Very interesting to learn. These are the kinds of videos that I really enjoy. Unfortunately some so-called "educated" people just don't understand how much knowledge is required to run a farm. It's not as one politician put it "put a seed in the ground, water it and let it grow". Another one recently said that "making a photo copy of an ID is difficult". Talk about condescending and ignorant.
I really like, respect and appreciate all that you farmers do.
I did not think it was too long, love the no Till. We no tilled in ND about 20 years ago, until God called me to harvest souls. Still love the farm and farm people you are the salt of earth

Many thanks for the interesting and outstanding video. This was a great video with the very good explanation about the way you plant and your no till and two plantings. I can see where some find it confusing because here in Iowa we plant once and we harvest once. You have a different climate and different soil and different crops. I do follow you and appreciate you taking the time to explain your no till planting. I trust you will good some rains to help your crops along. Your have had a busy harvest season so far. Around here late crops do not do good on late beans you are lucky to get 20 bu to a acer

My family has been double cropping soybeans after wheat for 30 years here in southern Michigan. We were one of the first farms to ever try to double crop in our area and to this day we are one of about 3 farms that still does . The main reason most farms don't is they need the time to bale the straw and they normally put in drain tile during the summer. We have 1590 acres of double crops in this year We have had steady rain since planting them 2 weeks ago and they look great . Most years our regular soybeans yield 65 to 80 bushels while the double crops yield 25 to 40 bushel . For us to double crop we have to first harvest the corn and soybeans early then second plant the wheat early then third harvest the wheat and plant them before july 15th . We find that if we plant a high population of 250 to 300 thousand seeds per acre that the stand is thick and we get better yields. I consider my double crop soybeans a bonus but I still try to push for high yields. Thanks for educating and explaining how and why you do what you do for the non farmers. It is very interesting your explanation of double culture. We in France, we can only in the south (Toulouse). Around Orleans-Chartres we try to put a legume (alfalfa, trefoil clover ) under cover (during the wheat or barley winter crop) we must control the growth of the alfalfa so that it does not compete too much with wheat or barley (with metsulfuron-methyl or fluroxypyr-meptyl when the wheat has 1 node), the wheat is harvested, the alfalfa grows and then either it is collected for the fodder in October, or it receives a blow of glyphosate (which defangs it only and calms it down) then sowing of colza winter in August). It doesn't work for corn: too much water competition. Alfalfa provides 40 N, with a permanently covered soil=less weeds like ryegrass.
Great explanation by Nathan as to how he plants the seeds and fertilizes at the same time at the end! Interesting about how the computer shows so much on the screen so can actually see how much is being sprayed! Love all your videos, boys, and how you farm there in Kansas! This year has been a really dry one here in Central Oregon and very hot! We had about 3 days in a row where it was 111, 115, and 118 degrees and some other days book ending these 3 days in the hundreds, as well. I could only stand for a few minutes on my front porch in the shade before I had to go back in the air conditioned house!
That's a great video don't worry about the comments Greg most of the people are commenting and saying you're a bad farmer I don't know nothing about farming so you know don't worry about the comments you guys do a great job you guys are a great family that works together and your I don't know what else to say but don't let him get you down from a farmer to another farmer I have the people don't even know what they're talking about so great video keep it up God bless

Same here In Iowa we double crop people call us bad farmers cuz we’re planting in June and July
We still planting too because of sweetcorn Indiana is normal to still be planting
We do the same thing where in Alabama.
We still do summer fallow after corn then drill wheat and then corn into wheat stubble

What product and dose does Nathan spray, thank you. In France this is not possible
When planting no-till do you need a special planter for that
As far as I know you don’t need a special planter but you do need trash whippers. Hope this helps(and that I’m not totally mistaken)
When will the hay and cattle videos come back
How come people don’t double crop corn instead of soybeans
We have double cropped corn before but it needs to be irrigated and it has to be an early wheat harvest so it can get done before a freeze. Milo and soybeans have better performing options for short season planting and hold on through low moisture availability too
Watching from Manitoba. Great videos. Kamala says most rural people wouldn’t know how to scan their drivers license. I wonder if she would have a clue as to what to do on a farm. If she knew half of what the farmers know, the country would be much better off. While real people are working hard to feed the world, Kamala is working hard to create division.
with the amount of double crops you do. would be having pivits on your fields pay off?
Yes but you can't get water rights for certain fields. We double crop soybeans where we have irrigation or it is better soil and then we put forages or sorghum on the upland/poorer soil
