Hey Noel. Let me explain what "rabbit milk" is. The milk you were drinking was produced by a company called "White Rabbit" (In Chinese there is the word "white" in front of "rabbit", I'm surprised that they don't keep the "white" in English). White Rabbit is a lengendary local brand in Shanghai specialized in producing milk candies. We locals in Shanghai have a lot of affection for this brand.

For context: there’s two terminals at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Noel went to T1, rather than T2. If he was aware, the Taxi would have dropped him directly at T2, and there’s no need for a metro ride. A majority of the flights to bigger tier cities like Chengdu always depart from T2. Likewise, you can choose your seating on China Eastern if you download their App and Pre-check. As a foreigner in China, your seat is granted but subject to passport verification on arrival. With regards to the “Rabbit Milk” please note that Rabbit is a “candy” brand and the milk is a marketing collaboration between a milk company and a candy company. It is NOT real rabbit milk. 😂

That’s a video that really keeps up with the trend. Hongqiao Airport has been in operation for several decades, dating back from the KMT era. It was the main international gateway of Shanghai until the beginning of 21st century. The terminal 1 is the old one, it mainly serves cross-border flights to Seoul, Tokyo, HongKong, Macau and Taipei, and the low cost carrier Spring Airlines’ domestic flights. Terminal 2 was built at the beginning of the 10s, it is more modern and serves domestic flights within mainland China. Two terminals are at the opposite side of the runways, and are connected by metro and buses. This is a bit similar to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport.

10:40 - When the C919 was launched, some of the Western Media discredited it by saying that its not entirely made in China because many of its parts are not made in China. What they
didn't tell you was that even Boeing planes are not 100% USA, they relied on parts from over 500 differnt companies from countries around the world including China.
Yes, engines currently used are from France/US but China is already developing their own 1000A series for civilian aircrafts and these will be ready within a few years.
And for those people who said that the C919 has a bleak future because it will never get FAA or Europe certification, the C919 wasn't design to fly over long distantces, it was designed for the China and South East Asia markets so even without the Western markets it still has a bright future.

I would definitely try a flight on the C919, but it's unlikely to be flying in Europe in the near future and I have no plans to visit China any time soon, although I would like to. Getting a visa is not always straightforward.
At first glance, the cabin looked to be a little more spacious at the front and rear; in my experience it's more normal to have one toilet at the front and two at the back on A320s or 737s, so the Comac has an extra one at the front. As Noel says, the aircraft is constructed from parts manufactured in countries all around the world, but then so are Boeings and Airbuses, so nothing unusual there. Nice one Noel, the new Texan!

Also with cabin moisture so high I’m just curious about corrosion on components as I believe the fuselage is composite. I see two AOA sensors, two pitot tubes and what is probably an air pressure port at the bottom. The starboard side of the aircraft should have at least one more AOA sensor and one more pitot tube. Standard configuration for Airbus but not for Boeing, for some reason. Boeing have generally made do with two of each sensor (don't say 737-MAX).

Thanks to the LEAP engine, the C919 is impressively quiet.

Yeah, it is a good engine, but The quietness has more to do with him being in the front row than the engine itself

Greta video Noel; I flew this exact same route from Hongqiao to Tianfu with Spring airlines back in March. Tianfu is a lovely airport. Shame you couldn't spend more time in China. Chengdu's an interesting city and home to the famous pandas.

I always like the “recline or not” discussion 13:16 cuz I believe the extra space you get when people in front of you don’t recline is granted by them. You should feel free to recline, it’s your seat control and seat space. Maybe just don’t complain when you are snugged? (I’m almost the same height as you btw)

Agreed...the seats have a recline button for a reason. Sitting upright for a long flight would be very uncomfortable isn't that why the seats recline 🤔 What do you think Noel ?

China’s aircraft technology has become so impressive that can compete with other countries for the benefit of air travel.
