a huge hit.
Even mounting an AIO in place of the exhaust fans, I could not maneuver a 240mm AIO there. So I gave up and mounted the AIO to the “bottom” but the case would stay in the vertical position, so the bottom was actually the rear. Except that removes the 2x2.5” and 1x3.5” tray which I wanted for a large capacity 3.5” 4tb secondary drive.
Again, I loved the look of this case. But after 2 weeks using it, and having to plugin rear io (including hdmi and display port to the gpu) the idea of having to remove a case panel just to add something to the mobo rear IO really irks me.

You might be able to change the orientation of the motherboard in the case as well, to make the geforce logo right side up, and some other upsides
If you'd like to see a very unrated not well known LEFT SIDED case check out the segotep Phoenix case it's actually a really well thought out design that makes alot of sense, it has a straight airflow design like a wind tunnel almost and has the front 3 fans blow directly onto your gpu
Asus never bothered to listen to Steve's (GN) criticism of this case's prototype design at the end of 2019. Hmm...
And that's why no one buying it.
hell Steve's called them out plenty of times for not listening to people and this case is proof that they give zero craps about making functional cases.

Nah what he means is that there is space inside the rad to catch bubbles if you're going tubes up, just make sure the tubes are physically higher than your CPU socket.
@@joeltowart8396 That is true for fresh aio’s but gamers nexus argument was that the water evaporates slowly inside the rad and it will eventually cause bubbles, therefore also pump noise

That brushed aluminum matches the aesthetic of the 3080 FE surprisingly well
I built a PC for a friend of mine in this case and something I found very aggravating was that the I/O ports on the back of the motherboard have very little clearance between them and the fans. To plug a cable into the ports on a GPU, you have to run it through a routing hole on the bottom/back (depending on orientation) and reach in from the side to actually reach the port, which means the side panel has to come off. The cable then also ends up bending quite sharply due to the lack of clearance from the fans. The case itself can make for a nice build but it has some annoying drawbacks.
I'm a Monarchist, i hate everything ROG.
