      I think that's fine. I want ITX because it's all I need. One m.2 drive, one GPU, no other PCI slots. A roomy case with good airflow that's easy to build in is still useful, it's why I got an NZXT H200.

    • @7DegreesOfFreedom
      @7DegreesOfFreedom 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Stetrain A lot of Micro-ATX motherboards are actually cheaper than Mini-ITX, and you can get smaller and cheaper cases than this. So, if you aren’t prepared to pay $150+ dollars on a case, I would recommend Micro-ATX because extra slots don’t hurt.

      Holy shit, if you look at it that way, you're quite right! It's a shame, because the quality is clearly so top notch. I'm willing to bet that someone in Asus marketing looked at the data and noticed ITX Mobo sales were up by X percent and told engineering that they needed something over the top while clearly being an ROG product, and alas, we get this. I just got one for 50 today. I was wacthing other MITX case reviews, and it was on the best temps list for CPU and GPU. It gets such hate for poor temps, but all these ITX cases have bad temps?
      I got a new desk to hold my 3 monitors, and it has weird shelves, that are oddly small. They are also wire grate shelves. So I will solve the vertical issue (Which is clearly the fan is being blocked... Put on feet hello) and it will fit my shelve. Use extensions for the IO, and you could put a second rad up there.
      It presents challenges, but there is solutions to end up with a really neat build imo. For 50, cant go wrong.

    I think Dmitri's opening comment about it being a show piece pretty much sums it up. These kinds of cases aren't meant to be easy to use, they are for folks who want to have a little challenge. It being an ITX case is irrelevant because most people these days only use the PCI slot for the video card so anything bigger than ITX is likely not needed. As for the cable issue, I've said it before but reviewers tend to forget than folks who build their PCs aren't usually disconnecting cables once things are set up, especially a show piece like this. If a builder is looking for an easy to work with case, I agree this ain't it but for folks who love RGB and that sick sci-fi look, its a killer.

    Even the Evolv Shift looks better for the size. For ITX, I'm still in love with he Dan A4, for something a little bigger, the NCase N1 still the best.

    @1:48 let's discuss how bottom mount aio is a design flaw. Any air, which exists in all aio coolers, will sit within the pump for any asetek pump. Looks like there is an alternative mounting location at the back for this orientation which will easily allow it to be mounted barbs down to solve this.

    People say air flow sucks but they can't understand that an aluminium case will dissipate heat way better. Plus that's way its water cooled. Water cooling the GPU would help tremendously on heat, ouldnt mind picking one of these up but can't find it for sale anywhere.

  • @ericnewton5720

    I bought this on clearance at newegg for $50. After doing a build in it, I can tell why it was on clearance.
    The mobo rear IO being inside the case really irks me. Not being able to mount AIO into the 2 140mm spot irks me. The AIO tubes barely (with some bending stress) fit next to the mobo rear IO when you mount AIO to the "back".
    The case looks great... the brushed anodized aluminum, the front panel, the glass... such a beautiful case but the functionality of the design is so far off the mark. Just a few tweaks and it would be a huge winner but it comes up so short. Especially anytime you have to plug something into the rear mobo io... its so fn annoying.
    Trashing the case for a Cooler Master NR200P max. Seems better thought out.

  • @m4r_art
    @m4r_art 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I expect future cases to provide internal cooling solutions, and solutions that will reduce heat or filter warm air or something like that. The design aspect of an already overly big format is not the real discussion we should be having.

    I was just about to pull the trigger on this case until I watched your review. I can handle less-than-ideal build conditions if the end result is going to look awesome, but making the IO such a pain in the butt to access when you're actually using the PC completely kills it for me.

    I was sold on this case the first time I saw it, but after looking stuff up, Idk… The main issue I have with it is the whole mobo i/o thing… Like, why? You guys really couldn’t think of a better means to address that? I just imagine myself getting insanely frustrated trying to work with this thing if I did get it. Maybe the end result would be satisfying, but I may just look into something else. A truly mind boggling case this is. Bigger than some mid towers, but for mini itx / dtx. Okay, Asus.

    If only this could fit a 280+240 rad, it would be great for a full custom loop show piece. There may be workarounds like using angled adapters for the mobo I/O, but there seem to be too many compromises to make dual rads work.

  • @BloodsCaress
    @BloodsCaress 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    watching the 1st 2 minutes going "I hope this thing isn't expensive" Then I hear it's $279 as I give a sigh of relief because I spent more on my current case and I'd imagine it's almost as big a nightmare to work in given my choice of components and the case in general. It's the IbuyPower Snowblind

  • @Clove_Parma
    @Clove_Parma 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Having the AIO rad at the bottom like that means you’ll get all your air bubbles at the highest point in the loop, which in this example is the cpu block, right where the pump is. You’ll wear our your pump faster, get worse performance since the fins in the block won’t be perfectly saturated and it’ll sound like a fish tank bubbler. Rubbish case for cooling relative to its size, GN did a look over it and immediately could tell the ventilation would be choked and space was poorly optimised too

  • @peejeybrown
    @peejeybrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    i like how it's not tied to one orientation, its like having 2 cases. love the idea.
    question: does combo jack need a splitter? or it only needs 1 jack (either the mic or audio) to plug in?

  • @PlaCrown
    @PlaCrown 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    With custom loop, pump does not have to be above the radiator. Pump just has to feed from the reservoir, That's the only thing.

    i love it. definitely the care providen to each single detail is absolutely amazing. they don't copyed anyone and they made a brand new format started from a blank page. usualy itx case looks cheap and ugly. i'm an itx lover and this is definitely a case that looks original for an high end configuration, embedding up to 2 radiators. i'm not a fan of rog. actually i'm very faithful of razer. having this rog case in the middle of razer stuff will look weird in my configuration, but this rog case has justified its price, while razer released a 300$ case just renaming a 100$ lian li and adding their logo this 2 rgb. and i'm a razer fan. so maybe you're used to see cases everyday. nowedays configurations for gaming are so expensive, you can invest in a 300$ case cause unlike cpu or gpu you can make it survive decades. plus if you invest in a 2000€ rog gpu you want that "rog" behing featured also on your case. so this is perfect combnaison with an "ROG STRIX LC RX 6900 XT" gpu (which comes with a radiotor)

      this is a possible configuration for 4k gaming and streaming (some people prefer having 2 separate computers, not me).
      __
      i don't run games in highert settings, but i have a 4k monitor, and i record for youtube simultaneously i stream for twitch, i use streamlab obs for all notifications and useful plugins, i have an animated overlay. so all this stuff consumes my ressources and my actual 450w rx570 config is not powerful enough. mergin to a 850w 6900xt is necessary. at some point i bought an xbox one x to having a separate gaming machine, but xbox one x don't support 21:9 monitors. was announced has feature, then upcoming feature. and never came. they do the same with series. so i play on pc now, tired of this policy of "will comes later... maybe... one day" announced features. it's maybe more expensive, but the entiere freedom you get in exchange is priceless. plus, streaming on xbox is limited in 1080p, without any possible streamlabs (donations) integration. elgato recording devices have same issue than xbox, don't support 21:9 resolutions. the only alternate solution is to use a shadow remote machine for gaming and my actual machine for streaming.
