That Duck vs Hbox set is so bittersweet because on one hand it was amazing to see Samus do so well, but on the other hand, I don’t think Samus will ever get that close to winning anything ever
Yeah, it's tough because duck was like the last high level samus. Who knows how long it'll be before we see the rise of someone fully committed to the character. There is that one up and commer but I can't remember his name. They're nasty tho

Yah I've always been a strong believer that she will return but that's also cuz she's my favorite so I'm a bit biased, but I firmly believe she has one of the most versatile tool sets and tho a lot of it can be mitigated or has no viable use at the moment, maybe one day it can be optimized better
I'll give it some time. There are some top level Samus mains currently but they don't go to much. Morsecode beat Jmook and Cody last year. We also have swooper and wevans still. Wevans had one of the craziest online brackets for a Samus last year.
Fun fact, Stark was actually present at the Duck vs Hbox set and took notes for this very video while eating a burger from burgers priest and looking handsome

Great video! A couple recent (tho online) examples i like are Akir beating Hbox with DK and Warriorknight beating Fishbait with Bowser
I totally forgot about the hype Akir hbox sets! Also, Smash Papi had some cool bowser gameplay against medz at smash factor but nothing flashy enough that I wanted to highlight.

Actually I'm pretty sure it is TAS or something, as this set doesn't exist. Mang0 has never Fox ditto'd Cody and Cody doesn't play Neutral Fox. GOML doesn't even go by numbers, it goes by the year.

No one uses any of these low tiers so no one knows the match up if anyone gets good with them. That's the same reason why someone was able to get fang to work.

this is why you either get the opinions of 2+ top players or take the average of every teirlist you see

One thing to keep in mind:
If your character has a 25-75 matchup, then (using standard Elo math, not sure what rating system is used in melee) you should expect an even fight if you're 200 elo points better than your opponent

These moments don't debunk anything. Melee tier lists are usually based on how many options a character can do in any situation, matchups, and results. It's not just one. It's all 3. Also, how exactly do we know that these moments weren't taken out of context?
Now, does that mean that tier lists should be taken as law? No, but they still don't lose all merit
Very important to let you know that you're coming off as really weird in this comment. You've read too much into a title that acts as a segue to the real topic, and is clearly hyperbole
And instead you've taken the mantle as a gatekeeper of tierlists, demanding context and criteria be followed as if your perspective is law
I usually ignore responding at length but I think this could be a good learning experience so I'm sending it your way!

Tbh I'm on Robbie's side, a lot of people don't know a thing about melee and might already think like it's fox only(or anything similar), it's just big click bait for people that don't know better.
Not to take anything away from Aklo as he is amazing, but goddamn Kodorin must have been so sad. He got him to game 5, the difference between him winning and losing was probably just lacking matchup and Link knowledge.

Idk, my best friend and I played Melee all the time in college. He solo-mained Marth and I did the same for Link. At first it seemed impossible to win, but after a few months of hard knocks, I learned how to win against him most of the time. Link has to put in more work, but I don’t think that Marth is a bad matchup for Link at all. I’d say about 50/50 for evenly skilled players. There’s just not many skilled Links.
@@samgould8567 That's my point. Kodorin didn't know Link, but Aklo knows Marth. If Kodorin knew Link, his frame data, his DI mixups, etc it would have ended very differently. He got to game 5 without knowing all of that stuff, meaning he was putting a lot of pressure on Aklo.
