Welcome to Peterson Family Farm. On this TH-cam channel, we plan to show viewers what happens on a real life family farm in Kansas. From working with animals, to planting seeds, to harvesting grain, to putting up hay, to fixing equipment, you'll get to see what farming is like! Our farm is a 5th generation farm started in 1882 by our great great grandparents. We grow wheat, corn, soybeans, milo, sunflowers, and forages and we feed about 1,000 head of cattle. To learn more about it, watch our channel intro video here: • Welcome to Our New You...

We had a few cattails growing in our pond and found that by just weed eating them down to the water repeatedly, killed them over a couple of years' time. The other option I've read about is to dig them up, roots and all, so if you use your bucket on your tractor or skid steer or whatever and skim the top layer of soil off that contains the rhizomes, you might only have to do that once to get rid of them. I'd go mowing or clean removal method before spraying anything hazardous near a water supply.

Hello Peterson Brothers! Sounds like it is as windy there as it is here in Brown county, Kansas! We are in the thick of calving now…but have a long ways to go! You guys are sooo educational! Love it! Thank you for all you do to promote agricultural! Blessings to you from your fellow TH-cam friends from Kansas!

Glyphosate is great for control of the cattails here in Texas. They make one that is safe for ponds. Apparently the surfactant in regular roundup isn't safe for fish, but we've never had an issue with fish kill just using regular generic glyphosate and it's a lot cheaper. As long as they are mainly above the shoreline it shouldn't be an issue.

It's good to see you are getting enough fertilizer even though I've heard it might be scarcer than it was. The baby is learning to crawl after toys---so cute! I pray you get some moisture this spring and not to suffer drought like we have in the Western states! Nice to see such healthy cows and calves!! Love the spring time!

Did you hear about the rancher who counted 196 cows in his field?
But when he rounded them up, he had 200.

I’ve heard from agronomist that putting liquid N with herbicides actually decrease your yield on wheat.

If u sprinkle white cloves like Haifa and red clover it sweetens the rushes and the c as true eat them out of existence.
Or you can use round-up it knocks it over pretty well.
