Imagine if you've been watching Noel and the other TH-cam flight reviewers for years, scrimped and saved all that time so you can finally sample a long haul business class flight yourself. The big day arrives and almost overcome with excitement you board your Air Niugini 767 and then find you are sitting in that seat between the two lavatories. I feel really sad for that guy even though he's a figment of my imagination.
I'd love to believe that's the karma seat

My wife and I got one flying LHR to JFK a few years back on our honeymoon, just straight up asked for it and they gave it to us if we were happy to wait 3 hrs for the next flight. Even gave us a meal ticket for the delay! 😂
If you have to "scrimp and save"...you probably don't buy Business Class tickets.

PNG is home to some of the most generous people on the planet. They have little but will share in a heartbeat. So thankful that your experience was good on Air Nuigini. I have a very dear friend who lives in the mountain area over there and she flies on much smaller planes to get around, as a health worker.
But unfortunately port Moresby is a town you definitely don't want to visit if you value your life. It's a ridiculously crime riddled town.

Thank you for reviewing Air Niugini it's not the best airline by any means but to the local it's their pride and joy. Very nostalgic for kids who grew up in Papua New Guinea the A310, friendly ground staff and crew were like family always happy to see em. ❤🖤💛
Agreed 👍. As a kid the Airbus was the best their cabin crew were always so kind. Miss the people and the place dearly. We try to visit every few years but Covid.

Yep. My dad was one of the managers of air new guinea from the 70s to the early 2000s.
So i grew up there in the 90s. We had free flights. So flew all over. Very nostalgic
fun and frolicy review as usual, noel. PS, i love boarding through air stairs any old day. it's such a visceral entrance esp to aircraft not long for this world as is the 757-767, both designed and built at the same time. the amazing retro cabin (with the unique single center seat in biz class), angular bins and lively-colored leather seats are the bomb! i have very fond memories of flying the 767 as well when i was just a pup.

I flew a lot in the early 2000s within Australia and remember a Qantas captain on a 767-300 flight describe the aircraft as a racecar compared to other makes / models. Absolutely loved the unique sound as those RR engines spooled up. 👍👍
Just watched this video - brings back memories of the 3 years I spent in POM working for Air Niugini from 2010. I had a laugh with my wife when you said it was a little bit confusing - that's just Papua New Guinea, the land of the unexpected ;)
I really like the old style, less intrusive looking over head compartments of the 767. My 1st flight on the 76 was on Kuwait Airways going to Cairo. I've since flown it on Gulf Air, Continental & Air Canada. What a workhorse indeed.
B767 is incredibly versatile. Not only flown short haul from Glasgow - Heathrow but mainly long haul including Nairobi - Amsterdam (KLM), Heathrow - Baltimore/Washington (BA), Cairns - Singapore (Qantas), LHR-JFK and JFK-SFO (United) and more recently Toronto - Heathrow (Air Canada). Quite noisy compared to newer planes but amazing plane, nevertheless. Another great vlog - many thanks! ✈️
Wholeheartedly agree Noel. My first overseas trip was way back in 2001 from Christchurch to Brisbane on a Qantas 767-200ER. Can still remember the 2-3-2 config and how it was super roomy. It was Pre 9/11 the pilot even invited my dad, brother and I up into the cockpit as we approached the Queensland coast. The memories of the good old days!

I’ve been around planes for a large portion of my life. I was a ramp agent for American and more recently became first officer for United after I switched careers (my intent was to always go to flights school and acquire my ATP License). These planes are strong, very strong. They do testing all the way from throwing dead birds into the Turbines, spraying ungodly amounts of water at full throttle all the way to testing the wings, the wings on some of these Aircraft can flex and touch tip to tip without breaking, this would never happen in reality though and is done in a controlled environment by the Aircraft Manufacturer. Also, Sure you’ve heard this before but, turbulence is nothing to worry about and some you should grow to enjoy, it’s the only eventful experience during the whole flight in my opinion. While everyone is freaking out in the cabin during turbulence and you start to get nervous just remember, the pilots in the flight deck are either reading the newspaper, taking their allowed Nap, drinking coffee, reading a book or having a conversation during the turbulence, they’re not worried. There are approximately 100,000 flights per day in the world, almost 37,000,000 globally a year, Billions upon billions of miles flown in commercial aviation history and billions of flights over time. You know how many have crashed? 1,500… such a minuscule number comparatively.
Amazing to see the changes! I grew up in PNG- flying old school Air Niugini- the old 707 and the incredible Bird of Paradise livery when that was retired- I knew I was nearly home when I got on the Air Niugini planes!
At 31:16 even way before this week, I think that this was a hint that a trip cover to Australia with stops in Asia was coming soon; and now, welcome to the land down under! You have made it to the bottom part of this world from Europe to Mongolia to Korea to Vietnam to Singapore to Papua New Guinea and finally to Australia with you as one of these people who have almost circumnavigated the globe!

I might have flown on that same plane given how few they have! Too bad you didn’t get a chance to spend a few days. PNG - not pronounced ping - was an annual stop for me in the early 2000s. Between the Fokker 28s, 100s, and Airlines PNG’s Dash 8, flying was great for an enthusiast like me.

Aww the Air Niugini flight brought lots of fond memories of the years I lived and worked in Port Moresby. I started speaking Tok Pisin in my head!! Back in the mid 90’s the airport in POM was Jackson’s Airfield with a tin hut to arrive and depart in. I used to catch the 90 minute flight over to Cairns to go to the movies, get my hair done and other essentials. Loved my years in PNG with my husband and children. Welcome back to Australia Noel, you are very welcome 🇦🇺

Was good to hear you seeing active Fokker 100’s. I did my 3 year aerospace apprenticeship on complete assembly of the F100/70 wing production. I worked as a journeyman on them after apprenticeship. Covered every phase of production from building spars to wing equipping. Production ended 1996.
Deboarding via stairs from a Tulip-liveried 744 in FRA some 20 years ago is one of my fondest memories as an AV geek. Thanks for the report, excellent as always. 😊

Great video. 767 has always been a favourite; 2 aisles on the narrowest widebody feels so spacious in cattle class!
I’ve done so many stairs boardings on to A330s, A340s, and 777s at old IST because they use them to London and Ankara and they were really pushed for jet bridge capacity (hence new IST). Loved it every time; no better way to get the sense of scale.

I did the same Singapore to Port Moresby flight with Air Nuigini a few years back and loved it. Whilst in PNG I got around on PNG Air. Their planes have the amazing tribal liveries on their tails it was great! We also had a stopover at Lae airport where Amelia Earhart departed from when she famously disappeared (technically that was a different airfield but still....)
Great video, bud. I whole heartedly agree with you, nothing wrong about flying well known commercial airlines, however, you already know in advance what to expect. Flying those smaller, less known, national airlines has got to be much more fun 👍

Looking at that business class seat between the lavatories, I was floored. 😀 I feel bad for the poor sod who gets that seat. The 767 is a pretty cool aircraft. I flew my share of those in the 80's and 90's. I was amazed at how much legroom the business class seats had. Like you said, some of the retro airplanes are the most awesome ones to be on.

Great vlog as always! I have had many a flight over the Atlantic on LN-RCL. She took onboard about 52t of fuel from FBU-EWR on the 8h flight. Cool to see She is still flying. That is What good maintenance does! Keep up the good work. Be safe!
It's interesting too that Air Niugini only has 2 widebody aircraft and both are the Boeing 767-300. Yay. You flying deeper over Indonesia again
I love the 767 and it’s been my favorite aircraft ever. I’ve flown it on LATAM, AA, and like you mentioned, Eastern. I even had a chance to fly on their -200ER TWICE in 2020. Such an unique moment.

Welcome to my home town. You've probably long gone by now. Brissy used to play host to heaps of my favorite type, the mighty B763. We had QFA, RBA, NZA, and of course, PQM just to name a few!

Love the story of how you've loved the 767's over the years. I've only been on two, one with QANTAS when I was a kid, and a Delta 767 back in 2017. The Delta one at the time was close to 25 years old! Looking forward to the Australian videos, as I saw the stories on Facebook a while back

Great memories have turn up as I took the exact same route from SIN to BNE in the mid of July this year (but in Economy). The crew were extremly nice and attentive, fed me well and the IFE was phenomenal, super responsive and great amount of contents. The second leg I had was on a B738 which offer the exact same hardware (the front Biz were the same seats as well). They even had 3 options for economy as breakfast which was insane! Beyond that, they only charged me 640 Singapore Dollars (around $440) compared to whopping $1500oneway direct flight in economy with SQ during peak seasons, great deal! Thank you Noel for sharing this I've been waiting for so long!
I love the 767, especially with Delta. Old work horse but great planes. Crazy they haven’t updated it with new overhead bins and maybe the aerodynamic enhancements like winglets. Either way, I’m glad to see these planes still in use. My first flight was a DC-9 but the 767 is one of my favorites along with the 757.
Not wrong there, took one to JFK from LAX five years ago. Shows it's age, but shows how people travelled in the 80s & 90s
What are the new bins like and how are they different than the old ones?
Excellent vid, there's something comforting about a clean, well kept, older plane. Except for a puddle jumper I'd prefer the jetbridge any time. I'll always remember transferring flights decades ago boarding a red-eye in St. Louis in a driving rain. It was so bad they were escorting passengers from the gate to the airstairs. It was so windy I should have been worried, but I 'd just mustered out of the service and noting could spoil that day.
Deliver me from buses to remote stands, they're the worst of all worlds.
I live just North of Brisbane and many of my flights have been in or out of here. I had quite a few flights on the QANTAS 767's and always preferring a window seat, loved the two three two seating configuration (economy class).
I find the interesting flights you have. I have not been to Pap New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand but I love traveling to Europe

You mentioned Scandinavian Airlines and the 767. I flew them to Beijing on a 767 in the early 90s (in economy, of course 😂) Maybe it was the same Air Nuigini aircraft you flew on. As an added bonus, the connecting flight from London was also on a 767.
PS I think I've noticed the odd BA passenger on the spirits in Galleries Club before an early morning flight 😃
Stairs are my favourite more than say! the jet bridge,i love walking up the stairs and look at the engine to my right.,and yeah! the 767 is awesome also i love the DC-10 too👍
Transited thru POM back in 2009 on a flight to Cairns from Tokyo and back again. Had the fortune of flying on the 767, 757 and the F100 that time. Very similar experience on the ground to you. Despite a lack of information during transit the vibe of the airport was very laid back. Very friendly ground staff too. Wow the lounge at POM has really improved since then!

The only 767 I went on was with Air Zimbabwe in 1991 from Gatwick to Harare. But the first aircraft I flew on was a Lufthansa B747-130 from Frankfurt to Johannesburg in Oct 1976. Two years before, the same flight crashed at take-off at Nairobi.
Really enjoyed that video.. you mentioned the fokker 100 during this video and you probably well know that Qantas and one other airline has fokker 100's in the fleet as well as a few boeing 717's

I have done two "crazy" out and back trips to Vancouver, something like what you have done. This was to get on the last flights of the Air Canada "Gimli Glider" Boeing 767 C-GAUN , before it was withdrawn from service after 24 years with Air Canada.
I have flown on B767-200 and B767-300 hundreds of times since it was new in 1983. The 2 - 3 - 2 layout in economy is awesome.

Last year, my greatest flight memory is boarding an air China 747-8 with the stairs. That view was phenomenal.
Before 1975 this flight would have been a domestic flight to Brisbane as Papua was part of Queensland
Video brought back memories. I've flown Air Niugini Manila to Port Moresby with 90 minutes in transit & a change of planes ( still 767 ) for the same leg you took ... Port Moresby to Brisbane. Business Class with window seats ( avoiding the single seat in the centre ) ... and the kicker it was November 2020 during Australia's dreadful " cap entry system " ...then straight into 14 day paid hotel quarantine ... grrrr

I recently flew on a tui 767. My first time on the aircraft type and the cabin was in better condition than the Dreamliner I flew out on. The take off power blew me away too. Lovely aircraft

Having lived in PNG, I have been on Air Niugini many times. I've actually sat in the exact same seat on that plane from HK.

Hi Noel, thanks for flying my National Airline Air Niugini (PX), and for the favorable review, I was pleasantly chuffed, although we have had our challenges, PNGeans still take great pride in our "Big Birds" as we call them.In the spirit of fun a few clarifications on some points you made; the fabulous choice and variety in in-flight entertainment on PX flights is a priority marketing point that directly influences the choice of PNG passengers over its competitor airlines. I can recall so many occasions my colleagues deciding on flights for conferences in Manila (and with ticket prices being outrageous but similar) based largely on the availability of the latest The Rock movie, ridiculous i know... LMAO'd at your whispering about the Oz businessman drinking spirits at the break of dawn on the flight, that is so very common, he would have infact started in the international departure lounge bar if not at home on waking up, that's how some of these long term expat Port Moresby aka POM residents survive in PNG to begin with, by being semi permanently inebriated/obliterated. LOL! But rest assured as all alcohol is free on PX flights we PNGeans back from Manila conferences also get plastered/hammered but usually on our flights into POM. Lastly you missed the beautiful view on takeoff of the coastline around Port Moresby, for all my countrys faults you can never fault the beauty of a true Pacific Island country geography! That strange extra seat you found is actually for off clock staff on their way home or work destination. Those seats are usually found in those little cubbies where the service staff works so it is interesting.
Enjoyed flying Air Niuginu in the 80s from Morsby to New Britain and New Ireland provences. Twin engine Fokker jet I recall.

I first flew on a Fokker F28 Friendship, from Griffith to Sydney, in 1971... My next flights were a DC8 to Amsterdam, then a DC9 to London... I was 6!
Was great to see this flight as my love of aviation stemmed from my time growing up in Papua New Guinea for 16 years as a kid. I spent hours at Jacksons Airport plane watching and flying on all many classics, Fokker F27, F28, DC-3 and Air Niugjnis 707's, A300 and A310s and then their 767s and 737's. I also spent hours flying around PNG through the beautiful Highlands mountains and awesome coastlines on little Cessnas, Islanders, Twin Otters and many more. I had many friends who were flight attendants with Air Niugini and the service was always great. Pity you didn't spend any time in PNG as its a unique beautiful country with a hugely rich aviation history and some brilliant flying on some of the most remote hairiest shortest air strips in the world. Typical Pacific Islands charm on this airline, maybe one day you get back.

Almost every pastelaria we saw in Portugal offered a deal on a pastry with a glass of port wine as soon as they open in the morning.

Noel, I understand you're feeling about the 76, that is how I feel about the 747. the first flight I was ever on was a Northwest airlines 747, in 2005 I was just 5 years old and it is oldest memory. This began my love of aviation, and by complete coincidence I just received my new delta airlines credit card, which so happens to be made out of recycled metal from that very same plane, I have every intention of keeping this card forever as a piece of my love of aviation, long after it has expired and been replaced.
I have the most fond memories on the 767. I am so thrilled to hear someone else sing its praises.
I haven’t been that side of the world for over a decade, cheers for the video. The Ozzie guy reminds me of when I worked nights and went to the pub after the last shift in the set and had a fry up and pint of doom bar, fun times. Keep on gaming 👍

Welcome to Australia mate! Be very interested in where you get to! Shame they finished flying them. Alliance flew the Fokker F50 between Adelaide and Olympic Dam (BHP Mine site) for years. I believe it’s now a Fokker 100.

My first flight was a Boeing 707 back in the 60s. It always sounds funny when you refer to the 90s as retro.
Completely agree Noel. I flew an American 767 across the US from Philadelphia to Las Vegas in November 2019 to see my best friend and go to a comedy show with the legendary John Cleese. Little did I know my best friend and fellow AV geek Jerry would pass away 8 weeks later. Special memories on a great airplane. Keep traveling safe and welcome to the United States🥰

Our first wide body experience was on an AA 767 from DFW to HNL. Flying coach they had 2-4-2 config. My wife and I were totally comfortable at a window and aisle

Surf shark is great! This is a must have to protect your internet privacy. It’s also good to make travel arrangements and watch tv in your home country. It’s just like being at home when you are away!
I'm guessing the equivalent to a 767 is a old intercity 125 in swallow livery with the comfortable mk3 seats 💺! The seats on the 767 looked alot more comfier than a BA A380 premium economy seat.....and it had better entertainment too on the 767...go figure! Great review 👏
